Thanks for the daunting clarification as to the direction of California's Fish & Game regulations pertaining to rockfish and other related regulations. It doesn't take much imagination to prognosticate a future when anglers will be so tethered in rules and regulations that it will be virtually impossible for them to feel the exhilaration of freedom out on the water that so many of us 'old timers' took for granted many decades ago. Remember hoop-netting for California spiny lobster BEFORE the 'report card' was necessary? When asked prior to its enactment if the resource was in trouble, he replied, "Oh, no! It's actually quite healthy ...we just felt like there was a need for more REGULATION." If this type of logic continues to prevail, the end is near.
@@realworldangling Nothing against the stimulus crowd looking to become "3ntrepeneurs" but fishing is more than the gear.. thanks for tackling the Regs and the hunt for those not so glamorous deep dwellers!!
@@HBLeftCoast1I bought it on Amazon. It’s a Nakonic Trolling Motor plug. The electric reels don’t draw too many amps so this is plenty plus I love the locking collar and quick release
Thank you for taking time to explain! This only pretains to kayaks and boats right? We can still fish for rock fish from shore from what I understand under the current limit regulations?
Yes these regulations are pertaining to boat and kayak based anglers. There are some different regulations for shore based anglers. I will make a whole new video for any changes for 2024 and try and included a little spot for the shore anglers
@realworldangling thank you, I'm bringing my sons for some shore fishing over Christmas break so we'll be heading to the northern California cliffs. Inmay bring my kayak for a little halibut trolling and maybe some crab sharing. Just going to hit route 1 and see what we can get into. Thank you again!
The 9 would be open until December 31st as long as you are fishing outside the 50 fathom line. Best thing is to plug in the waypoints so you know you’re outside.
Rockfish are not gamefish though. Why are the gamefish gone from so. Cal? I fished it 70s and 80s huge supply of gamefish then 1. overpopulation of seals and sea lions. overfishing, and Im sure a few other factors. I have a solution. Catch and release for a period of time. two years?
problem is the people who break the laws/regulations will alway break them and half of them are foreigners fishing in US waters and they will always get away with it cause the US wont hit them hard. ps I spent more time watching the video behind you and missed what you were saying
I respectfully disagree with most of what you said. I’ve known plenty of people that have broken the law over the years because they knew they could get away with it. The foreigners you speak of my break they law because they don’t know any better. Ignorance is no excuse but intentionally breaking the law is worse in my eyes. I left the video on the tv on purpose.

I can see you’re point of view however we used to be limited to 300ft and it’s slowly been opening depth wise which gives us access to more species.
You're absolutely right on that point! As 'they' say, " 'Tis an Ill Wind that blows no good".
Great video, I really needed something to be able to go back and reference 👌👍 my brain always tries to betray me 😂👍🎣
Happy to help!
Thanks for putting together this video. Every year it always seems like something changes. Appreciate you doing this.
Thank you so much for watching! Hopefully this makes it a little easier to understand!
Thank you for posting this video brotha! Tight lines 🤙
No problem 👍
Great info! Thanks for taking the time to post this!
Thanks for watching!!!
Very thorough, great video!! The visual cues of the fish are awesome. Great to see a Fisherman that does UA-cam instead of The opposite..
Thank you! I’m definitely a fisherman doing UA-cam for sure!

Thanks for posting this! Does this mean the 9 mile in US waters will be open for rock fishing as of Saturday?
Sorry I thought I replied! Yes the 9 in us waters is open to rockfishing!
Great video! Let's go fishing soon!
Definitely! I used to own a 2310DV and loved it. I’ll be fishing dee Thursday, looking for Blackgill
@@realworldangling I have a few honey holes around the 302 spot just south of the boarder. Easy limits in Mexico but only can bring home 5!
@@El_Sueno_ I'm good with 5! They are hands down the best eating rockfish to me
Aaron so does that mean we can fish at the 9 miles banks from April 1 til December 31?

Thanks for the vid, are you sure Whitefish aren't open year-round now?
Yes, if you watch a 2:10 I added a call out that they are open year round moving forward.
What’s the minimum size limit for black rockfish (12” or 15”)?
No minimum size

I believe everything is cyclical...the environment is every changing and very adaptable...

Not sure what you mean?
Turn the TV off behind you when recording very distracting. Good video on fish and tackle.
I actually left the tv on and on mute intentionally, but I understand your point.
That’s what I was going to say. I caught myself watching the t.v behind him, and was very distracted. Great tips though.
@@breamhookthe main reason I left it on is because I didn’t get to do any fishing in this episode. Duly noted for next time though!
