Back in the day, there was a Smash ballot between Smash 64 and Melee. Among the characters requested, Gooey actually came in above Meta Knight! Imagine an alternate reality, where people would complain about "Brawl Gooey."
Kinda makes sense in a way, Kirby Dream Land 3 was far more recent than Kirby Super Star, which was at the time Meta Knight's latest main game appearance.

And unlike in Smash, where he's outclassed by a lot of the other villains, it hurts more in this game because he's supposed to be the main antagonist to the franchise.

I apologize for how I’m reacting but... it just hurts to see a man-er... eagle-penguin thingy do his best for his people and his country ‘n to try to change his image and prove that he is, yes, good enough to rule and a good enough leader for everyone, only to constantly be disrespected by the Smash community and the folks who don’t bother to learn more about the Kirby games. Sure, you can still consider him a frienemy to Kirby while others would call them besties, but the point is that they ARE friends and companions. They trust one another and can the same be said with any villains in Smash who have their rival in the game? Especially since I’ve been interpreting Dedede’s more recent fights after SSU (that isn’t him getting possessed or trying to stop Kirby from doing something dumb) to be challenges to ensure that he’s keeping up his game, that if Kirby fails, Dreamland will have their king to protect them from whatever terrors might face them and to do likewise for the heroic pink ball of puff and potential eldritch energies.

Due to Kirby Fighters being a health bar based fighter, it means factors such as walkoffs, blastzones, ceilings, and walls don’t impact the gameplay nearly as much as it would in a percentage and launching based fighter like Smash.
I can't wait for the ban on Minecraft World because it has multiple forms even though you can select between 6 forms. Most of them even have potential to be legal, but I'm sure they, whoever they are, will find a way to ban it.
I personally get the feeling they'd nerf her to the ground, actually. Element enhancing isn't in this game, so she'll be stuck with her normal blaster. ... And then change her frame data so she's not as busted, I'd wager. Makes me wonder just how effective her Armor Suit will be changed, especially since it's such a huge target (bigger than Dedede!)
@@keystone5750 Exactly. She doesn't exactly have much, does she? And the transcition from normal to her armor suit is already somewhat slow in Star Allies. Either they keep it the same (which is already reactable) or make it longer for "the sake of balance" or something like that.
Artist Kirby actually has a lot more going to it than you'd think. I'd recommend watching some Artist tips and tricks/combo videos to know why. Someone else even put it in top tier on their tier list. And also Bandana Dee has the ability to combo Ground Thrust straight into a fully charged Spear Copter and the ability to cancel it into a jump, and plus Bandana Dee's grab is apparently pretty good if you're near the wall since you can basically chain grab with it and all of these things help him a lot and there's probably some other Bandana Dee tech I forgot to mention, so he's also ranked too low tbh. And also Magolor is absolutely busted, even better than Gooey. You should look at some Magolor tips and tricks/combo videos to see the insane tech he has, I doubt I can explain it myself.
Parsol actually has a sort-of tod with circus toss near walls. He can combo into grab easily, and then he just has to react (not predict) to how high his opponent bounces off the wall, which isn't too hard because there are only two heights to consider, and both can be reached without flying. It's pretty hard to get the 16 throws in a row in order to ko from 240 hp, but it's possible, and you often only need half that to ko in most situations, and even if you mess up when they start with over 180 hp, you still can claim a substantial amount of health. This is enough to make parsol top tier in my opinion.
OBJECTION! Beetle has the same thing... BUT WAY BETTER! His close forward AND close back throws lead to baby easy corner infinites! AND ... his close back throw is good for an infinite ANYWHERE*! (*as long as he doesn't have platforms interfering too much but I find it's not too big of a problem*) Just do the back throw, walk forward to where they are, and regrab! True infinite! Conclusion: Both of our clients have been wrongly placed! We must fight for their higher tier placement! An alliance for us!
@@austinfletchermusic ok but parsol actually has the tools to get in (air/ground side b, air down b), and beetle's everything is slow as fuck and doesn't help very much to create situations in which going for the infinite is possible. An infinite is like dough: it needs an oven to become edible bread. Parsol has an oven. Beetle has, at best, a campfire. You can still make bread as beetle, but it's hard to make good bread.
I'm honestly sad Beetle is so low. This ability was a monster in Triple Deluxe's main story mode which makes me sad to see it get nerfed so hard in this game :( Edit: Also Bell...and Hammer...and King Dedede (even in his own fighting game)...*sigh*
I'm not even sure it was nerfed, its moveset just doesn't work very well when you're not fighting low HP mooks or large bosses controlled by the CPU. And it wasn't the only ability affected that way. RIP Hammer -_-
@@Delzethin From my memory, most of the nerfs were mainly targeted to its frame data (namely Rocket Horn). But yeah, its lack of cohesion with the moveset doesn't really help its cause.
The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Gooey at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.
As someone whose favourite ability (non-Dream Friend) in this game is Beetle, I call straight up bullshit on Wrestler. Its grabs and throws have i-frames for almost the entire length of the animation while every other ability had its throw invincibility from the mainline games completely removed. As an ability itself, I like Wrestler, but from a competitive standpoint it's simply unfair.
I am shocked about how serious this video is. Its Kirby Fighters. The LAST game I expect people to be competitive in. But I am a kirby nerd so I can appreciate it lmao.
Even when he's low tier in 2 fighting games, Dedede somehow nets a win by getting a tier all to himself. I really hope HAL balances its characters in the future.
I was shocked when I saw Hammer's placement, but it makes sense; I just never would have considered that a move that tended to be that strong is so weak in a different environment.

