What I was looking for Alpine to bring out to the market was a 3" or 3.5" point source/concentric driver that could be paired with one of the status midbass drivers.

I would really like Alpine to try and get into the market of High performance Subwoofers and Mono Amplifiers. I own 2 X-A90M amps as well as 2x X-12WD4 and I love them sooooo much. Bass is clean and accurate and the subwoofers dont hold back as well as the amps. But I do wish Alpine would target above the 1000W threshold for there upcoming amplifiers. The X series subs and amps are great but I think it's time to turn up the dial to 11 and see some really high spec amplifiers and subwoofers that can go against the other big boys like sundown.
Hello. My car's factory head unit does not acknowledge a hi-res signal, so I'd need to install the HDS-990. But I still (want to) use Android Auto. My question is...if I connect my phone (which contains my music) to the HDS-990, will I still be able to connect to Android Auto via a wireless connection? Also, the music streaming apps I use are in my Android Auto menu. Will they play via Bluetooth Audio in conjunction with the HDS-990? Thanks in advance...

I wish that Alpine would have made a 6-channel Type-X amplifier, because the 4-channel and 5-channel Type-X amplifiers are a significant upgrade compared to the R-series multichannel amps. The Type-X amps were just discontinued, so If you can find a good deal on a pair of new or used *X-A70F* 4-channel Type-X amps, jump on it. Use one bridged down to 2 channels on the 6.5" midwoofers, and the other amp for the midrange and tweeters. ;)
Why not make a processor that will take streaming from Apple CarPlay/Android Auto from suppress to high res. This would make sense for those who want to hear to great sound and not have 3 to 4 devices switching back and forth. However, thank you for the video and explanation all this.
Any update to the software or firmware? The last time I was home, I was trying to tune the dsp, but sometimes random channels wouldn't mute, the crossover point wouldn't apply on the bridged channels unless I clicked the bridge box off and back on, and it didn't seem like any sliders effected the equalization at all. (Using the Audiofrog mic and REW. Tried the rta built into the Alpine software too)
@AlpineTV Eric, I have a honest question: I'm very curious why the *Alpine Type-X* 6.5" and 6"x9" component midwoofers (which are a step below these new *STATUS* components) use smaller, more powerful, and more expensive Neodymium Magnets, and in a smaller form-factor basket that accommodates easier fitment in a wider variety of vehicles, while these new *STATUS* components use Larger, Cheaper common Ferrite Magnets, and also have much larger baskets which can be more difficult to fit and mount in a lot of OEM speaker locations??? This seems somewhat @ss-backwards to me considering these are the new "STATUS" series component drivers. A few other questions: Do any or all of these new STATUS component drivers use any type of Farraday Rings or "Shorting Rings" in the motor to reduce inductance and lower distortion? I know that Alpine uses FEA and Klippel Analyzer measurements when developing these high end speaker products. Will you or Alpine share that data with us for these new STATUS drivers? Or at least the full T/S parameters for each driver? Or is all or some of this information already available in the Owner's Manual/Tech Data Sheets for these products? Thank you.
Hello, There are a lot of features to discuss in these speakers. Using this magnet structure in the Status speakers we are able to get great motor control. While the magnet is larger the overall design actually decreases the mounting depth considerably and the diameter of the magnet should not be an issue when installing into most factory locations (from our research). There are many significant upgrades over X-Series: things like - integrated "Phase Plugs", upgraded cone materials and superb tooling and cosmetics that trickle down from F#1 Status speakers. Yes these do utilize "shorting rings" and also use a technology called DD Linear. Does Alpine work with any major OEM for their stereo/infotainment systems? If no, then why not? If yes, then who and on what car(s)? I ran a single-DIN Alpine CD HU back in the 90s in my Mazda 323 in order to run amps/separates/sub. Ahhh, the 90s, a great decade for car audio.
Alpine needs to make the HDS-7909 status head unit a standalone head unit! Looks awesome, but not everyone wants or needs that brain box to go along with it
From what I understand reading the manual, I think they are rated at 100w RMS as a passive system (the crossover distributes and filters the power/frequencies from one channel to the 2-way or 3-way set), but when wired in an active setup (1 ch per each speaker), the 50w RMS should be enough and you would set the crossover frequencies manually in the DSP.
@@TheNormalguy77 yeah but they should give us the actual RMS rating of each component I personally use the ohm low to set my gain and I use the speaker info and not the amp since I always like to leave some headroom on the amp so if I do not have the rating and the impedance of the speaker how am I supposed to set up my gain to get the best maximum performance out of the speaker? This is my struggle with many high end speaker companies
I love the new status speaker lineup, question though, will there be a 6x9 midbass driver coming since most US cars tend to have 6x9 drivers in their doors? Also, I know that over seas there is a type x 7x10 component set, will that size be offered there as well? And lastly, what is the usable frequency range for that 2" driver?

