We Had THE WORST TIME At Disney's NEW Lookout Cay At Lighthouse Point

- Lookout Cay At Lighthouse Point is Disney Cruise line's Newest Private Island destination. We were lucky enough to board the Disney Magic Cruise Ship to be the first to visit Disney Lookout Cay. Lookout Cay at lighthouse point to needs to make some updates. The Way lookout cay is, We found it hard to enjoy fully. Hopefully disney cruise line does something to change this, and be more available to everyone.

"We are on the Mayflower and we're taking our pilgrimage to the new world." Absolutely hysterical!!🤣😆🤣
And that's why I came to the comments. That's new merch right there! Aka "Send it to Darrell" for the the first drink of the day crew... :)
LMAO
Disney should probably add some intermittent shade structures - maybe with H2O misters - but even at a casual stroll pace, this is only a 9 minute walk on a flat, smooth surface. Excluding those with physical limitations, we have become soft, like the passengers of the Axiom from WALL-E.
They also should add some benches in case people start walking out and realize they need a break.
Yup
It's not a private island, it's Eleuthera. It is an island in the Bahamas with people who are very proud and some who are not very happy about the whole Disney takeover of the Southern part of the island. Some of that "private beach" to the North is public.
There are other ships that dock on the other side of the island.
No amount of relaxing on the beach is going to erase the memory of that walk back. That's the last memory you are leaving the island with. When we were at CC, we stayed until the last trams and zipped back to the ship. It was delightful because we were still high on beach fun when getting back on the ship.
I love your name, it's too bad we couldn't have met on the cruise that would have been funny
@@mattdewberry5728 Hahaha! They say "coincidence if traced far enough back becomes inevitable" but that is a doozy of a coincidence, lol!
I am not myself when I am hot either!!
This is good to know especially walking that long walkway with small children or elderly 😭
Bring a wagon! Lol
@@TravelSpreeOfficial sooo... screw sick, injured, disabled and just plain TIRED people, then?
Screw parents for not bringing equipment ("just bring a wagon!") nobody knew was needed - and that Disney "outlaws" in the parks?
Oh, and screw anyone not local and not able to haul enormous, heavy equipment on a flight (because only Florida people "matter"?)
In other words, the "I got mine, screw everyone else" typical USA attitude.
Well, typical for a certain... "segment"... of the USA.
That island is, objectively, a barren, unfinished, CHEAP hellhole.
It *IS* inaccessible, hot, unshaded, minimal, food was infested with flies, stores were under stocked, bathrooms were sparse and dirty, staff were clueless/lazy, and it is all CHEAP, gaudy, racist, and very poorly done.
And this is the "best" it will look.
That area is all cheap facades slapped on cheap shanties.
It should have been an embarrassment for Disney to "reveal" THIS.
And this was a "god" Joe Rhode project? Where, exactly was his supposed "brilliance"?
Wow, painted thatched roofs and a few gaudy decorative facades?
Big deal.
How absolutely minimal and disrespectful and cliche.
Where is the creativity?
Innovation?
Inclusion of nature?
Inclusion of all people?
And where did aaaaall the money go?
The money for development certainly didn't go into those Walmart quality "luxury" cabanas, cheap beach chairs, or minimal, bare, unimaginative design.
I've seen better quality facades on movie sets.
Disney Imagineering has utterly, utterly failed. Yet again.
Which simply proves all the talented, knowledgeable Imagineers left a LONG time ago.
A *huge* portion of Mexico looks better than this, at nowhere near the cost.
Columbia has a brand new port/zoo area that puts THIS to shame - it is completely accessible, inclusive, innovative, fully shaded, and very enjoyable.
This "resort" looks worse than a cheap national park, except national parks are *mandated by law* to be accessible, shaded, offer faculties that are FREE, to be built robustly and of good quality materials, and nobody LIES about national parks being ever sooooooo "creative" or "luxury" or "innovative".
National parks are functional, accessible, inclusive, informative and planned by experts.
Disney talked big about this project, and then delivered...
This. 💩
Why on earth can't vloggers talk about the REALITY in front of them?
Is it sunk cost fallacy?
Once you pay for a cheap Disney "cruise" (that *isn't* a *real* cruise, and goes essentially nowhere, and certainly doesn't explore or respect other cultures).
