It does NOT mean that that is who the singer is trying to sound like. they're not impersonators. they have their own unique styles. the OG subscribers know this already.

Just one small criticism if I may: "Her boyfriend's named DAVE... He'd simply kick..." - Why not Rick, or Mick, (or Nick, but no one likes that name, so maybe not Nick).
I just wanted to thank you so much for keeping the pronouns the same! Not only is this a great version of the song, but it's so nice to be able to relate to it properly. And it also gives a fresh twist to the same lyrics, which also elevates the already high quality. I absolutely adore this track, and its story of the shy lesbian crushing on a popular girl. Thank you for making it happen!
The correct lyric is "Her boyfriend's a dick and he brings a gun to school..." They changed the lyric for whatever reason in this version.
I really appreciate this comment. I've been loving each of the songs in their own right, and this is one of my all time favourites. There's no need to sound exactly like a particular artist to pay homage to their style in your own way. There's been too much negativity in the comments lately over very petty concerns.

David Velano it makes you sad that people don't watch American Idol? No one did, that's why it's off air. It's all rigged anyway. Lol! I watched The Voice for the first time this season...and watched beautiful talent get sent on their way while semi-talented Karaoke singers stayed. AGT did great with Grace...then in the UK, talent was flushed for a comical "act" that the judges actually took seriously. Two words: Honey G. That's why I don't watch. I'd rather see her here where she's appreciated.
all the people complaining about her squeaking at the louder higher bits ether didn't read the title or have never heard Janis Joplin sing. because that is how she sounded. hence this being a Janis Joplin style cover.
She doesn't sound anywhere near as raspy or harsh as Janis did. That's what made Janis such a unique talent.
Janis sounded like a chainsmoker, not someone trying to tie a balloon.
It's also a "Janis Joplin STYLE" cover. It's not Janis Joplin. Nobody is Janis Joplin. Elements of her unique style were taken. And this singer, Jax, is outstanding in her very own right, as she emulates music icon.
tbh while I like this singer I think she was the wrong choice to sing this style of cover. Imo Haley with her natural rasp would have made a better fit for this one
If you think this is Janis Joplin's style, you misinterpreted her just as much as these people did. Just because this girl sounds like crap doesn't mean that she is singing like Joplin; Joplin would throw everything she had into the song, this girl is relatively reserved.

As a rule, all pmj videos are fantastic, but this one is just pure amazing. Hands down one of the best ever made. I especially love how they've played with the song to make it more joplinesque.
Loved this. I think Jax did a fantastic job of putting those quavery, shaking, just-can't-reach-'em tones to use to make that curdling effect which really suited the theme, making her sound like as much of a dirtbag as the lyrics describe. Really gets that adolescent self-disdain feel down. And throw in Scott's belting out the backing piano chorus theme in a fashion almost reminiscent of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, and well!

i love the tone better, I think it's lighter than their usual "jazzy feel". A bit tinge of country flavor for me and it worked like magic! Love it!
You've made my day for a couple of days now. This song (cover) makes me feel so sad, and so happy. It's stuck in my head, so i have to come back and listen to it. I know I'm "late to the paty" as they say, and that one comment just blends in with all the other coments, but still, it was great - really makes my day.

Hands down my favorit song from you guys. Jax' voice and song arreangement compliment each other so well.

The quality of living rooms that PMJ films these videos in sure has gotten an upgrade.
I loved it! The moment she started singing had me clicking on the Like Button. The arrangement was a bit off by incorporating Janis' Piece of my heart on the choruses but overall it actually is listenable. It's good, not the best ones but I still enjoyed it. Thanks Jax and PMJ!

Actually, it's not Christmas. It's advent, a time like Lent before Easter meant to be solemn and anticipatory, full of sacrifices, repentance, and preparation before the birth of Christ. The Christmas season STARTS on Christmas and runs through January 5th, but by the time Catholics (OG Christians) are ready to celebrate Christmas the world takes down its decorations, shuts off the music, and gives them the finger because they've been playing that damned Wham song on repeat since late October and everyone on the planet, including us weirdos, is ready to puke if we hear it again. Thus, the secular Christmas celebrating world and modern Christians have more effectively ruined Christmas for me than any Grinch or Scrooge ever could. "Oh Come Emanuel" would be nice though... especially with Christina Gatti.

It’s funny how I’m always surprised when “gun” isn’t censored in this song. I understand why it was censored originally but it’s still weird because “gun” is not typically considered a bad word.
Maybe it was a stab at exactly the fact that something horrible like 'gun' isn't considered bad while something perfectly harmless like 'fuck' is.
I'm from the UK, and therefor gave very little shit about what happened at columbine, or about school shootings. (Not that I approve or anything, just a problem that is literally half a world away from I was)