@Tony DeCarlo If you want a DAP that has a Toslink or Coaxial digital output to connect to the HDP-D90, the DAP's internal DAC and headphone amplifier do not matter because it will be bypassed (unless you want the DAP for portable headphone or IEM listening, too). So choose a DAP with the best Touchscreen, GUI, and the features that you want, as long as it has a coaxial or Toslink optical output. But to be fair, Michael Meyers, who is an IASCA and MECA car audio SQ competitor, has won several 1st place SQ trophies in his Subaru Forester system that uses an older *iBasso DX-160* DAP connected via its 3.5mm ANALOG line output/headphone output to the Analog RCA inputs of an *ARC Audio PS8-PRO* DSP, and then to ZAPCO amplifiers.

In addition, these people might also already have perfectly good amplifiers and a head unit from their current or previous install that they want to repurpose and use with these new Status speakers. These Status component speaker sets aren't exactly cheap, but the Status DSP/Amp is even more expensive, and the price is "a hard pill to swallow" for many. Lots of people will be happy just being able to brag that they have the Alpine "STATUS" speakers. And "trust me", LOL, they still sound excellent with just the passive crossover networks. ;)

I drove 288 miles to another dealer to research for my upcoming build. Like the first dealer I spoke with was introduced to memphis/ JLAuidio. I need yor help and compare jl to alpine. Or someone that will sell me all alpine. This is not my first post on social asking questions. But each video I learn a little more.
I personally like AudioControl DSP Amps and Audiofrog B series speakers (installed in my Accord)! I also love Morel Hybrid speakers with AudioControl DSP amps (installed in my Bronco Badlands)! JL Audio’s amps and subs are phenomenal their speakers won’t disappoint but they won’t “Wow” you either! Alpine speakers (X or HDZ Series) offer great quality at a reasonable price. Alpine power amps are solid however their DSP amps have never really impressed me (lack of power)! Memphis Audio subs and mono amps are great but their speaker line is so-so. Just my 2 cents after comparing many systems for builds in my vehicles,not to mention my siblings, wife, kids, friends and associates needing advice on their audio builds (i used to select, install and calibrate custom, high-end, home audio projects for our clients. Car audio gear is somewhat new to me and i am not an expert in that area)!
It would be REALLY nice for a device like this with the black box type product to be able to connect to devices via WiFi so we can use airplay2 in order to play lossless audio or hi-res audio wirelessly. Stamp the made for apple products stamp on it if you want, but your missing the mark here in 2023 for wireless hi-res. Remember Airplay connectivity not apple carplay which is a completely different less important animal. Since I want to this product or something like it ill have to convert my audio signal to airplay and connect it to my radio via optilink/toslink which seems like alot of extra steps. Take note from Garmin with their fusion Apollo RA770 it does what im wanting for half the price you are offering the only difference here is how I would wire it to my dsp and this product came out in 2020. I would really like to see Airplay connectivity as well as an app for the status lineup in 2023 before I make my switch to alpine. Other than that seems like a flawless introduction to a niche market just missed the mark on connectivity functuonality. Let's see what the future holds for alpine
Seriously how am I supposed to hook them up in an active system when you don’t provide us with each component RMS and ohm’s ratings!!! All the videos and tutorials on the internet says that to mach an amp to a speaker the amp should be equal to speaker RMS and some even say to give the amp some headroom by multiplying the RMS of the speaker by 1.2 so find the RMS output of the amp for each channel!!! So when I see a speaker so well made and without these informations it really pains me because I get lost and don’t know what amp to choose to get the safest yet max output of each driver!!! So please if you can share these information it would be amazing!

Would like it much better if the HDS-990 Controller was full DIN width. I know Alpine had to make it look much cheaper than the F#1 system but really??? That was a terrible decission.

I have a Subaru BRZ I like that it is a 3 way in the front but the speakers aren’t that great I’ve been a fan of Alpine for decades 80’s what would fit my cars 3 way
i would replace my single din head unit in my car with this Alpine HDS-990 Status. what stop me is the fact that it doesn' have am/fm radio. i still listen to the radio. i don't want two head units in my car. this where Alpine HDS-990 Status fall short. im an alpine person since the 80's, but this is a bit of a disappointment. im sure this head unit sound good.
No light to creat interference hahaha I've heard it all now 🤣🤣 skip to the speakers, I saw the demo on five star car audio and was like what a load of snake oil like 50k$ speaker cables the speaker plugs on that amp are so awkward 🤮
@Captain America I own and use several of the Audiotec-Fischer Helix and Brax DSP and speaker products, including the Helix DSP ULTRA. And I agree that the Helix DSP products are excellent. I also use the Gladen/Mosconi 8TO12 Aerospace DSP, and the miniDSP C-DSP 8x12 with DIRAC Live, and they are also excellent products that produce amazing SQ when set up and tuned properly. HOWEVER, to be fair, have YOU actually installed and tuned one of these new Alpine STATUS DSP/amplifiers in an ultra high-end system and compared it directly to the Helix V EIGHT or V TWELVE in order to qualify your "best" statement???
But a Kia or a Hyundai owner will tell you how great their Best Buy Installed Boss “system” is and how “overpriced” everything else is. You know.. they don’t have skills other than retail.
Boss is good!.. for its price, at least it was a few years ago idk what else budgos out there now, but people without constant stimulation crave extreme stimulation, then mellow to nirmalized stimulation with a xraving of quality, think about how often oeople go from the spl cheap drivers and love them then slowly transition to more high quality,whole home ect. And then when its everywhere needed and the volume over noise is corrected for you end up having run the whole loop and have become the quality over quantity but the patterned loop is always poorly explained or recognised
That "media controller" is one of the dumbest things I've seen Alpine produce in a long long while. Cut the display down to 3/4 of the DIN width... then further restrict the display to less than half of that... then have the balls to charge $1400 for it.

