    Taken me several days but I've finished! (lovely evening activity) Absolutely brilliant instructions that have saved me a good £300 on a made-to-measure portfolio box, thank you!!!

    Here I am, watching your video 10 years after it was made and it's so useful. Now that I have made mine, I find that laying a longer strip of ribbon or non-acid paper strip across the bottom of the box, then putting in the artwork before laying the ends of the ribbon gently on the top before closing the box, makes it very easy to lift out the contents of a close-fitting box.

      Thanks for the comment! It is very hard to believe this is already 10 years ago! Your suggestion is a good one! I wish you success on your box/portfolio making. All best -Jim

    I really like it a lot .. where do you get the paper to line ?. Thank you

      Thank you for your comment. In this example the artist wanted to use book cloth to line the inside of the portfolio tray. For this portfolio box we selected a bookcloth called Iris. I ordered it on line from a company in Brooklyn, NY called Talas. You will find them on line. Often we use paper to line the inside of the box. You have many choices either on line or from art supply stores. Talas, also sells paper. A company in Michigan called Hollanders sells lots of decorative paper on line. I also order lots of paper from a different company in Michigan called French Paper co. My local art supply stores sell lots of different paper, but do not stock a large supply of book cloth. Where are you located? I hope this helps.

    What tools do you use to spread the glue?

      In this tutorial I use low cost stiff paint brushes.

    What's the thickness of the board

    • @jaescala
      @jaescala  3 роки тому +1

      Hello. That type of board is sold in a variety of thicknesses. In this video, the thickness is 1/16th of an inch. In mm that would be close to 1.5mm thick. That thickness is the one I use the most. For larger boxes, I have used thicker board, but it is hard to cut.

    what exact materials are used?

    • @jaescala

      I purchased Iris book cloth from an online book arts supplier called Talas. You can find them by searching Talas. The board that I used to make the case is called Davey board. It is a compressed board. Talas also sells that product. You can find Davey board in many art supply stores. Some times it is called book binders board or chip board. Hope this helps.
