Thank you for this wonderful tutorial, I have been doing this as well and also tried it with different spices which worked out , made some for diabetic patients using honey. But i get a challenge when it reaches 1year the red color feds out a little , the taste also changes(Local brew taste) and the clear look of it changes as well. What advice could you give to keep it preserved in it's original state. Thank you.
I just made a few months ago Hibiscus mead. Honey for sugar plus hibiscus ,cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and coriander I think. I forget. OMG It's far too good. Takes ages, 4 months at least to ferment and start to clear. It's fabulous.
I noticed that hibiskus wine is beneficial for constipation. this wine runs the bowels.but hibiscus tea does not have such an effect. maybe I could be wrong.you can just notice it by trying.I boil hibiscus with sugar for 15, 20 minutes on low heat. This mixture, which I have prepared for 24 hours, is waiting.then I strain the mixture and ferment it for fermentation. After about 1 month, the fermentation is completed.
Mam I have a question The process of making wine that you are showing over here is really very simple and wonderfull...bt my question is that after making the wines.... for how many days I can preserve it take it as a drink ? And after making the wine can I keep it in fridge ?
It’s a yeast starter Cindy. It does a few things, firstly it’s used to make sure the yeast is still active (seen by production of bubbles) and secondly is allows the yeast to multiply before being added to “kick start” the fermentation. Hope this helps!
May I ask how much yeast do you add to the liquid part? And when you added the yeast mixture in, could you use tab water? Does it mean no need to absolutely do anything within the 7 days except wait?
1 tsp for 3 liters would be ok; you may want to boil your tap water to get rid of microbes, chlorine and other nasty stuff. And finally, I believe all she did was to wait. I would not drink that unless rested for at least 3 weeks total in order to get a sediment.
Add more sugar and let it sit a few weeks. I make strong wine in about 45 days. All I use is pure juice, sugar and yeast. I also leave the cap so it can breathe otherwise it will explode.
You shouldn't just put a lid on and wait for 7 days because the CO2 produced by the fermentation needs to escape, so you either need to put an airlock on or open it up every day. This is the recipe for a bottle bomb and it's utterly irresponsible. Also, there's no way to tell how long the primary fermentation will last. It can be 7, or 8, or 10 or 14 days, depending on the yeast strain and external temperature.
Wow! Best video on Hibiscus wine I've seen. Please I want to ask; How long can it last and how can I make it non-alchoholic?
Alcohol content is low in this. This will last 6-8 months at room temperature