Meta Knight definitely needs to be higher seeing as he’s one of the few characters that can actually deal with both Goey and Magolor while being a great option himself
Didn't expect THIS game to be shown, but I'm more than glad to see it! I'm pretty much okay with all placements in this Tier List, minus Artist. Maybe it's because I'm fighting against CPUs, but the Dash attack works surprisingly well at carrying opponents to the corner. Then, I just spam the Sculpture move (since it counts as multihit when making it, curiously enough) and keep them there as long as I can while I keep mauling them with a statue. Not sure how effective that would be on real players though. [Also, quick edit here: They did Artist Dirty by not including its screen nuke. I mean, of course I can understand why perfectly, but it'd be so fun if they implemented it with a cooldown.] Man, it's so... Curious that, despite having many modeled characters and abilities in Star Allies, a lot of them didn't get used here. While I'm very doubtful of DLC (even if I REALLY want it), I do hope they add some stuff. 1) Make Helpers playable, rather than only having Kirby and a few Dream Friends. Most of the copy abilities here work well as Helpers, since they share Kirby's size, and the animations wouldn't be as much of a problem. I suppose some could cause some... Problems? like Bonkers, since one could be torn when it comes to how, despite being the size of Dedede, his movement, animation and hitboxes tend to have similar size to Kirby's. 2) Add More abilities / Helpers and Dream friends. I dunno why, but apart from Water, there's no Elemental abilities in this game. Fire, Ice, Spark/Plasma, Rock, Leaf and Poison are all absent. Kinda feels like a heresy to include a Modern Elemental while not having any of the classics like Fire or Ice, lol. Dreams Friends though, man, kinda disappointed to not see them all present from the get-go. They're all so special and yet, only 5 were picked. Oh well, I do wanna see them taking shots at some other abilities and Dream Friends. Man, I don't know why I want Doctor to make it in so much. That just about describes my thoughts, I'd say. Pretty good video on this, by the way! Everyone working on these is pretty good at it! I've been a viewer/subscriber for a long time too, it's nice seeing when videos from this channel pop up.
@The Kitty Cat King Fire could definitely work, especially if they bring back the Aerial attack it had in Return to Dreamland, which... For some reason has not returned. Pretty sure Ice has just enough inputs to actually make it work. Has a unique run that'd make it faster on the ground like Water does, B on the ground would be the usual, its normal & dash aerials have about as many differences as Hammer's do so I feel like it shouldn't be an issue, its dash attack (and its triple B input) seem fair enough, Ice Suction as a command grab, an a unique Block similar to Bell's (without being the same). I can agree on Spark and Rock probably being braindead, especially Rock, but remember they can change the frame data of whatever they want, so I feel Spark/Plasma could still work if nerfed. Just *finally* merge Spark and Plasma into one with all the moves and it'd be golden. Leaf and Poison, of course. I also like to think Poison would pretty much work like an alternate, bait-and-punish version of Water.
It is funny how you dunk on beetle and bell. Beetle is one of my favorites it hits really hard but your reasoning is accurate. Bell is my nemesis. The ring ding racks up so much damage and hard to dodge from my experience.
I somehow found myself labbing characters in this game. I lab nearly every fighting game. I've found infinities and TODS in this game and it's honestly revolting, but I love it. And yeh, Gooeys insanely broken!
I know this tier list is not "objectively correct" or anything, but Gooey being the best in the game and having no real weaknesses sits with me about as well Mr. Game and Watch being top tier in Smash Ultimate. It's goofy, and yet it feels like it would be canonically accurate.
They’re both stupidly diverse, with Gooey using all copy abilities at the same time (possibly) and dark matter powers, and Game and Watch being a fusion of every single Gamer Watcher person thing. Just imagine if Game and Watch had a game where someone actually fights some powerful monster...

Here's my thoughts: the strat for artist isn't to zone, but to just swing the brush and not allow to opponent to have fun. ban dan has a chaingrab in the corner. bomb is more than mid-tier. bomb can completely nullify any enemy approach that isn't invulnerable. meta knight has a pseudo infinite by just mashing shuttle loop.
Everyone: this character really destroys the meta and overshadows everyone else Me, new to Kirby fighters with no idea what is going on: lol this walk the dog move is pretty funny, I like yoyo
If the Mage sisters were in this game, They would be In SS+ Tier, They are overpowered when playable in Star Allies, with Decent(VERY DECENT) burst options, Their ranged attacks (Especially Francesca's) are overpowered, Their upward attacks would not only Hit players from but they can block players who fight up close (Zan takes the Cake here), Then, their special attack does a TON of damage, the down side to it is that it can't be spammed. They would have to be nerfed to be in this game.
Great tier list but I think metaknight is definitely too low. His placement is about correct for where he is right now in the meta, but when people start actually figuring out how to take advantage of his entire moveset he's going to move up a Lot
I mostly agree but i have some noteworthy nitpicks: Sword: Mid---> Mid-low. That poor damage output is really noticeable considering this game is focused on winning neutral and chip the opponent constantly. Archer: Mid---> High. The downwards aerial attack is straight up broken, and zoning in general is absurdly good in the game, at the point of an Archer main winning to Gooey on a somewhat crowded tournament. That being said, he's really stage dependant, and that lack of consistency put him short of top tier. Yo-Yo: High---> Mid. Yo-yo is really predictable with not so good hitbox locations, and you DON'T wanna be predictable on a fighting game nor want to randomly whiff. Ninja: High---> Top. He is the definitive anti-zoner character. The shurikens might lack stun but also are amazing at stopping horizontal proyectiles, forcing them to do a mediocre approach; in general a great anti-meta pick. Wrestler: Top---> Mid-high. I cannot stress enough how important range is in that game, so having a lack of it is awful. That being said, the access to amazing burst options makes him an efective whiff punisher.

