These videos are better than a written biography. We get to sit in while Delaney gets Jimmy to tell the stories behind the music we love so well. Makes me happy sad
We all are. It still surprises me how many other folks loved him like I did. I don't know why it's a surprise, but it is. I think many of us feel like he sings just for us. And that's okay. 🩴
These interviews are ( as others have said) an absolute treasure. Jimmy’s stories and brilliant memories are incredibly deep, joyful, and moving. Thanks so much Delaney ❤ and of course Jimmy.
Like so many others, my thoughts and prayers go to the Buffett family. We fans are heartbroken so I can’t imagine what the family is going through. “Songs You Don’t By Heart” was genius!!! As are most things Jimmy and company came up with. He may be gone but his music will live on forevermore. And thanks to Delaney for asking your Dad the questions and getting him to tell the stories behind the songs. Amazing stuff!!!!! RIP Jimmy, Fins Up!
I have had to go back and watch these again during the last month. Many many thanks to Delaney for doing this series with your dad. It’s fantastic to have this living history of your dad and your family!!!
For Forty years Jimmy was like a cousin that you knew you were going to see by the end of the summer at Jones Beach, or in the winter I'd catch a show in Florida. Special concerts or fundraisers that he joined in were always a bonus. Now to hear him reminiscing about his life and songs to Delaney it's a priceless gift. He always kept his family life private, except for a few times when the girls would join him on stage. Losing Jimmy has hit me as hard as losing a family member or close friend. We will not get to see him this summer, his concerts were always a family event, and after the loss of my parents, it felt like a way to still honor our tradition and be close to them. Thank you Delaney for these Videos that share more of your Dad with us. We share in your family's grief, loss and heartbreak.💔🌴🦈
We just lost Jimmy Buffett days ago! What a loss. These videos are precious! Jimmy recognized that we live in a diverse country and Key West really magnified that. It is something we need to protect. Love the story about Steve Goodman and John Prine taking Jimmy under their wing in Chi-Town. Thank you, Delaney, for the great looks into Jimmy Buffett's life of songwriting. Burlington Bill busking on the road and here on you-tube.
Thanks for all the great music. Started being a fan after seeing him in concert at William and Mary in VA, then after moving to the Keys I saw in in Key West but also several times at the Holiday Inn in Marathon. Lived at Key Colony and loved it when he stopped at the Inn and played. After living Key Colony his songs could put me back to those happy days. Thank you Jimmy.
I didn’t know Jimmy & Steve Goodman were acquainted but it would figure that the paths of two such amazing songwriters would cross. Steve & John Prine were already in my vinyl when Jimmy's music was in the slot, around 1974. As good a storyteller as Steve Goodman was (and he truly was, as was John), Jimmy's stories are right up there too. I'm sifting through these videos you created with your dad, Delaney, and my heart aches knowing all three are gone. I thank heaven that their music populates my collection, so the memories are kept alive and I can reach back and pull one up any old time. Its tough knowing what your Dad was facing in the years before he passed. The rigors of treatment aren't for the weak, so it's great to see Jimmy looking fit & healthy despite it all. I'm not longer a spring chicken. No longer a concert goer. So I'm happy that my misspent youth was filled with nights (very occasional afternoons) & music from guys like Jimmy, John & Steve. Fair winds & following seas. (ps: when the Cubbies finally won the pennant after a 108 year drought, it’s great knowing that Jimmy's heart was lifted as Steve's was. ⚾️)
Great thoughts. Give a listen to David Alan Coe song " You Never Call Me By My Name" there is a surprise in it that I just learned watching this video.
Love this! Makes me happy & sad like so many. Delaney does a great job getting her Dad to tell the stories. I could listen to Jimmy tell stories forever. You're missed so much by so many of us, Jimmy!❤
Columbus, Ohio, 1980, Hot Dog and a Road Map tour. My beautiful wife and I had seats in the front row, and wormed our way backstage after the show, saying we had a little gift for Jimmy - a nice chunk of pure Peruvian flake. We all snuck off to the men's room to do a line or three, talking about our brand-new babies. After about five minutes or so of snorting lines and tellin' lies, I got a T-shirt signed by Jimmy and Fingers, just to prove I made it backstage. All my friends were jealous. It was a lotta fun and a memory that even Alzheimer's won't erase. And btw, Jimmy, there isn't a song of yours that my wife and I don't know by heart! Thanks for all the music and memories!
This acoustic version makes me feel as if I'm in the Chart Room audience listening. Thank you Jimmy for sharing, thank you Delaney for the interesting prelude. Fun stuff!
Next to Pirate, this is my favorite song of Jimmy’s, and that is saying something (also from my favorite album of his). I can’t think of another celebrity that I will miss as much or that will have me as upset as I have been over losing Jimmy Buffett. Yet I am so grateful to have had his music with me during the best moments and the worst moments of my life. ❤ Thank you, Jimmy. #ParrotheadForever
Thank you for getting your daddy to do all these! I was inaugurated in ‘94 and he will always be on the playlist! Wino and I know is my 10yr olds little girls favorite song. Different reasons I’m sure but always fun.
I love Jimmy’s stories just as much as his music. Thank you for sharing this ❤️. Love and prayers go out to all of Jimmy’s family and his “work” family ❤️😘🙏🏻!!
There is a Caroline street in Saratoga Springs New york. I often ride my bicycle on it when I am there. This song is always going through my mind when I'm there
Love the song!!! That's a Very interesting Gibson you're playing there. The headstock is shaped kinda different, no neck markers or binding. I can tell its very old though, I'm guessing from the 30's maybe, but idk. With the script Logo and stuff it really is Very interesting Sir.
Oh lord I went down my first trip in a truck full of rodeo Cowboys and we seen a tall red head the driver pulled up beside him and we seen the Adam’s apple 🍏 😂 Welcome to Key West a story we still laugh about 25 years ago
I have ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST in moving any further south in this country of conflict than where I am. But if I must, Key West sounds an oasis amongst the retirees and the college kids prowling the state.
Jimmy are you a cool guy in person? Just curious, I'm going on 50 and still trying to find my knack in life, Salty Piece of Land helped, but I'm stuck at a steel mill in Gary Lake Michigan
@@ledaswan5990 It seemed that way. There's not many high profile people that have that kind of a personal connection with their fans and not only that, he made his fans " FAMILY "!!!

Why is it so hard to come back home to Mississippi and when will you mention that you were from Petal, Mississippi and you were a friend of my brothers and played football together ? I have the same problem with coming back home to Mississippi and I can’t ever get away without losing so much money just trying to help the people who I used to know as a kid and I know that I can’t get them out of my life because my family are buried there and I always go back literally to make sure that the place is safe and I own it now and I
The same thing happened to a friend in New Orleans. A big handsome guy decided he needed to approach this Trans and left with her. In just about 5 minutes he came running back into the bar and everyone asked him what happened. He told us it really was a he! 🤣😅😂

@LizKerley yes. He had a whole world of friends, said by mac! Gosh this is hard
Still hard all this time later
I may have commented a few years ago, but now I see why you were documenting your dad. "Thank you Ms Delanay!"
These are "Songs You Know by Heart". 💜
Rip Jimmy Buffett. Thanks for the memories. I'm still crying
I'm with you that I still cry listen to his music and think about him .
I'm still crying almost five months later.
I’m still crying. I think we will all miss him deeply, every day.
Me too😢
Every single day he is missed!😢
Imagine Jimmy, Steve, and John together again. That is heaven.
You think they are there because you liked them ? Theirs only one way to Heaven , don’t matter who you are .
