Good one Sir, Excellent advice. I have found that water quantity can be a lot reduced. People can get by on a lot less than that 5 Litres per day if you have to.
Thank you Steve, very helpful. I must agree that prepping has been “ camo’d” if you not wearing it or buying it you can’t be a prepper but as you say, it can’t be further from the truth!
@ I know you do 😊, sorry my msg didn’t quite come out right. When people Google prepping in many cases it is all Amy surplus, camo etc , but prepping is so much more than that. Hope that makes sense . In no way I was addressing your dress sense 🥰
It's ok, I know what you mean and it can be stereotypical and off putting to beginners. I was into military gear and camo before I ever knew about prepping!😃
Such great advice. I started with an alternative way to make a cup of tea if the power and water went off. It was a nice start without it being overwhelming. I bought a camping stove, gas, kettle, water etc so it was also an alternative cooking and boiling water source.
Great advice Steve but if I may add an item. A bug out caravan. In the UK we never experience much in the way of long term disasters so a bit of this and a bit of that will get you through. BIG BUT, the way the world is we could be facing a major SHTF. If the SHTF takes out power, comms and totally disrupts the NHS then law and order goes out the window. Doesn't matter how much preps you have in your city house someone will come along and take it, and you may get hurt. So the best first prep you need is a cheap second hand Caravan parked-up on one of those Farmers yards the do winter caravan storage. Pick one that you can get in a reasonable time but well away from the City, and also with a small village not too far away. Get to know the village shop keepers and other in the village community. This is were you will survive!
@@everydayprepper I'm fortunate in that being retired we could move to the county. My family work in the city but they know to get to our place when things get immanent. I really believe that the city will be the last place you want to be. That is why I suggest getting somewhere you can bug out to which is well away from a city. I also think due to all the current conflicts and if the Orange one wins then the next 2 years will be the most dangerous time in modern history.
Beyond the basics one thing can start to feed into the other, walking, outdoors stuff is exercise, take a foraging book on your walk, do a bit of plant spotting. Use your outdoors kit so you know you have the right stuff you need, that needs repairing, maintaining, modifying. The stuff you foraged needs preserving. You now know a little about preserving, have a go at a veg garden next and preserve some of that and so on. Maybe more swapping hobbies and interests than doomsday, the telly's s*it these days anyway!!!!😅😅😅
As four of the five nuclear power plants are going to be shutdown by 2028 with the first two being shut in 2026 with not even one new nuclear power plant ready to come online before they are shutdown I can see the real possibility of power cuts before the end of this decade. Be able to have some 1970’s nostalgia 😂
Good advice, and certainly prepping can be overwhelming! I agree with you on how to start out, and to focus on food, water, shelter and health at first rather than a particular disaster - it's the foundation to all preps, regardless of the situation or type of prep. My go bag is literally my camping bag, I just chuck an extra dry bag with a few bits in it if it were a 'go' situation. Surprisingly, it took a while to work out that if I can survive up on Dartmoor for a few days with the bag, it'll do me good as a go bag!
Great reminders, great common sense as usual ! You did one video , that always sticks in the back of my mind because of advice you had re been prepared... " How would my everyday life be effected ", best advice I ever had , why because it keeps everything real. Cheers Steve

Thanks Ana. I do love my camo though!

Not as easy for a beginner but I luckily have a caravan, although on my front garden and also a boat which is a handy go to if necessary.

Hi steve. Nice to have a back to basics beginning guide. Good to reset and get some ideas.
Would like to see a series. Off to Amazon now 😢

Spot on, thank you.
Current situation out East, might mean fuel shortages, think about a bicycle and a bike trailer.

Look forward to it. 🤣
Especially if the wind don't blow and the sun don't shine!!
Good advice, nice one 👍👍
