    I know most of your audience isn't in the military, but for active duty military and their spouses the annual fees for Chase and Amex are waived. It's an awesome benefit, and why I stick with Chase and Amex lol.

    This was a really great comprehensive comparison. You mentioned the simplicity of the Venture X... This is really what I like about it. Since I only travel a couple times per year, getting full use out of it will be easiest for me. It would be fantastic if Cap1 opens a lounge in PHL or EWR!

      Thanks so much Joshua, appreciate it man! Yeah I think Capital One did a good job with keeping it simple. And I would love to have a Capital One lounge in one or both of those airports! PHL is my home airport so any more lounges would be great

    Premium travel! These 3 cards have each made a name for themselves in the premium travel space. Overall, I completely agree with your summary of each of the cards. I think of the Amex Platinum as a truly luxury travel card that only makes sense if you travel frequently every year and are going to take advantage of enough credits to cover that annual fee naturally. The Venture X is the best option for most people looking to get started in the world of luxury travel cards in my opinion. The lower AF and ease of use of the credits make it a really solid card and the lounges they're building are an added benefit! The Chase Sapphire Reserve just hasn't distinguished itself enough from the Chase Sapphire Preferred, so I have a hard time recommending it when you can get 80% of the value from a $95 annual fee card instead. At the end of the day, all 3 of these cards provide great value for specific people, and great job breaking all of these down so thoroughly yet succinctly Daniel!

      Thanks so much Spencer - and thanks for catching that "Premium Travel" phrase too! Yeah all 3 have good things going for them but you pretty much summed it up right there - I love my Amex Platinum and excited to try out the Venture X soon as well

      @@Daniel_Braun Of course man! Always love watching your content. Once I'm applying for personal cards again, the Venture X is one of the ones at the top of my list. By then though, there may be some more premium travel cards out there that rival it (Citi??) so we'll have to see.

    The best thing about the venture x is that's its a flat 2x points per dollar regardless of category rather than the lower return of some of the other premium cards. Chase does 3x or 4x on specific categories but when people are honest with themselves it's pretty clear that most people's spend isn't all in those categories. Not to mention if you get the cap on savior or savior one you can get 3-4x back on all those same categories that chase has and than just transfer the points to the venture x for travel booking.

    I love my coupon book! 1 month and already save $142 from offers and that doesn't include phone, internet and insurance savings which is about $70 in statement credits so far(This goes into December) >> Auth users get to double up on offer btw. About 5k in Amex points on Rakuten. Did I mention that I get paramount free with the Walmart plus that they pay for (I watch a lot of soccer) and the digital credit pays for my entire HULU bill (with student credit of course). Also I put all my bills on the card invested in MULN and made a 60% profit on the cash I would've spent. At this point I don't even care if I travel and yeah that 125,000 bonus is just sitting there.

Have you addressed the pro/cons of booking travel via these 3rd party portals vs direct?

      @@DJ-rk6wh Wait till your 65 - you'll be ready for a big European cruise as well. (It is for 2 btw), and includes airfare. Yeah, so trying to strategize cc's to earn points on this splurge.

      @@lilafitzgerald4742 that sounds like it's going to be an amazing trip. And if you have to drop 25k all at once then maybe go with the VX. They do 2x points for everything (you'll rack up 125k in points with that one purchase). Sapphire is only 3x point for the first $300 and Platinum is only 1x for everything. But I haven't had an issue with Chase's portal so far and I've done a few flights with them. In preparing for my cruise in January I'm using C1s portal to fly to MIA. And from the looks of it the flights are either on par or cheaper than booking directly with an airline. My only disclaimer is I only will use those portals for flights and nothing else as I'm part of a hotel loyalty program with a different CC. But to me the only big difference with the Reserve and the VX is that you get 50% more value on your points when you use the Chase portal. I guess a big thing to look into is what kind of travel insurances are offered as well. I personally have never had to use them and I hope I never do lol. I don't have an amex so I can't really speak too much on them. I personally did the VX because I only travel 2x a yr and the card will pay for its self without to much thinking on my part.

      @@DJ-rk6wh Great thoughts - much appreciated. Prob should have done the VX vs Platinum, but too late now. 3rd party portals are fine unless something goes wrong, then you've got a hurdle between you and help, imo, but 50% more lift may be worth the risk. Yeah, travel insurance is the next investigation. NerdWallet has a decent article on the topic. Thanks again. You should expand (further) into personal finance - you have a good, clear approach.

      Thanks for watching Joey! I really like the Venture X, but I would agree with you that the Sapphire Preferred card is probably the best place to start. I have that one myself and it was my first "travel credit card" with an annual fee - definitely still one of my favorites for the 1 to 1 transfer partners in my Chase Trifecta. But I think later on the Venture X could be good for you if you want a travel card that offers more benefits too

    • @Daniel_Braun
      @Daniel_Braun  2 роки тому +1

      It's one of the best for airline partners that you can transfer points to - especially for long distance international and/or business and first class flights. It's cash back redemption value is very bad though, so not a good card to redeem points for cash back. Here's a video that broke down how to redeem Amex points to explain better: ua-cam.com/video/nQ-BjcpIAmA/v-deo.html

    I don't see how being easy to use makes the X a "beginner" or step down card. If you're paying high annual fees you shouldn't have to jump through a million hoops to gain access to all the card benefits. They should be bringing it to you on a silver platter.

If you have amex platinum can you also get a Charles Schwab, gold card, etc and get the welcome offer? How does that work, I've heard that amex is very restrictive on welcome offers, etc.

I mainly just go on vacation once a year to either a cruise or travel to a city. Are point card worth it to me knowing I just have 2 weeks a year for personal vacations?

    Hey Daniel, new subscriber here! Great video! Had a quick question regarding the CSR and the VentureX
    I currently have the AMEX platinum and have been thinking about adding another travel card to my portfolio. One thing that hinders me from getting the VentureX is the limited amount of travel partners. Although it has two times points compared to the one point on chase sapphire , I value Hyatt as a better transfer partner than the ones I’ve seen from venture X. What do you recommend should be more of a priority: 2x points from VentureX or the ability to transfer to Hyatt with Chase Sapphire?

    Not hard to put a value on airport lounge access, doesn’t priority pass cost like $450 if you buy it yourself?

    • @Daniel_Braun
      @Daniel_Braun  2 роки тому +1

      Some people haven't used the airport lounges before so I've always found it helpful to look at my annual fees - credits to see my effective annual fee to figure out if the lounges are worth it to me. For example, if I got no value out of the Amex Platinum credits and my annual fee was $695, then the lounges aren't worth it to me. But if I'm getting $640 of value like that example in the video, then the effective $55 is a good deal!
