- I put a lot of time into completing all of the Minigames in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Like. A lot. And honestly, while I had fun doing most of it. I'm not quite sure in retrospect that all of it was worth the time that I put into it. While Square Enix has undeniably crafted one of my favorite games of all-time in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, there were many moments while playing it that made me question my own life choices, and I feel like this probably isn't an isolated experience for me. And so I need to talk it out because minigames like Cactuar Crush, Crunch-Off, and 3D Brawler still haunt my nightmares to this day.

I has no PS5, so I just watch people suffer through the mini games instead of playing them myself.
A lot of them are really good. But these ones. Oh God.
The 3D Brawler becomes much easier once you learn how to effectively pause buffer. You still have to learn the inputs for each attack, but it’s easier to react to.
As for Gears and Gambits, I just looked up a guide for the optimal builds once I got to hard mode.
As bad as Cactuar Crush was, it was nowhere near as frustrating as the Chocobo glider game. The controls are so awkward and frustrating.
Also the Ultimate Party Animal side quest had a bug in one of the patches where it wouldn’t register that you got a high enough score in the bike minigame. I think it’s since been patched out, but at the time I had to uninstall the game, and reinstall it without the new patches.
The most difficult thing in the game, however, is the post game combat simulator challenges. Even with guides, they were some of the hardest challenges I’ve faced in any game ever. Good luck and thank you for coming to my ted talk.
I actually liked the Glide de Chocobo a fair bit! The last level was definitely tricky though. I had heard about the pause trick but I let my pride get the better of me and I forced myself to do 3D Brawler without any pauses.

I didn't even know about this minigame
Gears and gambits was the easiest mini game for me. I just used the last configuration I used to complete normal mode and it was good enough to carry me through when I did it again on hard mode easily. Although it disables the feature to auto build your team in hard mode it saves your last configuration so I just breezed through it with the auto built team I used before.
Personally I was having enough fun doing 100% fresh file, and the only mini game I had an issue with was the same song as you talked about (was like whiplash when the next song came and it was fun again), but after the UPA sidequest glitched, and I got the Gbike score requirements both before and during the quest and wouldn’t clear, I gave up an rushed the rest of the story (I did the entire ocean scavenging thing as well, but not Gil’s island), and finished chapter 1 hard mode, then dropped the game, I still think the game is good, but that bit of sourness is just sticking with me discouraging me from going back for the stupid Inn stuff.
that one freaking quest glitched just pulled me out of the game so much, not helped by how fast the final boss killed me in like phases 4 and 7 (spoilers below), and the unskippable cutscene for retrying those phases just felt annoying
It’s the Zack and Cloud (also a little bit of the solo cloud segment) and Aerith and Cloud phases. Like why is the almost 50 seconds of cutscene to enter the phase unskippable?
I’m sorry you got hit with the UPA glitch! I was lucky and didn’t start it until the glitch was resolved.

The thing i hate the most about ff7 rebirth is that im a stoner and these minigames require more brain power then killing monsters and riding big bird so it just agrivates me. Ff16 was better all i need is story and hunts

I love loads of mini games. But. Even the ones we like can suck the life out of us. Like that stupid Piano. 😂
So much about "Rebirth has the better Open World and the way you pick up items shows that the game respects your time more". Yeah, sure m8.
People needs to see that SquareEnix has gone to trash by throwing everything on the FFVII franchise. It's all cash grab and lack of originality/creativity.