Just letting everyone know that Meta Knight has an infinite. It’s not completely true against anyone besides Dedede, but the escape window is tight. The walls in this game are completely broken.
Blocky: I really want Susie and Leaf Kirby in because Susie is so beautiful, and Leaf Kirby reminds me of Leafy Aura: Doctor and Daroach should come in because Doctor is useful in Team battles and Daroach is so cool and has the BEST abilities in the game

It’s a good video, but I have some opinions on the list. Like, almost all of it. Beetle’s dash attack (66B) is surprisingly disjointed, so it can beat out some attacks at midrange if both are used at the same time, like wrestler’s dash attack. Artist doesn’t really see much success as a zoner. Typically what I’ve seen people do is push the opponent to the corner with very strong pokes and whiff punishes, then use dash attack to confirm into sculpture in the corner, which does massive damage. Sword I think is bottom 3. The preparation for skyward slash is needlessly long, it’s one of the shortest range classes in the game, it has a pitiful damage output, and it’s built in bnb rarely works if it’s not used point blank. People constantly fall out of the follow up. And of course they’re made completely pointless by Meta Knight. Archer is a sleeper top tier. The arrows come out so fast that this class can actually force the stronger zoners like bomb and Magolor to approach, which is huge in this game. Bandana Dee’s down B (2B, Grand Viper) is jump cancellable on whiff and can lead into Waddle Copter. (5[B]) This gives Dee really strong movement and mixups. Was 2B blocked? Then jump into a fastfall grab. Do they expect that? Jump into an aerial jab. Also, speaking of jab, it’s disjoint allows it to clear out projectiles very well, even from big hitboxes like bomb. Bomb has a command grab that can be used in the air. Yes it takes a bit of practice to get off, but all proximity command grabs (to my knowledge) are frame 1, so bomb is not at all lacking in close range tools. Not only that, but bomb set is also very fast, shutting down offensive for careless players. (And careful players if the bomb player is good) Also all explosions have massive hitboxes. Water’s rainbow (28B I think) has a very big hitbox so anti airs really aren’t that much of a weakness if you expect a divekick. Also geyser is very good at preventing the opponent from landing, along with water having better ground movement, and air movement being generally not good. Also water has amazing corner carry in a game where the corner is very strong. Whip I think you give too much credit. It’s ok. It can out range a lot of the low tiers, but can’t really do much outside of that. It doesn’t have the movement of Bandana Dee, and it command grab is too slow to realistically open someone up with it. Whip tornado (28B) is a nasty anti air though. Meta Knight is very good. Yes he doesn’t have a projectile, but he has hands down the best movement in the game. His midair jumps don’t put him into Kirby’s vulnerable float state, and Shuttle Loop (28B) is insane for movement and damage. (the community runs the rule of 3, meaning MK can only combo Shuttle Loop into itself 3 times before ending the combo) Also, due to an advanced technique called charge cancelling, MK can combo into shuttle loop off of almost anything, even jab, giving him massive damage and corner carry. Beam is too much of a one trick pony to be strong. Air dash attack (66jB) is widely regarded as this classes only good move, as jab to awkward to use as a poke, and dash attack and jab are just a bit too short ranged to compete with stronger characters. The command grab is nice to have but it gives no positional advantage. I think Fighter is the best character in the game. Instant Mega Force Blast (26[B], command hadouken) is one of the best projectiles in the game. Not only that, but strong jB and Rising Break (8[B]) are extremely strong as an air to air and anti air, respectively. Command hadouken can also force a stalemate with other zoners like bomb or Magolor and force them to approach if they get inpatient. Fighter does have a learning curve but it’s not from execution like MK. Every matchup needs to be tackled differently, as you’ll have to apply your short and long range tools in different ways depending on the opponent an their class of choice. Ninja’s kunai are invaluable against zoners. They can easily destroy other projectiles and can force interactions, like Fox laser, unless your opponent wants to slowly be chipped down. In my playtime against parasol, I’ve found that drill can be inconsistent against some projectiles. Fortunately, air drill exists, so that can allow for some approaches. Also, you didn’t mention how scary this thing is in the corner. If people try blocking too much against this things crazy pressure, they will eat a command grab. I know this because it has happened to me. Also, even though parasol only has 5 moves, they’re all really good, so any of them could be used at any time. Finally if you block after divekick (j.2B) you slide a little. It’s neat. Cutter is alright. Same with Wrestler. They’re both viable, just not top tier material. Wow that was longer than I expected oops.
Ninja Kunai relies just as Fox Laser. You won't use it much but at the start of the match just about. That's it. Not to mention it cancels particular projectiles. Hitman Archer or charged arrow attack for example pretty much makes the makes kunais irrelevant since they're more powerful enough to stop the Kunai AND keep traveling, better range and decently fast as the Kunais. Not to mention *they make you flinch*
I usually use sword abilities to do a bunch of combos into a corner and I try to just have sky energy sword just in case someone comes at me with speed or force, or I need to combo into drill stab, into a combo that will end with spin slash, or to push someone into a corner or into a combo, it's trade damage and damage output are terrible but with a bit of practice with unique/creative combos and patience within most matches sword is pretty good
@@ianfawknotson1800 Since writing this comment I've definitely warmed up to Sword, they're more versatile than I thought. That being said though, they're too...honest, I think. They have seemingly strong traits, but they can't match the pressure of Parasol, the space control of Bomb, or the range of Dedede, who are the 3 characters directly above Sword on the tierlist. Overall, an unextraordinary character. As an aside, last time I tried running a low tiers tourney, (with the cast Staff, Hammer, Dee, Artist, Beetle, and Sword) Nintendo decided to perform server maintenance on Kirby Fighters 2 and I wanted to cry.
D meta would be broken if we r going off star allies moveset. he would have DISGUSTING range for a swordfighter, along with the rapid rising slice combo he has
@@RinZDR marx would only be good in his ground moveset due to extreme bullet (or in this case ball) hell. While his air moveset ball attack only drops in a straight line, leaving marx prone to aerial attacks
Adeleine would be busted because Fairy Dance is literally the best burst attack in every Kirby game ever Also, Paint Kracko would make Ado nearly impossible to hit without spamming projectiles
We do need to take it consideration that they probably would nerf some of their ability’s if they ever decide to update. And might be new moves as well just to so they have more options then their old ones
I have a theory about this game. 3 of the characters are in smash, 3 dream friends that aren’t. My guess is that those 3 non smashers were put in for Sakurai to see who to pick for Smash Ultimate. Think about, these 3 are the most popular Kirby characters that can be in smash. Bandana Dee is a no brainer, Magolor is almost as popular as Bandana Dee, and Gooey is a quiet but unique choice for smash. That might not be reason why this was made but a part of it could be helping Sakurai who is best for Smash.
As a bandana Dee main I'm okay with him being C tier cause that means people still don't know about all his crazy tech and how much priority his thrown spear has against projectiles muahahahaa

