Thanks for your interest in that, Nahid. There isn't currently a control surface script for FL Studio but you can manually map the controls to parameters in SL MkIII. You could also make different SL templates for controlling different elements of FL Studio using the Components Template Editor: components.novationmusic.com
Ha actually nice to hear a performance. There are plenty of vids explaining the details... having both is a good thing. Not sure I have room for one but it’s great to see Novation doing something different as well as pulling tech from the Circuit and doing something different with it.
It's great to hear that you enjoyed this! Afraid there isn't a longer version but you might want to check out some of CALC's own videos: ua-cam.com/video/cQaJjt_IvH0/v-deo.html
Hi Novation, proud owner of the Novation X-Station (super underrated synth/midi controller) here, and I just want to say to you and other manufactures that FL Studio is a real DAW. It is also one of the most popular DAWs, especially for Dance, Electronica and Hip Hop production, used by world-renowned artistes and producers. Can you please stop treating it like it doesn't exist, and start giving it some support, like you do Ableton, Logic and Cubase. Or am I asking too much? Thank you!
Thanks for your support! It's great to hear that your X-Station is serving you well. Rest assured, we're fully aware of the popularity of FL Studio - we use it too sometimes. We're certainly not denying that it exists, we would love to add deeper integration with our products and hopefully, we will be given the opportunity to do that in the future.
I like this idea . Is it encrusted with shift commands though or functional things hidden on the key board I wonder.. Peace Christo ps anything that aims to get that old computer out of the way is the right direction in my opinion 👽but shift commands are always a point of contention for me .
We're glad to hear that you're interested in this, Christo! We know that menu diving and excessive button pressing can be a workflow killer and we've worked hard to create a controller this is both enjoyable and inspiring to use. SL MkIII does have a layer of functions that can be accessed using a Shift key but it is clearly laid out. Nothing is hidden. If you are familiar with our Circuit groove box, you will quickly feel at home using SL MkIII. It will be hitting stores very soon and we'd recommend that you give it a try.
NovationTV a single layer you say? So push shift and then a function knob to direct the user to the right lane displayed in those screens? Peace Christo
If you haven't already, please watch our 'Deep Dive' video. Chris explains in detail, how to work with SL MkIII: ua-cam.com/video/iruCtkliNUI/v-deo.html You can also take a look at the SL MkIII User Guide here, should you want to learn more about the workflow: customer.novationmusic.com/sites/default/files/novation/downloads/15929/slmkiii-user-guide.pdf
I have a Peak and that has made me love Novation products. It sounds awesome and has clearly been designed with love, care and attention to detail. I don't really need a keyboard based midi controller but would be sorely tempted by this if a version with 37 mini keys were available so I could use it as a 2nd studio keyboard (that I don't really have room for) or as a portable midi controller when travelling. If you could make it wireless/bluetooth (ala Korg Microkey) as well I would be at the front of the queue to buy it! :)
Hey Novation! I love your products and Im totslly happy with my Launchpad Pro... And so i build my own one! Itz a little smaller 6x6 But also RGB and fluffy Buttons! THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION
Just me, or it sounds so messy that I legit thought I had a second tab playing audio at the same time? Sorry mate, I'm probably just missing something.
Looking forward to the desktop version controller of SL III, my keyboard is already enough, I don't need a damn keyboard, just launch the desktop version.
Sorry you're having problems. Have you discussed this with our tech support team yet? They can help you find a solution to this. You can reach them here: bit.ly/NovationSupport
That's an interesting idea. Thanks for your interest in this. We'll share your suggestion with our dev team. They might look into creating a wider variety of sizes and key mechs in the future.
first of all, I dug the video. Super cool. Side note: I found it interesting that on this keyboard he never actually played any of the keys of the instrument
Thanks for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed this. This was actually recorded live. It may not be clear in the video but Chris is actually playing the keys to create the latched, arpeggiated sequences.
NovationTV well I did indeed appreciate it. I just got one of these keyboards and haven’t been able to dig into it. I’m a bit perplexed of the best way to hook it all up (I’m mainly a guitarist and percussionist). I want to hook up a Make Noise 0 Coast, Moog Minitaur, Arturia Drumbrute, and my computer with Ableton/pro tools. Trying to find info that helps. Keep up the good work
This is really impressive and the direction of the video is dope. I’m really interested in the control over the Elektron gear. Right now I have my Remote SL zero controlling ableton and my Remote SL 37 controlling my Monomachine and Analog four along with serving as a key part of my midi clock chain and the analog four serves as a bridge to midi/cv control my modular. This is definitely a huge step up!
The amount of time it would take to set up this keyboard controller to do any of this in the video would be insane !!!! Think about it this way - he already recorded into his laptop all these scenes and he just walked in and hit play on his keyboard and cued up hours and hours of his previous work so that the commercial would look cool !!! Clearly all these buttons and parameters are custom to his set up !!! Nobody would be able to just buy and use it - the hardest part about midi keyboard controllers these days are getting them to work with software and other hardware without trying to figure out what channel there listed on in the DAW and getting hands on !!! They are becoming gadgets - that cost more and more ???? When they should be less and less - we keep Paying the cash so it justifies it really
Think you may be confusing SL MkIII with other, traditional MIDI controllers. SL MkIII comes pre-loaded with templates for many hardware devices, including these. Very little setup was required and the track was composed in real-time using the SL MkIII sequencer- no pre-made scenes.
nice however why would i buy this instead of native instruments komplete kontrol s ? its better and has a much bigger screen (with huge variety of sounds/samples) built in
Thanks for your interest in this, Ali. They're actually very different devices. SL MkIII is designed to function as a central hub for a variety of different creative setups, be they hardware heavy, 'in the box' or a hybrid of the two. If you're primarily looking for a controller for Native Instruments software then this may not be the solution that you are looking for as SL MkIII doesn’t currently support NKS.
I'm use Maschine and bought a KK Mk2 last week. Returned it yesterday and ordered this. The hardware is nice, but the Maschine DAW has some annoying limitations that makes it less suited to trance and the like (for my taste at least). Using KK on anything other than Ableton is not particularly nice, and requires routing and fiddling to get to arp and chord outputs. At the end of the day you've got this 'VST' layer in between. For some purposes that doesn't matter, but it's quite a PITA in things like FL studio. Also the Mk2 took away Mackie control so using the transports in anything other than Ableton is extremely manual and difficult. For my case, I'll keep the maschine for the drum bits, but keep the keyboard part outside the proprietary 'walled garden'. Select your samples in maschine and play them on the keyboard. Try it in the shop, is all I'd say.
Everyone’s asking for 25/37 key versions, I guess I’ll be the guy who asks where the 76/88 key versions are? Lots going on under the hood, for sure. The price surprised me. Thought it might be more.
I'm clueless about what this keyboard can do after watching this video. What is all that gear ? Maybe you could overlay some text to explain what it does, and get a guy to perform a less generic demo. This looks like stock video, nice and meaningless.
We're sorry if you found this confusing, Sofos. This is a performance video, showing SL MkIII in use. If you would like to know more about SL MkIII and what it is capable of, please watch our Deep Dive or Overview videos.
Great and unexpected piece of kit from Novation. It’s been too long. Not sure this was a performance necessary of a keyboard though... there are many controllers that do that so why put it into a keyboard? Would have expected more keys performance.
That's a pleasant and interesting video but you seem to have about every one of your products hooked up. To someone who is looking to see what is needed to proficiently use this product the video is of scary as you think OMG I need ALL of that crap to do this? If you want better sales, Strip out EVERYTHING but the bare bones essentials and re-shoot the video to show off the product you are offering Rating - absolute no use and is a total purchase turnoff. SALES EFFECTIVENESS -- MINUS 7. Fees accepted for sales consulting. That last line just a joke, well, sort of. hehe. Look forward to the possibility of purchasing one of your products if it suits what I'm looking for. I have heard good things.
Thanks for your interest, Martin. SL MkIII is a controller keyboard, designed for hardware and software control. As it doesn't make any sound when used on its own, we paired it with some of our favourite devices to show you what it can do.
I never give a Thumb's Down, but I seriously almost did. I had to hit pause twice just to make sure 2 different things weren't playing at once. This is atrocious! Sorry, but true.
Wouldn’t have been a lot better to give us a 60 second video of the product highlights rather than all the useless camera work showing off a room full of hardware. I don’t care that They borrowed a bunch of kit from all the different manufacturers. Sell my on what the unit can do and save me 2 min of my time.
Hardly any close ups of the actual product itself. Someone didn’t put a lot of thought into this one. Ableton has smiler approach but at least they get all the info into the video on the product too 🤣🤣🤣
Also a big part of this product is the AutoMap software that drives the hardware software integration. Not a single mention of this. I use to own the SLmk2. In it’s time it was fantastic. You’d think they would have mentioned the software given that native Instruments and Akai’s competing products have very strong software implementation.
You removed one of my comments that was absolutely not negative. I was just saying you present the MKIII the exact same day i discover the MKII. Not a good way to congrats a customer for its new acquisition.