Those tweeters are sweet and sound great. Alpine needs to release those as a standalone add on.
For the speaker i recomend buy as pair (tweet, mid, sub), so you will have identical “colour” sound

I just upgraded my factory speakers to alpine 300w 6x9 150w 6inch and im going to say the sound is only slightly better .

They both use the S/PDIF digital format via a Toslink style optical cable, so I don't see any reason why they would not be compatible.
Those speakers look really fancy! I wonder how do they sound when compared to a set of Boston Pro 6.53 or A/D/S 320i? Yes I'm old school.

So when I see a speaker so well made and without these informations it really pains me because I get lost and don’t know what amp to choose to get the safest yet max output of each driver!!!

@@AlpineTV i just checked there is only 1 RMS rating “100w RMS” that’s the only information provided on the website and that information is for the 3 speakers I’m looking for the rating of each speaker individually (midbass RMS/ midrage RMS/ and tweeters RMS) 😢

Would like it much better if the HDS-990 Controller was full DIN width. I know Alpine had to make it look much cheaper than the F#1 system but really??? That was a terrible decission.
COST is one collar bone & at least three toes or the option of three fingers are allowed😢; I understand monthly payments are still optional one digit every three months until payment received in FULL 😂

I have a Subaru BRZ I like that it is a 3 way in the front but the speakers aren’t that great I’ve been a fan of Alpine for decades 80’s what would fit my cars 3 way

i would replace my single din head unit in my car with this Alpine HDS-990 Status. what stop me is the fact that it doesn' have am/fm radio. i still listen to the radio. i don't want two head units in my car. this where Alpine HDS-990 Status fall short. im an alpine person since the 80's, but this is a bit of a disappointment. im sure this head unit sound good.
A lot of music isn't even rendered that high in a studio. Most stuff super high is film
New amazing hardware that's super high quality...but uses the same buttons they've used for decades.
No light to creat interference hahaha I've heard it all now 🤣🤣 skip to the speakers, I saw the demo on five star car audio and was like what a load of snake oil like 50k$ speaker cables the speaker plugs on that amp are so awkward 🤮
Helix V8,V12 best dsp hands Down .There are way better DSPs on the market for the Price point and Quality you receive.

I own and use several of the Audiotec-Fischer Helix and Brax DSP and speaker products, including the Helix DSP ULTRA.
And I agree that the Helix DSP products are excellent. I also use the Gladen/Mosconi 8TO12 Aerospace DSP, and the miniDSP C-DSP 8x12 with DIRAC Live, and they are also excellent products that produce amazing SQ when set up and tuned properly.
HOWEVER, to be fair, have YOU actually installed and tuned one of these new Alpine STATUS DSP/amplifiers in an ultra high-end system and compared it directly to the Helix V EIGHT or V TWELVE in order to qualify your "best" statement???
Alpine Status rolls off the tongue nicely .
However, “Alpine F#1 Status” is a terrible name.
But a Kia or a Hyundai owner will tell you how great their Best Buy Installed Boss “system” is and how “overpriced” everything else is. You know.. they don’t have skills other than retail.
Boss is good!.. for its price, at least it was a few years ago idk what else budgos out there now, but people without constant stimulation crave extreme stimulation, then mellow to nirmalized stimulation with a xraving of quality, think about how often oeople go from the spl cheap drivers and love them then slowly transition to more high quality,whole home ect. And then when its everywhere needed and the volume over noise is corrected for you end up having run the whole loop and have become the quality over quantity but the patterned loop is always poorly explained or recognised
That "media controller" is one of the dumbest things I've seen Alpine produce in a long long while. Cut the display down to 3/4 of the DIN width... then further restrict the display to less than half of that... then have the balls to charge $1400 for it.
Common Alpine, time to ditch these stupid ass blue buttons. This isn’t 1995 anymore 🤦♂️.