It's a real shame hammer doesn't have invincibility frames on dash attack and the down spin here. that'd give it a nice equivalent "get in" option slower heavy hitters in other games tend to have

I think spear should've been placed just a tad higher, either with whip or further up solely because of one move. That dash he can do on the ground that drags his spear along it and goes almost across the entire stage, can also be finished with a charged spear-copter before they can escape due to how fast you can charge it. It's a great burst option and can rack up a lot of damage easily while giving you lots of mobility by just flying around with a hitbox out.
I disagree with Artist and DDD being so low and sword being too higher Artist may have RNG, but it only makes it bad when you get the Pot as opposed to anything else. Paintings can cover jumps if you angle them up, it’s hard to just approach the canvas as it also has a decent hitbox. Sculptures are also just outright great with hitboxes everywhere, and the natural swings combo well and have good range with splash damage. I think it’s mid-high tier or between them, not to mention how fast and big dash attack is, giving it a great Burst option. D3 has a lot more going for him under the hood. His range is crazy, which also helps his Hammer damage seeing as it’s so high...D3 hammer swing is huge and deals a lot of damage also being able to combo into hammer throw for even more damage. With more HP, DDD also reaches “guts” sooner, meaning he’s even harder to take down. Sword is not just underwhelming, it’s REALLY underwhelming IMO. Should be a tier Lower as it’s combo game is very small and limited, meaning with its mediocre damage, it’s not getting much off of stray hits unless you get Dash attack or Upward slash. Meta knight is much better because while he has relatively similar damage output, he has more on jab due to the extra hits, he has better Burst options, and has great combos to make up for the average damage, which sword really lacks IMO.

I like Kirby fighters but wish we had some customization options. You can change the color of you’re character and you’re opponent. Colors(Pink,Yellow,Blue,Green,Orange, Gray,Red,Purple) You could have an name for you online like the names of the opponents in story mode ex(the silent water, the fearless parison.)

It’s actually not a bad list even tho I literally main both the hammer and the king himself seeing at a low tier with very good reasons. If it’s new characters, I really wouldn’t mind there being new abilities like mirror, spark, and even high jump. Dream friends might be Suzy, the three dark characters of Kirby, Ddd, and Meta Knight with powerful moves with more risks than the original(for Dark Kirby, he can only use sword as it’s most fitting since he uses it a lot in a lot of game modes). This isn’t a bad list at all and hopefully they might randomly update it to add more things to it.
Funny to see different this tier list compared to the current competitive list, especially Staff. Once considered a top tier, they now sit comfortably in bottom tier. Only contested by Hammer and Sword
Great tier list, couldn't agree more! Yoyo being high tier is great, but the real pleasure is seeing gooey as the most broken character in the game. I really want this game to get a competitive scene and dlc, and I'll be there every step of the way with my dog walking boy if people decide to take it seriously. Seriously though can we get dlc? I want more yoyo hats.