The "private island" three-day-specials with deep discounts for locals are the absolutely cheapest offerings Disney has.
Do vloggers feel they HAVE to justify even that minimal cost by never mentioning problems?
That's so dishonest.
Refusing to discuss problems means offering nothing USEFUL, new, or CONSTRUCTIVE.
Every time Americans have the opportunity to PROVE equality, their actions prove they don't really believe in *actual* equality.
That's true for both corporations and individuals.
Corporations are composed of the demands of individuals, they do not make decisions themselves.
Instead of simply being inclusive and honest, at least half of Americans - and their corporations - have to be threatened and sued into inclusion, decency, respect and sharing.
If Americans really believed in equality, all instances of accessibility failures would be a HUGE ISSUE, deeply offensive, unacceptable, and a dealbreaker for all until EVERYONE was included.
But that isn't what happens, is it? Instead the privileged ignore everything unjust.
The reality is, everyone *will* become severely ill or disabled, if they live long enough.
The vast majority of people will also be parents, either deliberately or "by accident", and all people will be elderly, if they are still here.
The inaccessible, bigoted society that the privileged permit now... is the future for them.
And they deserve it.
I a totally turned off by it¸ what they charge for a cruise and THAT is what they are offering? Disney? Oh well no!
Pushing a wheelchair will be a nightmare
The walk BACK to the ship with kids would be horrendous
Exactly! Gadiators wannbes in the comments calling complainers fat out off shape whiners, but that’s a long hot walk back after a long day on the beach, especially for older folks and people with young kids. But what can you expect from the selfish and thoughtless 🙄
Ben and David had a similar reaction to the length of that walk haha
Yes! And it must have been fly season when Ben & David visited because the buffets were full of flies! Enough to send you back as hangry as hot after that epic hike back to the ship...oy vey!
Very helpful info - I appreciate your honest impressions, which are rare among the early vloggers who are eager to please Disney. You never know if you’re watching an ad.
A 12 minute walk doesn't seem so bad for a relaxing time on the island. Plus if you have been to the Disney parks you are walking all day so what's 12 minutes? It's summer in the Bahamas, wear a hat and bring your water bottle.
That easy huh? lol ok
@@TravelSpreeOfficial Yes. :)
12 minutes for young adult fast walkers. But nearly 100 degrees at like 11am isn't good for anyone not used to it, especially pale northerners, children, seniors and people with disabilities.
The walk BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWS!!!
That's a great point. People who cruise Disney probably go to the parks too. You walk all day at the parks.
As a redhead, I'd have a sunburn before arriving from that walk. 15 minutes in direct sun would ruin my vacation after that point. A "Nope" here until things get built up.
We go next year…hope Disney listens and adds shade! Pre knee surgery I was ok but now it’s making me nervous🥺 walking in heat + cement = swollen knee🤦🏻♀️
My family is going next year too. My dad is in a wheelchair, my sister will have finish chemo and her surgeries, and I have a bad knee. This makes me so mad. The walk is so dangerous. Heat stroke waiting to happen.
@@deo3367 my understanding is they have the golf carts for those who need it. And if I'm correct they have those big wheeled beach wheel chairs. Not sure how well those work though. But that walk, lack of shade almost everywhere, and all those flies. Not sure I would get off the ship. Not sure it's worth it.
Walking is good and something too many people don’t like doing nowadays. It might help people work off the excess food they will have eaten at the bbq earlier in the day.
Thank you Steven
It would be hard for me to walk that with a bad foot!!
I agree, we’ve become a very sedentary society.
Great googley moogley 😂😂😂
😂😅
Surprised water baby Laura didn't try to swim back to avoid the insane walk! 😂😂
Lmao I should’ve
What makes you think Laura could swim back she could barley make the walk. What makes you think she could swim back she would sink lol
It’s for conservation so Disney didn’t dig up the coral reef next to the island…but it definitely needs a tram!
I heard a tram was in the original plan but got scrapped due to budget reasons. Sounds like budget cuts happened around where they were already committed to the project. Just speculation, though.
You know why the pier is so far away. Right? Same with the elevated boardwalks? But yes, they have to have golf carts or transportation for guests with mobility issues. Otherwise, the half mile walk shouldn't be too bad.
