Niiiice! ICON seems like a great book, I might need to pick that one up. But yeah Death Dealer and Silver Warrior are classic badass pieces...though i think i'm in love with the "Cat Girl" piece as well. The lighting feels so perfect to me . It be a dream come true to see them in person at the museum in Pennsylvania.
wow, which book is this? i'd be curious to see what you mean and for what painting. Its interesting to see what the artist decided to change and why. let me know! 😀😅
@@brianzuleta4282 The Fantastic Art of Frank Frazetta published by Bantam Books. I believe the first one was in the mid to late 70s. I have five of them. I don't know if they put more volumns than that. They would put out a calendar every year as well. Vanguard Press reprinted the first book. I don't know if they did anymore. I know the painting Moon Maid was completely redone. The original colors were gray and pink and it was changed to blue and yellow/orange. The figure of Conan in one of thise paintings was completely changed. You can also see the originals on the books they were used as covers for. I can't say they were painted specifically for some books because publishers eventually started finding books to fit the his paintings since books with Frazetta covers sold really well.
@richardb6260 Wow, thats amazing, I've heard about this book. Ironically this is the one I really want haha. Looking at both now, I personaly like the original moon maid painting much more! its soo dynamic, their hair looks cool haha. What you're personal fav btw? Thanks for sharing! 😀
@@alchemicalfire I've always liked the Conan painting where he's fighting an ape that looks like it's wearing a red cape. BTW, the painting where the Conan figure was completely changed was for the Conan the Buccaneer book. I also like his covers for the Kane books. One of them was used for a Molly Hatchet album cover.
@@richardb6260 ooo nice, yeah that red cape one is pretty awesome! I rememeber watching some documentary where they mention that Frank once tried to put togeather all the best elements of various paintings into one painting. The painting they used for the cover of "Conan the Buccaneer" specifically conan's pose was used for this piece but apparently it didnt work out too well in the end. It does sound like you're very knowledgeable about Frazetta though, are you a collector, atist, perhaps just a super fan hehe?
Thanks enjoyed this review. Like to have a Frazetta on wall but never can decide which one. Enjoyed the conversation at the end with Dave but don't understand all the angst. You handed it well didn't take the bait and allowed your self to discover someone new.
Thanks Donald!😁 I have the "Sacrifice" print on the wall! one of my favorite pieces of his. Also the book: "Fantastic Paintings of Frazetta" is another amazing one to own. Maybe I'll get that one as well since it barely has any words in it lol. Just the art please! As for Dave, it's likely he's had to deal with some annoying internet trolls in the past so I don't blame him too much lol, but I do enjoy a good genuine conversation if one is willing, regardless of the initial stance on things. Also, I'll be making more videos as well so stop on by if you like all things art and other weird stuff. Thanks again for the response though!
@@fredrickpelachio Fortunatley, Im confident with the artists I personally enjoy. It's a shame when we arent true to ourselves or can't admit to our personal tastes regardless of public perception. I proudly boast my crush on Frazettas work lol
I always get lost in the background although the focus point is awsome my mind often drift there. That means the crested world of the artist is very interesting.
you have the mind of a dreamer! But to be honest, i dont think anyone can look at his work and not get lost in the beauty hehe. Do you have a favorite piece of his?
Great video! My favorite pieces by Frank are Silver Warrior, and Death Dealer. I have the same book, as well as, ICON.

@@alchemicalfire Oh yeah, Cat Girl is a great piece, too.
I have the softcover books from the 70s and 80s. A lot of them have the original versions of paintings that Frazetta changed later.

shame you let Dave get to you. Fraztta may not be the best, or "old school" any more as he says but you can still have your crush on him lol
