Three or four years ago, maybe five, I noted that while Marvel Studios was churning out one blockbuster megahit after another, based on classic, beloved characters, and loosely adapting some of the most highly regarded stories that had been told in Marvel Comics over the years, Marvel _Comics_ -- the actual comic books themselves -- were sitting unsold on shelves. The reason is that Marvel's comics division went woke. If you had walked into a comic store at the height of the MCU phase one success, you would have seen _none_ of the characters you saw on screen (and whom you had possibly grown up reading if you were a comics fan) in the pages of then-current Marvel Comics. They had _all_ been switched out with diversity replacements. Tony Stark was out as Iron Man; his replacement was a young black female named Riri Williams (they had to change the character name to Ironheart). Spider-Man was a Black/Hispanic named Miles Morales, instead of Peter Parker. Sam Wilson had replaced Steve Rogers as Captain America. Ditto with Jane Foster and Thor. The Hulk was no longer Bruce Banner; Hulk was now an Asian guy named Amadeus Cho. Now in principle, there's no reason why alternate versions of characters can't work. Before DC too went woke, they had introduced alternate -- and sometimes non-white -- versions of characters like Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, et al. But these diverse replacements weren't selling comics at Marvel, because the SJW comics writers working there were _clearly_ laser-focused on "representation" and pushing a political agenda. When good stories and interesting, relatable characters take a backseat to that, the result is inevitably bad. And Marvel Comics' sales reflected that. Woke Marvel alienated longtime readers, and it turns out the most strident voices on social media _weren't_ interested in buying comics and replacing those alienated customers, no matter how much the writers pandered to them. Funny thing is, at the time, I figured Disney, being a business, and (I thought) being primarily interested in _making a profit,_ would jerk the leash on Marvel's comics division and say "alright, knock that off; get back to telling the kinds of stories fans are actually interested in, so your branch of the company stops losing money." I absolutely hate their wokeness. But the bigger problem is that the films have lazy writing, or uninspired, or uninteresting to even look at. Films/ Shows with diversity can go do well, such as Spidiverse, Nemona, Steven Universe. These shows have quality writing, memorable music, and characters that are good people that people actually want to be. Still, Disney need to treat the male protagonists more seriously and with respect. They gave terrible scripts for Thor 4, Dr Strange 2, Indiana jones and star wars
I like Diversity as much as the next guy but when they go too far with it, that's what causes problems, I'm making my own characters and world filled characters and monsters from multiples places all over the world, yes it is Diversity, but I will be including backstory, personality, likes, dislikes and goals for these characters. In fact, I have been working on a Austrailian Crocadile character who's family came from poverty who basically like Kano but he's not a criminal like him. the character's name is Argonaney "Argon" Crocks. While I don't hate LGBT people at all, I don't agree with what they practice and do in their community and being forced to make characters of that ideology (basically doing content for terms and ideology that I don't agree with) I will not be planning on doing anytime soon. I rather create a world that I wanna make and I plan to make it a world where monsters exist as people not from magic but were once in forms of Cherubim and Seraphim, it's basically stuff with references and morality of Christianity. A faith that I strongly live by.

I do not like The marvels movie For marvel, I don't know if the "new character" argument can be used, that's how all famous characters were established, she-hulk has existed for a while, was already known as a lawyer in some instances. For the case of the Marvels movie, Mrs Marvel was established in her own show before being put in a movie, and the other female character was also established in the original captain marvel movie, and then again in the Wanda show, before making it to a movie.
Hollywood is largely dead. They either try to remake great movies from 30 years ago (no creativity these days) or they try to shovel lousy stories with woke political messaging down the public’s throat. Disney is the worst offender of the bunch. I’ll get my entertainment elsewhere
I have a friend who has worked on Disney productions. She said that they’re so paranoid about lawsuits that they micromanage how every communication is worded. You can’t even send an email to another person on the team without someone from management telling you to resend it written with the following words included… (insert string of very specific terms.) She said it’s exhausting and takes up so much time and energy that there’s hardly time left to actually make the film or show.

Three or four years ago, maybe five, I noted that while Marvel Studios was churning out one blockbuster megahit after another, based on classic, beloved characters, and loosely adapting some of the most highly regarded stories that had been told in Marvel Comics over the years, Marvel _Comics_ -- the actual comic books themselves -- were sitting unsold on shelves. The reason is that Marvel's comics division went woke. If you had walked into a comic store at the height of the MCU phase one success, you would have seen _none_ of the characters you saw on screen (and whom you had possibly grown up reading if you were a comics fan) in the pages of then-current Marvel Comics. They had _all_ been switched out with diversity replacements. Tony Stark was out as Iron Man; his replacement was a young black female named Riri Williams (they had to change the character name to Ironheart). Spider-Man was a Black/Hispanic named Miles Morales, instead of Peter Parker. Sam Wilson had replaced Steve Rogers as Captain America. Ditto with Jane Foster and Thor. The Hulk was no longer Bruce Banner; Hulk was now an Asian guy named Amadeus Cho.
Now in principle, there's no reason why alternate versions of characters can't work. Before DC too went woke, they had introduced alternate -- and sometimes non-white -- versions of characters like Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, et al. But these diverse replacements weren't selling comics at Marvel, because the SJW comics writers working there were _clearly_ laser-focused on "representation" and pushing a political agenda. When good stories and interesting, relatable characters take a backseat to that, the result is inevitably bad. And Marvel Comics' sales reflected that. Woke Marvel alienated longtime readers, and it turns out the most strident voices on social media _weren't_ interested in buying comics and replacing those alienated customers, no matter how much the writers pandered to them.
Funny thing is, at the time, I figured Disney, being a business, and (I thought) being primarily interested in _making a profit,_ would jerk the leash on Marvel's comics division and say "alright, knock that off; get back to telling the kinds of stories fans are actually interested in, so your branch of the company stops losing money."
Boy was I in for a surprise!
Instead, the suits at Disney looked at the money-losing, woke comics division, that was busy turning out products that _weren't selling_ and said "YES! Let's do _that!"_
Madness.
But fiscal reality can't be denied for ever. Two centuries ago, Adam Smith observed "there is a great deal of ruin in a nation," meaning an established nation is so large, wealthy, and stable it takes a lot of ruin finally to bring it down. Well, that's also true of huge, century-old, multinational mega-corporations. But Disney is finally proving that "a great deal" is still _finite._

