    I thought that the ancient jedi that sought true balance in the force, ie using both light and dark and what one would consider true GREY jedi, were known as the Jed'aii or Je'daii depending on who you talk to about the spelling... this group slowly 'fell' from this way of thinking and totally embraced the light over along period of time turning into the Jedi that we see in the Lucas movies.

    • @SimonWolfie
      @SimonWolfie 2 роки тому +5

      I've always thought of the force as less of two sides of a coin, and more of a balancing act, where the rope is the light and everything surrounding it is the dark. Simply stepping away from it is enough to turn to the dark itself, it doesn't matter how far or in which direction you step. True balance, then, would be accepting the entirety of the situation, the dark surrounding the light, but remaining within the light, so as to not be consumed by the dark, which the context of the setting in star wars seems to support because of how many characters are consumed by their vices whenever they succumb to the dark. That's why there really isn't any grey jedi, or I guess there would be if they were capable of returning to the light without much corruption, with dark jedi requiring far greater effort, as anything that isn't along that single line is immediately under the influence of the dark side.

      You would be correct my friend, what this content creator is describing would be Grey Sith. The ancient force-wilders were called the Jed'aii & they had balance within the force. They were all brought to one planet & taught how to wield the force, those Jed'aii that leaned more to the light were sent to one Moon to meditate & bring the force back into balance & those that leaned more to the dark side was sent to another Moon for similar meditation they were not allowed to return until they could bring the force back into balance. Those that lean towards the light and could not bring the force back into balance would go on to make what we know as the Jedi order & those that lean towards the dark side and could not bring the force back into balance would go on to make the Sith. Which means both Jedi and Sith orders are flawed in the original teaching they were never to lean towards one side over the other IE balance. The force is based on the principle of yen and yang you cannot have good without evil and vice versa

George Lucas himself stated in an interview that he based the force on the Asian philosophy of yin and yang a concept that describes opposite but interconnected forces. Mace Wendu would be a perfect example of a Grey Jedi, the race he's from draws from the Dark side of the force however he does not fall to the dark side Mace is more balanced with the force. Why do you think the Jedi's vision was clouded by Palpatine because they were not using the force the way it was truly intended to be used

      In some way, I think what Marchion Ro's family and The Path Of The Open Hand are, may be something going in that direction. The Nameless seem like an abomination of The Force Itself (in some ways, like a perverted counterpart to The Bendu), through the reckless practice of Dark Side alchemy (probably by one of The Sorcerers Of Tund, in Phase Two of The High Republic), resulting in something that can overwhelm and/or destroy Force-users (and offset The Force), in general, regardless of their abilities and allegiances to The Light or Dark Side.

Even if the vong directly can’t be affected by the force, these guys would have been powerful enough in the force to match that.

    The way I see it, the actions they took here, choosing not to act, but merely grow in there power, makes a lot of sense for what they were trying to accomplish. If they were to step into a conflict, they would either be embracing the light side of the force in defending the one side, or falling into the dark by attacking the other. While I understand that the Jedi we're weary of their growing power, and the thought of them some day turning their forces on the galaxy, this is just another example of the Jedi failing to maintain their connection to the light by being controlled by fear.
    In the end, these people were following the force in its truest form, mastering both the light and dark sides, while maintaining a balance in the middle.

      @@damaskholdings9140 umm, where have you been? Jedi was derived from Je'daii, which never ever meant, "practitioners of the light". The Jedi order was created for those who chose to follow the light as they wanted to move away from the Je'daii ways to focus on complete and total balance in both the light and the dark. So, instead of calling themselves Je'daii or followers of Je'daii, as anyone could confuse them for still being Jedi as the pronunciation is practically the same, that is why they associate themselves as Grey Jedi. If you were a true fan, you would know that.

      @@damaskholdings9140 Ashla was actually originally the name for "light". If you read Dawn, you'd know that as well. Ashla was later used for describing the force, but Ashla and Bogan were originally used by the ancients specifically stating that Ashla represents the light while Bogan represents the dark. The Je'daii, which you spelled wrong, (not sure how you made that mistake when I gave it to you lol), believed in a balance between the two forces. This was also how the planet Tython maintained its balance. When the first great schism occured, the imbalance negatively impacted the planet's atmosphere. Thousands of years later, only the Jedi and the Sith were, but there were those whom walked in between. However, calling themselves Je'daii sounded too similar to the Jedi order, so, depending on which path they walked, they would, if there was more dark side, be known as Dark Jedi or, if they sought balance, Grey Jedi. Did they call themselves Grey Jedi? No, but Dark Jedi also didn't like being called Dark Jedi cause they hated being associated with the Jedi. Did some call themselves "Dark Jedi"? Only because it's what the Jedi Order called them, but they hated the term. So yes, Grey Jedi existed just as much as did Dark Jedi, Sith, and Jedi. Seriously dude, do your research before challenging a seasoned fan like me. You have no clue what you are talking about.

      @@damaskholdings9140 the light side part of the force, yes, but its not the sum of the force. This is why the Je'daii believed in three aspects of the force. They believed there was the Ashla, (the light), the Bogan, (the dark), and the Bendu, (the balanced or the grey). The force is not just the light, the dark, or the grey, but a culmination of all 3. However, the Je'daii believed it was necessary to maintain balance and walk the path of Bendu or the Grey. This belief would later evole into being one of the root elements for force users whom would be identified as Grey Jedi.

It seems to be some sort of passivity, maybe act only when you can win easily or something like that.

    The Jedi had nothing to say about Grey Jedi, as Grey Jedi do not truly exist in Star Wars, in the movies or otherwise.
    Grey Jedi was started by a video game character in KOTOR, in Bindo.
    It has since become an infatuation within the Star Wars Community, mostly because it’s an intriguing idea, to be able to do “bad” things, for a “greater good”.

    They're probably Force Ghosts but not lost in the madness of the dark side afterlife realm. If they know how to switch to the lightside, they're more than capable of crossing over to escape. Also it's likely they saw their own deaths and the best thing to do for them is to fake their own deaths. If it's still the legends timeline, they probably foresaw the arrival of the Yuuzhan Vong and their eventual defeat resulting in more Force rehabilitated worlds like Ossus and Tython coming back alive again. The same can be done to their homeworld too. Worst case scenario is that they plan to highjack the Vong biotech just like what the New Sith Order did a century after ABY. If the real power behind the Vong's leadership is actually a Force user, then it's not out of the question that it's easier to replace that person. I think what they're probably more afraid of is Abeloth's eventual escape and them being a good targets for her to consume for their strong connection not only to the Force but specifically to the Dark Side. The Jensaarai might seek them out but likely be rejected considering the Sorcerers don't like anyone who's non-pure SIths and both Light&Dark Jedis from the very beginning&doubt that they changed their policy unless it's for good reason.

    There is no such thing as a "grey" Jedi. If you use The Force correctly, according to Its will, you are using the Light side. When your use of The Force is unbalanced by strong emotions then you are using the Dark side. The concept of "grey" Jedi came from a misunderstanding of the Balance of The Force. Yes, there are some Jedi and light-side Force users that have used the Dark side and have not been fully corrupted. This does not make them "grey", just like if someone sins once in a while they are not considered truly evil. They are still just Jedi.