Back in the day, there was a Smash ballot between Smash 64 and Melee. Among the characters requested, Gooey actually came in above Meta Knight!

Kinda makes sense in a way, Kirby Dream Land 3 was far more recent than Kirby Super Star, which was at the time Meta Knight's latest main game appearance.

I apologize for how I’m reacting but... it just hurts to see a man-er... eagle-penguin thingy do his best for his people and his country ‘n to try to change his image and prove that he is, yes, good enough to rule and a good enough leader for everyone, only to constantly be disrespected by the Smash community and the folks who don’t bother to learn more about the Kirby games.
Sure, you can still consider him a frienemy to Kirby while others would call them besties, but the point is that they ARE friends and companions. They trust one another and can the same be said with any villains in Smash who have their rival in the game?
Especially since I’ve been interpreting Dedede’s more recent fights after SSU (that isn’t him getting possessed or trying to stop Kirby from doing something dumb) to be challenges to ensure that he’s keeping up his game, that if Kirby fails, Dreamland will have their king to protect them from whatever terrors might face them and to do likewise for the heroic pink ball of puff and potential eldritch energies.

Due to Kirby Fighters being a health bar based fighter, it means factors such as walkoffs, blastzones, ceilings, and walls don’t impact the gameplay nearly as much as it would in a percentage and launching based fighter like Smash.
I can't wait for the ban on Minecraft World because it has multiple forms even though you can select between 6 forms. Most of them even have potential to be legal, but I'm sure they, whoever they are, will find a way to ban it.

Artist Kirby actually has a lot more going to it than you'd think. I'd recommend watching some Artist tips and tricks/combo videos to know why. Someone else even put it in top tier on their tier list.
And also Bandana Dee has the ability to combo Ground Thrust straight into a fully charged Spear Copter and the ability to cancel it into a jump, and plus Bandana Dee's grab is apparently pretty good if you're near the wall since you can basically chain grab with it and all of these things help him a lot and there's probably some other Bandana Dee tech I forgot to mention, so he's also ranked too low tbh.
And also Magolor is absolutely busted, even better than Gooey. You should look at some Magolor tips and tricks/combo videos to see the insane tech he has, I doubt I can explain it myself.

Parsol actually has a sort-of tod with circus toss near walls. He can combo into grab easily, and then he just has to react (not predict) to how high his opponent bounces off the wall, which isn't too hard because there are only two heights to consider, and both can be reached without flying. It's pretty hard to get the 16 throws in a row in order to ko from 240 hp, but it's possible, and you often only need half that to ko in most situations, and even if you mess up when they start with over 180 hp, you still can claim a substantial amount of health. This is enough to make parsol top tier in my opinion.

@@austinfletchermusic ok but parsol actually has the tools to get in (air/ground side b, air down b), and beetle's everything is slow as fuck and doesn't help very much to create situations in which going for the infinite is possible. An infinite is like dough: it needs an oven to become edible bread. Parsol has an oven. Beetle has, at best, a campfire. You can still make bread as beetle, but it's hard to make good bread.
I'm honestly sad Beetle is so low. This ability was a monster in Triple Deluxe's main story mode which makes me sad to see it get nerfed so hard in this game :(

I'm not even sure it was nerfed, its moveset just doesn't work very well when you're not fighting low HP mooks or large bosses controlled by the CPU.

@@Delzethin From my memory, most of the nerfs were mainly targeted to its frame data (namely Rocket Horn). But yeah, its lack of cohesion with the moveset doesn't really help its cause.
Beetle even lost it's chaingrab from Fighters Deluxe on the 3DS, which really carried it there because it comboed until death without DI.

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Gooey at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

As someone whose favourite ability (non-Dream Friend) in this game is Beetle, I call straight up bullshit on Wrestler. Its grabs and throws have i-frames for almost the entire length of the animation while every other ability had its throw invincibility from the mainline games completely removed. As an ability itself, I like Wrestler, but from a competitive standpoint it's simply unfair.

Didn't expect THIS game to be shown, but I'm more than glad to see it!
I'm pretty much okay with all placements in this Tier List, minus Artist.
Maybe it's because I'm fighting against CPUs, but the Dash attack works surprisingly well at carrying opponents to the corner.
Then, I just spam the Sculpture move (since it counts as multihit when making it, curiously enough) and keep them there as long as I can while I keep mauling them with a statue.
Not sure how effective that would be on real players though.
[Also, quick edit here: They did Artist Dirty by not including its screen nuke. I mean, of course I can understand why perfectly, but it'd be so fun if they implemented it with a cooldown.]
Man, it's so... Curious that, despite having many modeled characters and abilities in Star Allies, a lot of them didn't get used here.
While I'm very doubtful of DLC (even if I REALLY want it), I do hope they add some stuff.
1) Make Helpers playable, rather than only having Kirby and a few Dream Friends.
Most of the copy abilities here work well as Helpers, since they share Kirby's size, and the animations wouldn't be as much of a problem.
I suppose some could cause some... Problems? like Bonkers, since one could be torn when it comes to how, despite being the size of Dedede, his movement, animation and hitboxes tend to have similar size to Kirby's.
2) Add More abilities / Helpers and Dream friends.
I dunno why, but apart from Water, there's no Elemental abilities in this game. Fire, Ice, Spark/Plasma, Rock, Leaf and Poison are all absent. Kinda feels like a heresy to include a Modern Elemental while not having any of the classics like Fire or Ice, lol.
Dreams Friends though, man, kinda disappointed to not see them all present from the get-go. They're all so special and yet, only 5 were picked. Oh well, I do wanna see them taking shots at some other abilities and Dream Friends. Man, I don't know why I want Doctor to make it in so much.
That just about describes my thoughts, I'd say. Pretty good video on this, by the way! Everyone working on these is pretty good at it!