We go on Disney cruises occasionally but after seeing that walk from the ship to the shore, I think we would literally not even get off the ship! I don't blame you guys for being a little peeved about that walk in the hot sun, and no shade. Not us, they better fix that, or we'll stay on the ship. Disney!!!!! Give us trams to shore!!! Wow! Thanks for the stream, guys!!
I’m only a couple minutes in but I can tell you right now that island better be all inclusive with free foot massages if I’m walking that.
Just trying to imagine carrying a sleeping toddler all the way back to the ship, no thanks. Disney should know better.
It’s 0.48 miles and they have wagons available. I’m sure people walk far further than that in Disney theme parks 🏰
They have wagons you can use
Pier is 1/2 mile long...That is longer then walking end to end across Magic Kingdom. Its like walking from entrance to world showcase around to middle of American Adventure area..
I think this video is going to save a lot of people! Lol.
I believe they built that long pier is because of a coral reef on the outskirts of the Island. They dont want the ship to get stuck nor sustain damage from the coral reef.
Thank you for sharing this. Wow what a long walk.
Walking is great on a cruise so much eating! I never use an elevator either.umbrellas and water is a must walking in high heat!
Was just at Castway, the walk from the boat to the beach is just as long. Yes, it has a tram … but for a non-private island you get what you can get. If the money wasn’t being sucked out of their country they could have purchased another island.
The walk of death. Funeral company has an office there but it was so hot even they died. Forget this torture island. It can only get better, they could give out free icy poles to the prisoners
These vloggers didn’t address it, but another channel pointed out the hundreds of flys covering the food at the buffets. It was DISGUSTING.
Ben and David also agreed about the 20 minute walk without shade!
@@Lkb5555This is a hateful and revolting comment about Ben & David! @TraveSpreeOfficial should ban you!
That slipped through, thank you for bringing it to our attention
That walk would really suck after my 5 margaritas on the beach 😂😂
With my autoimmune disease, the sun and I can have knockdown, drag out fights. That dock walk will be the death of me. I guess I definitely won't be checking this island out!! 🥵🥵🤒
"Great googly moggly, that thang is juicy!" 😂😂
You just gave my hubby a new saying dude! 😂😂
What a gorgeous natural island, can't wait to go!
Hope you have the best time!!
I’d bet the golf carts are for concierge guests. I was lucky enough once to sail concierge and we got golf cart service on Castaway Cay. On my next cruise (not concierge), I had hurt my knee really badly. I asked if disabilities can get golf carts and they said no, they are reserved for concierge only. 😢
Omg not the Atlanta water boys - core memory unlocked
This looks like The Fyre Festival, Disney Edition.😅
💯!!!!!
Yeah I’m NOT digging this compared to Castaway Cay, which I love!
😂😂😂
They have to keep the ship in deep water so it won't run aground, maybe Disney could get a few pontoon boats to shuttle the walking impaired some help.
No. I completely get it. The heat is absolutely just too much sometimes. And I’m a native Floridian, guys. My husband and I went to Bonaire once and I swear we were in hell it was so hot. And ALL of their dining was outside. I couldn’t believe it! We finally found a hidden spot where we sat at this little counter but I didn’t care. Anything for relief.
The headline didn't match the content because you didn't seem like you were having a horrible time.
Castaway Cay, sounds like 'key.' Like, the Florida Keys. 🔑
You might need an umbrella for shade !!!
Love the beach the water is so beautiful.🎉🎉🎉
You're right they need golf carts
Also, you are directly on to the island right off the end of the bridge. Castaway has a long walk once on the island too. So its give and take it seems like.
Sorry I missed the video live. I work 6 days a week at the moment. Training for a new management position, and I have a few more weeks to train. But glad to see you both. Hot here in San Antonio, Texas too, lol
Glad you caught the replay 😊
ngl i was on board with the walk but my feet started to blister real bad on my second walk back, i 100% agree that some tram system would be super helpful especially with how many families disney cruises tend to pull. great video! fun to look back on the “maiden voyage” again haha
That beach looks like a dream come true! I am 52 and never been able to leave MN/WI. I never have extra money. ❤❤❤❤
That beach looks amazing. If all you care about is a great beach, this might be the stop
Do they have plus sized clothes?