For me, personally, I want to have some degree of assurance that the person on screen representing a character is not a total A-hole. I have Autism, and my main “special interest” has been Disney my whole life. I learned whatever English I know from reading Leonard Maltin's The Disney Films with a dictionary at a very young age in the Eighties. Disney's current insanity is a catastrophe for me. The only really good live-action reboot was Cinderella by Kenneth Branagh. Unfortunately, because it was the first one it obviously gave Disney the belief they could all the others and this would be easy money.
If you want to be technical, the First Live Action remake was Alice In Wonderland.
Cinderella live action was definition of toxic positivity it was annoying rewatching it now
Everything after End Game doesn’t exist, the same for Star Wars episode I to VI, I won’t let my kids watch any more of Disneys mind washing crap!

@@Gino1982 Well, I said especially Andor, so to highlight that as one of the best Star Wars shows. But okay, here are a lot more for you. The Mandalorian, Bad Batch, Obi-Wan, Resistance, Ahsoka, and the Visions series are all good. Well worth a watch.

There were moments scattered throughout the show that were so goofy and stupid that even the child actress mocked them in live interviews. Things like:
1.) Leia running away from kidnappers.
2.) Reva doing slow flips on top of buildings.
3.) That woman KO’d Stormtroopers with a slap.
4.) Kenobi sneaking Leia under his coat.
5.) WAAADDDEEEE!!!
6.) Reva surviving a second gut stab.
7.) Reva teleporting to Tatooine.
8.) Kenobi teleporting to Tatooine to stop her.
Don’t even get me started on Ahsoka!

I absolutely hate their wokeness. But the bigger problem is that the films have lazy writing, or uninspired, or uninteresting to even look at. Films/ Shows with diversity can go do well, such as Spidiverse, Nemona, Steven Universe. These shows have quality writing, memorable music, and characters that are good people that people actually want to be. Still, Disney need to treat the male protagonists more seriously and with respect. They gave terrible scripts for Thor 4, Dr Strange 2, Indiana jones and star wars
To be fair, the scripts they give to the female leads are just as horrible.

I like Diversity as much as the next guy but when they go too far with it, that's what causes problems, I'm making my own characters and world filled characters and monsters from multiples places all over the world, yes it is Diversity, but I will be including backstory, personality, likes, dislikes and goals for these characters. In fact, I have been working on a Austrailian Crocadile character who's family came from poverty who basically like Kano but he's not a criminal like him. the character's name is Argonaney "Argon" Crocks.
While I don't hate LGBT people at all, I don't agree with what they practice and do in their community and being forced to make characters of that ideology (basically doing content for terms and ideology that I don't agree with) I will not be planning on doing anytime soon. I rather create a world that I wanna make and I plan to make it a world where monsters exist as people not from magic but were once in forms of Cherubim and Seraphim, it's basically stuff with references and morality of Christianity. A faith that I strongly live by.

In 2007 a Harvard university professor named Robert Puttman put forth a study that has been suppressed at every turn, showing that diversity is not only NOT a strength, but that it is detrimental to society as a whole. Puttman (who btw is black) found that the differences of race and ethnicity within a community lowers community trust by a huge margin, causes increased crime rates as a social stigma of a low trust situation, and generally lowers levels of happiness in the general public. Diversity being our strength is the most insidious lie ever sold to the public.
It is so sad that the Disney that I grew up in the 1960's has been destroyed. Walt must be turning in his grave.

I do not like The marvels movie
For marvel, I don't know if the "new character" argument can be used, that's how all famous characters were established, she-hulk has existed for a while, was already known as a lawyer in some instances. For the case of the Marvels movie, Mrs Marvel was established in her own show before being put in a movie, and the other female character was also established in the original captain marvel movie, and then again in the Wanda show, before making it to a movie.

Hollywood is largely dead. They either try to remake great movies from 30 years ago (no creativity these days) or they try to shovel lousy stories with woke political messaging down the public’s throat. Disney is the worst offender of the bunch. I’ll get my entertainment elsewhere
I have a friend who has worked on Disney productions. She said that they’re so paranoid about lawsuits that they micromanage how every communication is worded. You can’t even send an email to another person on the team without someone from management telling you to resend it written with the following words included… (insert string of very specific terms.) She said it’s exhausting and takes up so much time and energy that there’s hardly time left to actually make the film or show.
Everyone with kids are scared to watch them with their kids.

A seventy-two years old, I remember when - living at RAF Benson as a child - our week of sequential Disney Films was interrupted by the news of the assassination of America's President Kennedy. I was raised on Disney Films; cartoons and 'natural wildlife' programmes. I despair at what the Communist 'woke' inserts (including the CEO?) have done to this huge American success-story.