Fire could definitely work, especially if they bring back the Aerial attack it had in Return to Dreamland, which... For some reason has not returned.
Pretty sure Ice has just enough inputs to actually make it work.
Has a unique run that'd make it faster on the ground like Water does, B on the ground would be the usual, its normal & dash aerials have about as many differences as Hammer's do so I feel like it shouldn't be an issue, its dash attack (and its triple B input) seem fair enough, Ice Suction as a command grab, an a unique Block similar to Bell's (without being the same).
I can agree on Spark and Rock probably being braindead, especially Rock, but remember they can change the frame data of whatever they want, so I feel Spark/Plasma could still work if nerfed. Just *finally* merge Spark and Plasma into one with all the moves and it'd be golden.
Leaf and Poison, of course. I also like to think Poison would pretty much work like an alternate, bait-and-punish version of Water.
It is funny how you dunk on beetle and bell. Beetle is one of my favorites it hits really hard but your reasoning is accurate. Bell is my nemesis. The ring ding racks up so much damage and hard to dodge from my experience.
Hope that, if any balance patches are coming, Beetle, Hammer, and Dedede get buffed

I somehow found myself labbing characters in this game. I lab nearly every fighting game. I've found infinities and TODS in this game and it's honestly revolting, but I love it. And yeh, Gooeys insanely broken!
Great video, makes me wish the devs took Fighters 2 more seriously and fleshed out the less developed movesets like Beetle.
I know this tier list is not "objectively correct" or anything, but Gooey being the best in the game and having no real weaknesses sits with me about as well Mr. Game and Watch being top tier in Smash Ultimate. It's goofy, and yet it feels like it would be canonically accurate.
They’re both stupidly diverse, with Gooey using all copy abilities at the same time (possibly) and dark matter powers, and Game and Watch being a fusion of every single Gamer Watcher person thing. Just imagine if Game and Watch had a game where someone actually fights some powerful monster...

the strat for artist isn't to zone, but to just swing the brush and not allow to opponent to have fun.

bomb is more than mid-tier. bomb can completely nullify any enemy approach that isn't invulnerable.
meta knight has a pseudo infinite by just mashing shuttle loop.

If the Mage sisters were in this game, They would be In SS+ Tier, They are overpowered when playable in Star Allies, with Decent(VERY DECENT) burst options, Their ranged attacks (Especially Francesca's) are overpowered, Their upward attacks would not only Hit players from but they can block players who fight up close (Zan takes the Cake here), Then, their special attack does a TON of damage, the down side to it is that it can't be spammed. They would have to be nerfed to be in this game.
Great tier list but I think metaknight is definitely too low. His placement is about correct for where he is right now in the meta, but when people start actually figuring out how to take advantage of his entire moveset he's going to move up a Lot

Ever since Kirby fighters as a minigame, the moment I saw shadow kirby using cutter I knew I had myself a dominant ability.
I love how staff, one of the best in the game according to this, is in the demo, which you can play online!

I mostly agree but i have some noteworthy nitpicks:
Sword: Mid---> Mid-low. That poor damage output is really noticeable considering this game is focused on winning neutral and chip the opponent constantly.
Archer: Mid---> High. The downwards aerial attack is straight up broken, and zoning in general is absurdly good in the game, at the point of an Archer main winning to Gooey on a somewhat crowded tournament. That being said, he's really stage dependant, and that lack of consistency put him short of top tier.
Yo-Yo: High---> Mid. Yo-yo is really predictable with not so good hitbox locations, and you DON'T wanna be predictable on a fighting game nor want to randomly whiff.
Ninja: High---> Top. He is the definitive anti-zoner character. The shurikens might lack stun but also are amazing at stopping horizontal proyectiles, forcing them to do a mediocre approach; in general a great anti-meta pick.
Wrestler: Top---> Mid-high. I cannot stress enough how important range is in that game, so having a lack of it is awful. That being said, the access to amazing burst options makes him an efective whiff punisher.