This is the first video the algorithm suggested of yours but I subscribed super quick and you two are A-dorable! Congrats on the engagement and here’s to many happy adventures 🎉
Great tour, great shots and great narration as usual! You guys rock! The beach is BRAND NEW. See how they are able to maintain the beach after a hurricane or two. Some of the things that you found to be deficient may be because you all are basically the first large group on the island. Kind of like the inaugural cruise on a new ship. Disney may have rushed some things because they did not want to miss opening in time for this tourist season. Just a thought. Congratulations on your engagement and up coming wedding! You guys are awesome! Thanks for sharing your adventures plus! 😎😎😎
Ya water aside that’s a no for me dawg 😂
Would be much better in the fall/winter!
lol!
It would be better just to go to typhoon lagoon if you ask me
Unless you have a mobility / disability, most adults should be able to walk for 15 min..the way you both described it, was as if it you both had to hike a mountain. Also the food looked hideous. Burgers, hotdogs, cakes..I prefer a virgin experience…more focus on health and well being..this is definitely marketed towards the American clientele..
I'm curious how long the walk was, like a mile or more?
I think it was about .60?
Every person complaining about the walk, are the Exact people that spend 10+ hours in the parks. Sure..there is a 10 min walk to start. But looks like TONS of seating once you are there.
And those that say there is so much more shade in the parks….do you walk around World Showcase or Hollywood Studios?!
Just saying.
Looks like a great place from all the videos I’ve seen!
10+ hours in the parks?! Never in my life, no thank you. I’ll stick to cruising
Are there places to sit if you need to stop and rest for a couple of minutes before you reach the island?
Disney's Imagineers were loaned to BP to help stop the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. I'm sure they can figue out something to improve the dock
The island looks beautiful.
OMG that pier looks a mile long literally. All of those little kids are going to be screaming. What the heck was Disney thinking????? Is this a Chapel leftover. Cheap! Cheap! Cheap!
I go in a couple of months and this walk I am not feeling
It's good info to have thank you.
Our pleasure!
First time watching one of your videos and your products pop up wouldn’t come off the screen so couldn’t see half the video any help to get it off the screen?
I not a beach person so after watching your video I wouldn't get off the ship.
People need to realize this was the first stop for this destination. Kinks will need to be worked out all around. The dock is this long to protect the marine life. Second as said in the video 100 times this is not a private island. It is a Disney destination. Disney is just leasing an area on the island of Eleuthera. I love travel spree but this video is not their average video and no research was put forth before releasing.
The walk way looks big enough for a tram
Is Disney cruise a good fit for young couple like you guys? We did it before when our children were in elementary schools. It’s way too pricy for couples without children.
Still unfortunate what disney had to do to that southern part of the island. Used to walk and sleep on the beach there all the time. Now? Nope. Cant even go to where we used too thanks to disney.
Absolutely beautiful beach tho, so worth the walk. And you are right about the rocks at Grand Turk. Still, spectacular water.
No way! They need seating for resting along the way at the very least. I’m elderly and would not even consider going there!
Same! I'm 68 with arthritis. That whole thing looks exhausting and torturous!
I loved this review.
They need to add shade, but the walk is long because it's really shallow in the approach. They're going to need to make some changes.
Dang...the food quality has gone down 99%. Unbelievable. When we went the food was amazing...
was anyone else trying to shoe the flies off Laura's food through the screen lol.
Ok I need details on that fan!
@@PixieChristy it’s in our Amazon storefront! Link is in the description of this video. Best purchase ever
“ATl water boys”. Haha IYKYK
😂
What size fan do yall have for the cruise ?
I want laura to have a neck fan or the umbrella with a fan and mister. Poor thing I feel her pain!
I was at a Zac Brown/Kenny Chesney concert last week in Philly/ one water bottle at the Lincoln Financial field was $7!!!! I’d probably pay that at end of that boardwalk!!
The beach front on Half Moon Cay is awesome too.
Hopefully soon they will have the trams/carts. This is honestly not surprising for the "inaugural" cruise. They are probably not done finishing it but IDK, that's just my first thought.
It's going to take time to see any sea life for snorkeling, at least 3 years. IMHO
You should get a small hand held fan or even one of those you wear around your neck. Next cruise we go on I'm getting one for my husband.
