one difference between this robot and human movement seems to be that it relies on motors in the joints for movement. this is not the same as the passive dynamic system that our muscles use to move us around, and is not very efficient in terms of energy. now that they have the skeletal framework down, researchers should focus on creating a form of movement that is rooted in a central control unit, that pulls the muscles without wasting energy, rather than using motors in the joints

James Cameron and Stan Winston (R.I.P.) had the the same basic idea with their infamous Terminator T-800 Endoskeleton back in the early 80's. Later in the mid 90's they had it remote controlled from hip to head. (Also with moving shoulderblades)

Ithere is a company that is making something similar to that, using pneumatic muscles. They function with compressed air to contract the muscle. There are videos of robotic fish and other machines that use them on youtube.

The Pump that set the hydraulics (on the Endo) under pressure where prety huge. Also because it's a filmprop that dosen't move as whole wich means there is no sense in building a minatur power unit (into it)

    1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
    2. A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
    3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
    :)

they should've used brushless dc motors instead of brushed motors because this robot could be used for very long periods of time and bldc motors tend to run faster and have a torqueyer nature and it has higher precision and acuracy. Brushed motors last 600 hours before having to replace the carbon brushes or the motor itself if the brushes are non removable. brushless dc motors last 32000 hours before having to repack the bearings.
