After tackling dinner and after-work chores we talk about all of our plans for the upcoming weekend and then Sherri show us a little contraption she made to conquer the midnight sun of Alaska. At the end of the vlog, Sherri steals my money. Rude. HA!

Have you ever thought about tinting your windows like you would for a car? My mom lives in Florida and her two guest rooms get a massive amount of sun in the mornings and makes the rooms very hot since it’s 100 outside. You could put tint on in the summer and remove in the winter. Although it may not be dark enough for Sherry. The foam board seems good or black poster board may work too. I’m with Sherry I like it dark and I would leave it all day too. 😊
I work grave shift , so as a day sleeper… I totally understand Sherri when it comes to the tiniest bit of light coming through

I love Sherri's janky window coverings! That's a great idea. I would also struggle to sleep with that much light flooding into the room.
The window treatment is a nice idea. I would make it into one piece , add a handle ( or strap) so it could be placed and removed in one motion :)
I’m with Sherri on this one. I live in Seattle I’ve got film on the windows, blinds and black out curtains and it’s still not enough. ❤

Great idea Sherri. I lived in a house that was so cold all winter I had newspapers taped over the window panes cos I didn't think of foam board.

I actually saw the window idea in a magazine several years ago. I’m pretty sure the people had a company make their panels to fit all the windows in their room. I think they were tight enough to stay in place on their own. I thought about making some, but the light didn’t bother us enough, so I never did. Great idea, though!

I'm very light sensitive as well, even with eye shields on, the light the tiny bit of light sneaking through the sides of the shield keeps me awake. The lights on the electronics in a hotel is maddening to me, so I get it. My husband is like you Adam, no problem falling asleep with the lights on and sun shining. LOL Sherri team for sure! Neither one of us ever has cash but I do take his credit card, so there you have it.

I would totally buy roadside home made bread! :)
I would see if there are any of those reflective vehicle window covers that accordion that are close to the right size. It would be easy to fold up and down to store during the day.
When we go to Hawaii we always buy banana bread etc from roadside stands. Always delicious!

I understand Sheri. I have to have it very dark. Just like you. But! My husband can sleep with the light on. Even my hearing aid charging with the green light bothers me. 😂 That's us. Watching the vlog was so true. I kept shaking my head yes you go girl!! Make it dark 😂
Those are good prices for homemade baked goods! It restores my faith in some people to know you can sell on the honor system on the side of the road in this day and age.

I hear ya Sherri, especially when we go away to a hotel I always have cover up the alarm clock or I’ll bring a hair clip to clip curtains to hide that little space so I def get it, good job! Great thinking !
Be careful with the foam board. I did that to my windows in Minnesota and they grew mold due to condensation. I taped them up the entire time though. So, since you take them down every day and let the air flow, you might not have that problem. I hate light too.

Having kids in Alaska would be so hard! Its still light out here in NE at 830-9.... my little kids just insist its daytime! I can only imagine if they woke up at 3am and were like GOOD MORNING The suns awake so Im awake!
Ha! Exactly! Growing up in Alaska was so weird because you would watch TV shows where they would say “come home when it gets dark!” And I would think… “I wouldn’t be home until September!” 😂
I feel you, Sherri! I worked nights for several years and sleeping during the day was a constant struggle for me. ☀️ Even one sliver of light can make an impact!
I’m with Sherri, I can’t imagine having light beaming through when I’m sleeping. I need total eclipse of darkness to sleep well. I created the same thing with cardboard because like you Adam I love plants 🪴 and I have a jungle in front of my window so they need sun so at night I would place the cutout cardboard and in the morning remove it .😊

I’m excited to see the new coffee shop up and running. And I definitely would stop at that road side stand for baked goods.
We have business lights from blocks away shine in our windows so i put black poster foam board behind shades on that window. We dont use that window tho.

Sherri I’m the same way about light! Especially like digital clocks, chargers, etc and it drives my husband crazy! It makes me crazy too though.
I use a great “cushioned sleep mask” from Target. It is a must for me to block out light.

next time you go to costco pick up a couple of slip sheets from the pallets and might be able to make it just 1 solid piece for the window!

I have worked 3rd shift for years. I can sleep anywhere. Light or dark. Lawn mower, weed wacker, construction outside. Doesn't matter.

My dad uses a big sheet of cardboard for his windows in his bedroom to block out light.

I totally get why he lights ae a bothe. I ear I a see light right through my lids. I sleep with a sound machine and an eye mask.
I can’t see any weeds. It was 10pm here and still light here in the UK. You can buy black out curtains here too.
I used to drape extra sheets across the top of the curtain rod to try and solve the light issue. So impossible to get every little bit of light!
There is ALWAYS little bits of light that sneak through!

Yeah, the vast majority of the lodges are filled with cruise passengers, but they do also welcome individual travelers!

Yeah, we have those. And a they still let a bit of light in around the edges

I am with Sherri I hate light when i'm sleeping I have to be in pitch black room My husband calls me the vampire. Me and my husband only has one wallet He never ever used a wallet.
Not trying to be rude but there are blackout shades/drapes. You could even do blackout drapes AND BLACKOUT shades under. That looks really bad ya’ll. Super tacky. 😮
We have blackout shades AND blackout drapes already, as was showed in the video. We are OK with tacky since it's effective.