GOODBYE ABLETON PUSH 2 !!!!!!.....
Yea and I’m definitely cool with that, never was for me.. This is I’m with
thought about replacing my remote sl (25, mk1) just last night. so this is intersting, but a 25 or 37 key version would be even better for my setup

I thought it was only a 16 step sequencer. That bass line was 4 bars long, 64 steps. Please explain.
zibbybone You can chain patterns together just like the circuit. Ok this case I believe you can chain up to 8 patterns giving you 128 steps.
That's right. This isn't limited to 16 steps.
NovationTV understanding this is indeed the first step

@@youjuhwan9697 This!! There's no product like that out at the moment. A grid-less Push 2.

When will we get a updated impulse!
Thanks for your interest in that, Jorge. What kind of thing did you have in mind? Are there any particular features that you're looking for?
Will it in the future be possible to route the key velocity to MOD1/2?
will there be a 25 keys version? the 49 is to big for my needs :(
That's not something that is currently planned but we appreciate your feedback on this.
@@NovationTV also the zero sl was a great controller back in the days btw :)
Great to hear that you're a fan 🙌🙏
mi chiedo però, come mai sulla MK III hanno tolto il keypad? era una figata!!
Clean up the mess on the floor!
TONAL AXiS haha
He can afford all the gear but can't afford a table xD
Sounds like a soundtrack to an 8 bit video game to me.

I'm with the 37 key crowd. That would be perfect. 25 keys is just too small. In fact, 37 mini keys like the Arturia Keystep would be the best.