It’s a good video, but I have some opinions on the list. Like, almost all of it.
Beetle’s dash attack (66B) is surprisingly disjointed, so it can beat out some attacks at midrange if both are used at the same time, like wrestler’s dash attack.
Artist doesn’t really see much success as a zoner. Typically what I’ve seen people do is push the opponent to the corner with very strong pokes and whiff punishes, then use dash attack to confirm into sculpture in the corner, which does massive damage.
Sword I think is bottom 3. The preparation for skyward slash is needlessly long, it’s one of the shortest range classes in the game, it has a pitiful damage output, and it’s built in bnb rarely works if it’s not used point blank. People constantly fall out of the follow up. And of course they’re made completely pointless by Meta Knight.
Archer is a sleeper top tier. The arrows come out so fast that this class can actually force the stronger zoners like bomb and Magolor to approach, which is huge in this game.
Bandana Dee’s down B (2B, Grand Viper) is jump cancellable on whiff and can lead into Waddle Copter. (5[B]) This gives Dee really strong movement and mixups. Was 2B blocked? Then jump into a fastfall grab. Do they expect that? Jump into an aerial jab. Also, speaking of jab, it’s disjoint allows it to clear out projectiles very well, even from big hitboxes like bomb.
Bomb has a command grab that can be used in the air. Yes it takes a bit of practice to get off, but all proximity command grabs (to my knowledge) are frame 1, so bomb is not at all lacking in close range tools. Not only that, but bomb set is also very fast, shutting down offensive for careless players. (And careful players if the bomb player is good) Also all explosions have massive hitboxes.
Water’s rainbow (28B I think) has a very big hitbox so anti airs really aren’t that much of a weakness if you expect a divekick. Also geyser is very good at preventing the opponent from landing, along with water having better ground movement, and air movement being generally not good. Also water has amazing corner carry in a game where the corner is very strong.
Whip I think you give too much credit. It’s ok. It can out range a lot of the low tiers, but can’t really do much outside of that. It doesn’t have the movement of Bandana Dee, and it command grab is too slow to realistically open someone up with it. Whip tornado (28B) is a nasty anti air though.
Meta Knight is very good. Yes he doesn’t have a projectile, but he has hands down the best movement in the game. His midair jumps don’t put him into Kirby’s vulnerable float state, and Shuttle Loop (28B) is insane for movement and damage. (the community runs the rule of 3, meaning MK can only combo Shuttle Loop into itself 3 times before ending the combo) Also, due to an advanced technique called charge cancelling, MK can combo into shuttle loop off of almost anything, even jab, giving him massive damage and corner carry.
Beam is too much of a one trick pony to be strong. Air dash attack (66jB) is widely regarded as this classes only good move, as jab to awkward to use as a poke, and dash attack and jab are just a bit too short ranged to compete with stronger characters. The command grab is nice to have but it gives no positional advantage.
I think Fighter is the best character in the game. Instant Mega Force Blast (26[B], command hadouken) is one of the best projectiles in the game. Not only that, but strong jB and Rising Break (8[B]) are extremely strong as an air to air and anti air, respectively. Command hadouken can also force a stalemate with other zoners like bomb or Magolor and force them to approach if they get inpatient. Fighter does have a learning curve but it’s not from execution like MK. Every matchup needs to be tackled differently, as you’ll have to apply your short and long range tools in different ways depending on the opponent an their class of choice.
Ninja’s kunai are invaluable against zoners. They can easily destroy other projectiles and can force interactions, like Fox laser, unless your opponent wants to slowly be chipped down.
In my playtime against parasol, I’ve found that drill can be inconsistent against some projectiles. Fortunately, air drill exists, so that can allow for some approaches. Also, you didn’t mention how scary this thing is in the corner. If people try blocking too much against this things crazy pressure, they will eat a command grab. I know this because it has happened to me. Also, even though parasol only has 5 moves, they’re all really good, so any of them could be used at any time. Finally if you block after divekick (j.2B) you slide a little. It’s neat.
Cutter is alright. Same with Wrestler. They’re both viable, just not top tier material.

Ninja Kunai relies just as Fox Laser. You won't use it much but at the start of the match just about. That's it. Not to mention it cancels particular projectiles. Hitman Archer or charged arrow attack for example pretty much makes the makes kunais irrelevant since they're more powerful enough to stop the Kunai AND keep traveling, better range and decently fast as the Kunais. Not to mention *they make you flinch*
I usually use sword abilities to do a bunch of combos into a corner
and I try to just have sky energy sword just in case someone comes at me with speed or force, or I need to combo into drill stab, into a combo that will end with spin slash, or to push someone into a corner or into a combo, it's trade damage and damage output are terrible but with a bit of practice with unique/creative combos and patience within most matches sword is pretty good
@@ianfawknotson1800 Since writing this comment I've definitely warmed up to Sword, they're more versatile than I thought. That being said though, they're too...honest, I think. They have seemingly strong traits, but they can't match the pressure of Parasol, the space control of Bomb, or the range of Dedede, who are the 3 characters directly above Sword on the tierlist. Overall, an unextraordinary character.
As an aside, last time I tried running a low tiers tourney, (with the cast Staff, Hammer, Dee, Artist, Beetle, and Sword) Nintendo decided to perform server maintenance on Kirby Fighters 2 and I wanted to cry.
Hammer? In low tier? Somebody explain how I beat the final chapter with hammer then? Those s are insane.
I beat chapter 4 with attack, charge, and health with boss badges
Fighting high level water CPUs is a hell on earth, especially when you're trying to play as hammer
Really good tier list also I would love to see Leaf Kirby, then Animal Kirby, and Poison Kirby, and Mirror Kirby, and Susie as a new character
If the hammer ability had as many I-frames as it had in the games, it would by far be top tier.
We need Fire, Ice, Adeline and Dark Meta-Knight in this game
D meta would be broken if we r going off star allies moveset. he would have DISGUSTING range for a swordfighter, along with the rapid rising slice combo he has
Don’t forget marx, taranza and doroach, although marx would be super broken.
@@RinZDR marx would only be good in his ground moveset due to extreme bullet (or in this case ball) hell. While his air moveset ball attack only drops in a straight line, leaving marx prone to aerial attacks
Adeleine would be busted because Fairy Dance is literally the best burst attack in every Kirby game ever
Also, Paint Kracko would make Ado nearly impossible to hit without spamming projectiles
We do need to take it consideration that they probably would nerf some of their ability’s if they ever decide to update. And might be new moves as well just to so they have more options then their old ones
I have a theory about this game. 3 of the characters are in smash, 3 dream friends that aren’t. My guess is that those 3 non smashers were put in for Sakurai to see who to pick for Smash Ultimate. Think about, these 3 are the most popular Kirby characters that can be in smash. Bandana Dee is a no brainer, Magolor is almost as popular as Bandana Dee, and Gooey is a quiet but unique choice for smash. That might not be reason why this was made but a part of it could be helping Sakurai who is best for Smash.

