I've been looking at so many articles and videos on how to adjust the space between words. This video not only worked but was super easy to follow. Thanks Erin :)
Would love a video on how to fix spacing when font is the same as rest of page and isn't the issue. Do you have any videos on how to directly fix spacing instead of fixing font?
wow.. Ms.Wirght, thank you very much for your video. The way you explained the WORD SPACING really clear and very simple. Your video helped me a lot to make my word documents more attractive. Please Continue your good work. Wish you good luck. Thanks again.
Thank you, this is very helpful. I don't want to change my whole word page because there is one header which is two lines, just reduce it and it becomes one line again >.
I'm using Word Office Home & Business 2021. I automatically put 2 spaces at the end of a sentence (learned to touch type on a manual typewriter), and can't get out of that habit. How do I alter Word's grammar preferences to accept this as OK, or alternatively to change my 2 space input to 1 space as I type? Thanks in advance.
Great question! Select the File tab > Options tab > Proofing tab > Settings button > Choose "Don't check," "one space" or "two spaces" in the Space between Sentences menu > OK button > OK button.
@@erinwrightwriting Unfortunately my 2021 version does not have an Options tab under the file tab, or any other tab. I also checked preferences and file properties, and still can't find the one or two space options.
I do have an older tutorial on finding special characters (ua-cam.com/video/KefKLO2jK-4/v-deo.html). I will put equations on the list for the future. Thank you for the suggestions!
hi erin, i accidentally removed the space from a word and time like so sentence6:05:04 would like to see sentence 6:05:04 is there a wildcard i can use to include the space back?
Thank you for watching! You might not want to do a Replace All to return the space because it may cause additional problems. However, you may want to use the wildcards [0-9]:[0-9][0-9]:[0-9][0-9] and [0-9][0-9]:[0-9][0-9]:[0-9][0-9] to find all occurrences of your number format and then add the space back manually. Best of luck!
When I copy text from software, for example-"16 Come" the space between the 16 and come is always this way on all paragraphs in this software and when transformed to Word I always have to right click to highlight and as it suggests it would be better for one space between words and I agree but always have to manually do this to hundreds of text when I copy and paste these paragraphs. It pastes as the default of Time New Roman at 12 pt, which is good but the start of the paragraph is always like this when pasted here. I have watched this tutorial with no effect on this doc, but the tutorial is great, don't get me wrong, just not affecting this one, what can I do??? This is a major problem for me.
Thank you for watching! Generally, extra spaces are included when copying and pasting because the software assumes they were deliberate. One workaround is the remove all the extra spaces at once. I have an older tutorial that shows how to do that: ua-cam.com/video/TSv0ZExUYco/v-deo.html. I wish you all the best!
Thank you for watching! Depending on how you removed the spaces, you may be able to correct the situation by selecting all the text and then selecting the Normal style in the Home tab. Best of luck!
Thank you for watching! You can save your file by selecting the File tab followed by Save in the Backstage view. Or, you can select the file icon in the top, left corner of the screen. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + S on your keyboard.
I am sorry to hear that you are having an issue adjusting your word spacing. I just tried this method in a table and it did work, so I'm afraid I don't have any further recommendations other than to ensure your whole table is selected before selecting the Replace button. I wish you all the best with your Word project!
Thank you for watching! To reduce the space, select a smaller font size than your text size in the Replace Font dialog box, as shown at about 02:50 in the tutorial.

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work on other languages like Arabic.
