Installed almost exactly this system in my car. R2 components up front and S2 coax in the rear with a single sub (dual 4 ohm coils). The amp is good for what I needed. I’m using all 8 channels. The DSP and AutoEQ is a game changer. A 5 minute tune had the system sounding very similar to a B&O system. I will never upgrade speakers without a DSP again.
Sold !!!! I was about to get a Hertz or Steg and maybe the Audio Control - 608. But I have been an Alpine fan since early 90s. Think this is what I want . That auto tune is 🔥🔥🔥. Plus Alpine doesn’t break !!! EVER
I'd be much more impressed if it made rated power at less than 1% thd. The fuse rating is a dead give away but we've also tested the outputs with dummyload resisters and it doesn't come close to rated Maxed out channels 7 and 8 at 260w
I’m stuck with my factory 2015 Lexus es350 and it just sounds off no matter what I do. Also the bass sounds muddy and boomy even with a sealed box with two 10” infinity subs. I’m running an Audio Control L7ci and although it’s great I am 46 and I’m not in a bass competition I want pure SQ .
Can you patch this in using a complete factory system including stock speakers? Can it be tuned to cut off volume to when the speakers start to distort? Are there adjustable gains or does it just do that automatically?

Can you do full pass on the amp channels #7 and #8 ( subwoofer channels) ? And can it do DSP on those channels as well as the rca outputs at the same time ?
Ive been doing alot of research and called alpine techs twice, the consensus is no. for me, im going to be running a mono rear fill off 1 ch, and my 2 subs mono off one ch. Apparently thats the only (best) workaround
I just bought one, but I have some questions. 1) The power specs say: 50W x 6 @ 4Ω + 150W x 2 @ 4Ω or 50W x 6 @ 2Ω + 300W x 2 @ 2Ω Can it do: 50W x 6 @ 4Ω + 300W x 2 @ 2Ω? 2) Can you bridge Channels 7 and 8? If so - what impedance can they drive? Example - Can it do: 50W x 6 @ 4Ω + 600W x 1 @ 2Ω?
Question #1, answer is yes. Question #2, the channels are not bridgeable. if you run a dual 2 ohm voice coil sub you can run channel 7 and 8 to it and get 300 watts per coil (600 watts total to the sub). I've heard this on an R-Series 12" and a R-Shallow 10". It was very impressive. Hope this helps.

Does the IPHONE app allow for Anti EQ ? Unfortunately I do not have a laptop and had to run in my workshop for Chanel assignment. Plan was to use phone for rest...
I have one on order, but I'm wondering if the Pre-outs are tied to the powered speaker channels? So if I'm using the 150wx2 on ch 7-8 for midbass then will the 7-8 RCA outs receive the same midbass crossover/EQ settings or can they be independently assigned and controlled (for an external sub amp for example)?
Yes the outputs are configured the same. If you want to run the 150 channels to midbass and want to run an external sub amp you would need to use other RCA output for that example channel 5&6 RCA out to sub amp.
If you configure the channels to be live, the amp and RCA's are active on those channels. You don't switch between RCA and powered output as they have the same configuration and if they are set on then they are on. Hope this helps.
I'm using OEM HU on my new WRX (11 inch). What's the best way to get high-res audio to the amp? Can I connect a portable music player by USB to the amp's USB port and it will work?
I have a question, I bought two sets of speakers, Alpine Status 3 way for my front doors and a pair of coaxial status for the rear doors, those speakers are rated at 100 watts RMS, ¿Will this DSP amp be enough to give enough power to each speaker?
Are you going to run a sub? You could run your speakers active (a channel per speaker) and you would have enough power but you would run out of channels if you run a sub. I would suggest with the level of components you have, running the Status DSP amp. It has plenty of channels to run your speakers fully active and have an output for subs. While the Status DSP doesn't do Auto Sound Setup it is very flexible and has the Signal to Noise ratio and dynamic range to work well with your Status speakers. I hope this helps.
Can the 8 RCA outputs have independent DSP control in conjunction with the amplified speaker outputs? Example: 8 - DSP AMP Speaker outputs for Front left and right mid-bass, mid-range, tweeter, and Rear left and right tweeter. ( 8 SPEAKERS) 8 - DSP RCA Out - Amp #1 Rear left and right mid-bass, mid-range + Amp #2 Subwoofer amp. ( 5 RCA out to external amps) 11 Total DSP Channels - with no external crossovers. Fully Active system.
It's 8 total channels of DSP. The 8 powered channels mirror the 8 RCA channels. You can use both RCA and power output but they will have the same configuration for both. Hope that helps.
I apologize if this is a dumb question but this is my first DSP, will the auto tune set the gains for the speakers and Sub or we gotta input that manually..?
Hi, I was wondering if Alpine will also be releasing an app for Android users. Can I still tune it even if I don't have an iphone? Should I have the place that does the install tune it instead?
As of right now, this works with PC app or iPhone only. Android has additional complications to make this work correctly but we are still looking into ways to offer on Android devices in the future. IN the meantime the PC app with a mic kit will work great too!
If you have a R-A60F installed, would this replace it? Can both items be used together? Would it be best to use the R-A60F, with a non amplified Optim 8 when available?
The Optim8 is flexible enough to basically fit into most system configurations so you could completely replace your amp or use it in conjunction with what you already have, just kind of depends on your setup.
You can use the OPTIM8 RCA outputs to run into your R-A60F. That would give you more power of output per channel and you can still take advantage of the Auto Tune feature and have additional channels of amplification available in the OPTIM8 if you needed it. Keep in mind the RCA and amplified outputs on the OPTIM8 are mirrored not independent. Hope tis helps.
How do you retain android auto and send the signal to the dsp Bluetooth it looses alot of potential on the oem head unit . My phone says both are connected but it never plays
Don’t hold your breath for an answer from alpine. I’ve asked several questions pertaining to the operation of the unit and have yet to hear a response. No support means it’s getting returned.