Wow, that is the clearest water beach I have ever seen....were there is any water life at all?
that walk of a half mile..no ty we are in our 60s big turnoff
This is such a good review. I just can't understand why Disney does this with everything... parks are long walks, no shade too. I would stay on the ship. Seriously! 🤣 I'm on vacation.... not trying to win an Ironman contest. 😂
Half a mile worth of pier 😅 I get the why behind it (preserving the marine life and not dredging a channel for ships), but man... no covering or anything... little kids, the elderly, those with disabilities and skin conditions having to walk all that in the blaring sun is rough
Yeah. It’s great they’re being conscious about that, but they need to offer some shade at the very least
I think you guys were there at the same time as Bryan and Kerry from Views & Queues which is another vlog I watch and their video showed the food had swarms of flies on all of that food. I live vicariously through you guys because none of this looks appealing at all to me lol but I find it interesting to see what these places look like. 😊
Were you there for a preview or was it fully open?
Preview
Do you think you can speak with the concierge about trams to the island?
I plan to jump in the pool with my pool clothes on before crossing the Sahara. haha
Having been to RC’s island, where I don’t recall having to pass through security to enter - what’s the purpose of going through security to enter Lighthouse Cay?
It's not an island, but part of a larger island.
It's almost like they set things up to fill your day with walking so they can save on the entertainment! I've never owned a car, been a walker my whole life and that walk they set up offended even me!! 😭
That walk would be a killer for me, I have just 1 lung I need to stop after about, 5 minutes walking, no thank you
They need trams, shade and benches. You not the first to complain about this. Ben and Dave said it took them almost 22 minutes to walk that but they did stop to take video. And the flies on the food are absolutely disgusting, but no flies in your video. Beaches look amazing.
While editing I saw If you look close enough, you can see the flies buzzing around when we have our food. They were pretty aggressive
The walk isn’t that bad. It’s literally a 1/2 a mile. People are making it out to be way worse than it is - or are just horribly out of shape. There were golf carts available for those with mobility issues. We loved it - don’t believe everything you hear from any vlogger.
Or any random comment on the internet 😉
No shade, no tram...that's horrible for Disney For all the money you pay on a Disney Cruise, that design is awful!
That looks like it would be a long walk for kids. I could definitely handle it, but my little ones, not so much. The golf carts should be available to everyone.
A tram would be more practical than golf carts. If going with someone in an electric wheelchair and then you have mobility issues…. do you tell them you will meet them there since a wheelchair wouldn’t fit on a golf cart? And a family with multiple children who possibly have to be carried? Thats a long walk hauling a toddler or with a situation where you have mobility impaired parents or even kids? a golf cart won’t necessarily accommodate a full family so not a great option either. So while it’s not horrible for the average person, it’s definitely something Disney needs to think through from a practicality standpoint.
The bridge is definitely a great alternative than needing to tender in. But that is a big walk with no shade compared to most ports.
Their complaints are valid. Watch Bright Sun Travel’s video review on this park. It’s a shadow of its sister park Castaway Cay because of all the corporate budget shaving to save money/profits. The original vision for the park by the Imagineers is miles away from what was actually built and there we’re supposed to be trams for all who wanted them on the dock, just like at Castaway. But God forbid that would’ve cost money and ran afoul of Disney’s new less for more 💰business model. To a Disney cruise newby, this might seem normal but seasoned cruisers know what they’re NOT getting.
Glad these two didn’t have to deal with the swarming fly infestation while they ate. I guess that problem was fixed.
Good grief....its walking. Master it.
Love it, marry it. Kristen you are truly my idol
Why too much walking...I couldn't handle that😅
How. How could they build shade there.
That dock is excessive 😮.
Disney seriously does not care about shade. They provide scant shade in the parks, so this is not news.
Ask Disney what the port fee/tax is for this. You will be shocked.
And that is why you don’t go on one of the first sailings. Always wait 3 months
Great video. Thank you!
Eleuthera is not a private island. It is 110 miles long. The area you are at is private due to Disney’s purchase.
Love yall and thank you as always for letting me tag along. 💙🙌💙
Can’t wait to see this island btw you resemble lady Penelope featherington 😊❤ she’s flawless 🔥
