This is great - it escaped me to think of an emergency descent as a discrete maneuver on its own. Regarding the pet peeve - I think getting the word simulated into the transmission will keep anyone listening from mistaking there is an actual emergency. I am not a CFI of course, but in this case it seems particular beyond pragmatic to insist on people half listening to discern that finer point. Great work as always man!
Thanks Brian! Yeah it seems I’m fairly alone with my pet peeve lol. In our particular practice area it is a very common thing to hear and always phrased in the context of practicing a maneuver as you heard here. So I have yet to have anyone accidentally mistake me for an emergency aircraft…. Or maybe they know it’s me and just don’t care? 😂🤷🏻♂️😂
Great stuff as always Sam. I was just talking to a student about this. Would love to see / hear your thoughts on dirty vs clean config in a cessna - when & why to do one dirty. In my personal airplane the POH calls for dirty & 45⁰ bank for max rate of descent but the cessna POHs I've seen don't explicitly suggest or advise against flaps.

That’s exactly how my CSEL checkride went.
So glad I found your channel! I'm getting ready for my CFI check in a few days and I'm traveling so these videos are great continued review. Thanks!
Glad to hear it and let me know how the check ride goes! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Nice explanation ❤
Where the dirty configuration?
Didn’t get to demo it this flight but it’s the same exact technique except you have fill flaps and only pitch to the top of the white arc 👍
