Being a Metallica fan from their beginning, and just loving all kinds of music, this stays so true to the original while making a true acoustic masterpiece.
@@kriskleitsch9173re you nuts? Have you heard Atlas Rise or Spit out the Bone, or seen recent live performances? They are the absolute GOAT of their generation of metal bands
It's one of the most beautiful songs yet one of the darkest aswell. Having different bands/genres cover this song just proves how brilliant they were for making this music in their early 20s. Might be my favorite song of theirs, but it's a hard decision as I hold much of Ride the Lightning/Master of Puppets close to my heart.
@@nealroberts1973 fair enough but Metallica is doing just fine without you. Life doesn't just stop for everyone when ones lost. I think they have done well for themselves regardless considering cliff was a great writer and player and James doesn't know a note on the guitar but still writes great songs and lyrics. Their influence alone is quite astonishing depending how u look at it. Metallica's music has helped millions of people. Myself included. I don't know that I'd be alive today without some of James influence & lyrics when I was young. Particularly fade to black but also many other great songs. 😀 its hard to imagine a world without them and their influence on metal music.
I remember growing up and listening to kill 'Em All, I had never heard Metallica and it blew me away! I was around 12 at the time and I was just starting to learn English as a second language. Now that I look back and listen to this song, it still gets me because Even though, I didn't understand the lyrics at that time, the music, the tone, the guitar riffs they told me everything I needed to know about it's message. Great rendition guys!
First time I heard them was in highschool with fade to black album. That opened up me listening to their earlier stuff which was great. Most of the stuff after fade to black just never had the same appeal for me.
Holy shit. I’m a huge Metallica fan and Fade to Black is one of my favorite songs. That was by far on the of the most beautiful and powerful covers of it that I’ve ever heard, and in a very unique way as well!
The camera work really made that video!! The zooms, circling around the trees, and transition of guitars during the solo between the trees was spot on and added such emotion. I like that they were wearing black, so the forest and guitars stood out more too.
This is how you know the music is breathing. We think that the musician is the living being, but really, the music is the one with a heartbeat, a rhythm, a pulse. The music is the one breathing in and out, and, the music is the one guiding the musician to make it’s heartbeat heard. These musicians feed off of what the music wants, and they are brilliant at feeling that beating pulse. What mastery they have over truly listening to this living soul called music. The music lives. Thank you to the talent that lets the music speak.
As a song that is, was and always will be my one song that means the absolute most to me, I am speechless. I am (admitingly) so critical of covers with this song. But I have to tell you, it made me cry, and gave me 4 minutes of goosebumps. I didn't know who you were before today, but you bet your ass you gained a fan and a follower. Thank you for treating such a masterpiece with respect and doing it a great great justice. Very well done lads!! Might I also complement your skill and abilities!! Thank you so much.
And just in time I was thinking all real musicians were extinct or geriatric and look at these guys amazeballzzz y’all rock keep ‘em coming and keep the inspiration coming ….. u brought literal tears to my eyes !!!
i love acoustic covers of metal songs! this only means that metal music is just music without distortion and it also stops the argument that metal songs are not music and just noise. thanks to 40 fingers and other artist like them that proves how beautiful music is!!! :)
Whoever says metal is just noise has literally never listened to the most popular metal band in the world, so they're automatically excluded from any conversation regarding music. If you think the best Metallica pieces are just noise, you literally have ZERO taste in music
This rendition of Fade to Black made me feel totally oposite to what the original did. For me, the original is a goodbye letter to life. And this version sounds so cheerful/upbeated and I personally don't like asosiating those feelings/sensations with this song. Yet, what you did here is truly beautiful. A perfect example of how timbre/instrumentation, intention and interpretation of the same piece can bring a huge palette of feelings. This is definitively a cover I will show my students whenever I need them to understand how they can manipulate and mold the music with their emotions.
Didn't have to say 1 word from 4 mouths . And I liked and subscribed and gonna share on facebook...Facebook.... BRAVO !!!! WORLD CLASS PERFORMANCE!!!!! Can you do "comfortably numb" and "in this river" ????
Thanks for your beautiful music again! Though it's a sad song, colors and sunshine will be back someday. Never say goodbye to and never give up to wait for the one you love the most. 💖
Sometimes UA-cam suggests absolute gems to you and this was one of those times! And I don't even like Metallica that much, but this cover was fantastic!
Totally agree! I remember listening to Apocalyptica's version of this song and it blew me away. And this is another one that just breathes fresh air to this masterpiece!
Guys, so great. Never heard that song before, this was outstanding, the precise finger technique is incredibly. Wish you all the best for the concerts.
As mentionned in the comments, James Hetfield et al wrote this song in their early 20's, just show how talented they were/are. Enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/N6_BsCaVO50/v-deo.html
it was a masterpiece by Metallica one of favs. seen a few acoustic people do it - its always interesting. Kirk and Jamez were very young writing and attempting this
Love the evolution of youtube videos and creativity from musicians. I bet by the end of the vid there were all kinds of wildlife just happily chilling without a care in the world (as they do) listening to this.
One of my favorite songs of all time, and masterfully recreated by these amazing musicians. I, however get sick watching the continuous camera movement and choppy editing. I just want to watch them perform this incredible song. No creative weird camera work is needed.
I just found you and so happy I did! Metallica is one of my favorite bands and fade to black a favorite song… you are fantastic, wow!! I can’t wait to listen to more of your music!

I completely agree 👍 Metallica family is forever bro 🤘🏻
Totally agree!
How crazy is it to think Metallica wrote this song in their early 20’s. Blows my mind. What a beautiful rendition this is
Just shows what a masterpiece the song was and how great Metallica is.
I think you meant, “what a masterpiece the song IS and how great Metallica WAS.”

The loss of cliff ended the Metallica I love, they had a few good songs after he died, but once his influence ended I never looked back.
