    I have a small farm in Okaloosa county and a house in Crestview. It’s a great area. Been here for 30 years.

    My fiancé and I just relocated to Florida from Illinois in a rural area about 35 miles north of Panama City Beach in Bonifay. Lots of little towns in this area! Loving it so far, not at the beach but not far away now is definitely very nice!

      Welcome to the Emerald Coast! Glad to have you here! The little towns dotted around the area are one of my favorite parts of living in this area just because they all have unique aspects to them, whether it be restaurants or interesting beaches.

    We live over in Choctaw beach. Just across the bay, We moved here primarily because of Destin harbor, Destin in general, all the excellent restaurants Also. Their is vortex springs, For scuba divers, cypress springs, great for kayaking , and turkey creek which comes out in the middle of Niceville

    Hi Garrett, a couple things:
    1. You may already have a video out on the different "personalities" of the communities along 30-A, Destin and PCB. That would be interesting to learn more about.
    2. There are other areas a little further east that provide much different experiences in a beach environment. Saint George Island, Cape San Blas, Mexico Beach, Apalachicola, for example. Some people that are looking to get away from the hustle-and-bustle of the crowds might find these interesting.
    Anyway, I enjoyed the video. Thanks!

      Hey Greg! Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment! We'll definitely try to get a video in production talking about some of the more eastern towns on the Emerald Coast. Gives me a reason to take a coastal trip and get some B-Roll! Haha

    We are looking at the central coast (Bradenton or Melbourne). However, considering the panhandle as we'll be year-round residents and have kids. Where is a safe, small coastal town with good schools?

    • @livingontheemeraldcoast6216
      @livingontheemeraldcoast6216  3 роки тому

      Hey Holly Lu Mae! That's a great question. As a matter of fact, many of the schools on the emerald coast are highly rated. I would recommend looking into Niceville and Fort Walton Beach. Both towns have really good high schools as well as middle and elementary schools. In terms of safety, both are very safe and great for raising families. Both Fort Walton Beach and Niceville have quick access to the water. Although, Niceville only has access to the Choctawhatchee Bay, but through that, you can get to the Gulf. I'd be more than happy to answer any other questions you have. Give us a call at 850.312.1550.

    Is there more rural area but stil able to commute to the city and beach? Looking to relocate from MI in about three years. Like to live a self sustainable life, grow my own food but still love the beach and city. Thanks.

    • @livingontheemeraldcoast6216
      @livingontheemeraldcoast6216  3 роки тому +2

      Hey @MaryHadALittleFarm! Yes, there are more rural areas to live. If you look a bit farther north of Fort Walton Beach and Destin, there is Crestview, Defuniak Springs and a number of other areas that offer larger plots of land where you can raise cattle, grow your own food, and have ample privacy. Crestview probably takes about 30-40 minutes with light traffic to get to the beach.

    Are you an agent? We are definitely relocating to this area soon. Interested in a more rural but close to the water as my career is building sport fishing boats. We are selling our property soon and we are in a time crunch.

      @@livingontheemeraldcoast6216 Thanks for the response. We will not be looking for a million dollar home on the water. We are looking for more rural but close enough to commute to the water. We would like to be all in at about 70k. CASH! We have an rv but would like property with utilities installed. Another option is a smaller home ready to move in. Would also like some sort of an out building. Good size outbuilding. Off to work now but will contact you directly as this transition gets nearer. Kick some tires and get back to me if you find anything. I realize this may not be a huge money maker for you.

    Where's a good area near Panhandle that's less populated and more family friendly...less touristy?

    • @livingontheemeraldcoast6216
      @livingontheemeraldcoast6216  2 роки тому +1

      Hey there! First towns that come to mind would be Panama City, Navarre, Mary Esther, and Crestview. I will say that pretty much every town and city on the panhandle are going to have a level of tourism since people will be looking for alternative places to stay to save money, but they are significantly less busy and very much more affordable compared to the likes of Fort Walton and Destin. You might even consider looking into Freeport. It's a growing area that isn't very far off the coast, but it is in close proximity to the bay.

      Check Hammock Bay in Freeport. Far from traffic along US 98 and Destin where you have bumper to bumper traffic often. It has phenomenal amenities, walking trails, fishing pier, and it's a new community and very safe. It is on the Chocta Bay only about 20-25 minutes to beaches on US 331. There is a new neighborhood on the Bay called Steamboat Landing. A golf course is also nearby.