You forgot one important feature, most low tiers have a good reversal option to beat okizeme such as sword's DP or water's rainbow attack

It's a real shame hammer doesn't have invincibility frames on dash attack and the down spin here. that'd give it a nice equivalent "get in" option slower heavy hitters in other games tend to have

Gooey is a glass cannon if caught in a combo plus some of his moves are telegraphed which is hardly a problem to how well rounded his moveset is.
If we get DLC I'm hoping we get at least two DLC packs. Here's my ideas:
PACK 1- Mirror, Jet, Animal, Doctor | Susie, Dark Meta Knight, Daroach, Adeleine & Ribbon
PACK 2- UFO, Spider, Smash Bros., (New Ability) | Taranza, Marx, Qbby, Jobski
For those who don't know, Qbby is the signature BOXBOY! and Jobski is the Part-Time UFO.
It made me really surprised when I saw my 3 favorites(Staff, Yoyo and Magolor) from star allies are all high and top tier.

I think spear should've been placed just a tad higher, either with whip or further up solely because of one move. That dash he can do on the ground that drags his spear along it and goes almost across the entire stage, can also be finished with a charged spear-copter before they can escape due to how fast you can charge it. It's a great burst option and can rack up a lot of damage easily while giving you lots of mobility by just flying around with a hitbox out.
Doesn't Meta Knight have an infinite? Or was that patched?

I disagree with Artist and DDD being so low and sword being too higher
Artist may have RNG, but it only makes it bad when you get the Pot as opposed to anything else. Paintings can cover jumps if you angle them up, it’s hard to just approach the canvas as it also has a decent hitbox. Sculptures are also just outright great with hitboxes everywhere, and the natural swings combo well and have good range with splash damage. I think it’s mid-high tier or between them, not to mention how fast and big dash attack is, giving it a great Burst option.
D3 has a lot more going for him under the hood. His range is crazy, which also helps his Hammer damage seeing as it’s so high...D3 hammer swing is huge and deals a lot of damage also being able to combo into hammer throw for even more damage. With more HP, DDD also reaches “guts” sooner, meaning he’s even harder to take down.
Sword is not just underwhelming, it’s REALLY underwhelming IMO. Should be a tier Lower as it’s combo game is very small and limited, meaning with its mediocre damage, it’s not getting much off of stray hits unless you get Dash attack or Upward slash. Meta knight is much better because while he has relatively similar damage output, he has more on jab due to the extra hits, he has better Burst options, and has great combos to make up for the average damage, which sword really lacks IMO.
If you can get above Gooey while he's flying, he's basically a sitting duck since Gooey's float takes time to get out of.

I like Kirby fighters but wish we had some customization options. You can change the color of you’re character and you’re opponent. Colors(Pink,Yellow,Blue,Green,Orange,
Gray,Red,Purple) You could have an name for you online like the names of the opponents in story mode ex(the silent water, the fearless parison.)
the painter is actually very good for the cpu teammate as they constantly combo the fuсk out of the enemies

It’s actually not a bad list even tho I literally main both the hammer and the king himself seeing at a low tier with very good reasons.
If it’s new characters, I really wouldn’t mind there being new abilities like mirror, spark, and even high jump. Dream friends might be Suzy, the three dark characters of Kirby, Ddd, and Meta Knight with powerful moves with more risks than the original(for Dark Kirby, he can only use sword as it’s most fitting since he uses it a lot in a lot of game modes).
This isn’t a bad list at all and hopefully they might randomly update it to add more things to it.
What I found with Artist is use dash b into up b at the wall leads with the sculpture which does almost 100 dmg
Funny to see different this tier list compared to the current competitive list, especially Staff. Once considered a top tier, they now sit comfortably in bottom tier. Only contested by Hammer and Sword
Great tier list, couldn't agree more! Yoyo being high tier is great, but the real pleasure is seeing gooey as the most broken character in the game. I really want this game to get a competitive scene and dlc, and I'll be there every step of the way with my dog walking boy if people decide to take it seriously.
Seriously though can we get dlc? I want more yoyo hats.
My favourite ability is staff, just because the pogo stick like movement is a refreshing way to get from a to b
