    Thank you for just briefly touching up on your personal struggles with depression and suicide, it was really refreshing to me to see you who is so bubbly and just lovely to be around admit that they are not perfect, they're human after all but you still manage to see the good in things! A book that helps me find my way is: Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli.
    I have autism, anxiety and depression and having these makes it extremely difficult for me to face the world everyday, but ever since I read that book my self confidence has grown. I won't say no more as I don't want to spoil it for you but it is honestly one of the best books that will ever be published to date, in my opinion. ❤

    A book that helped me find my way was The Great Gatsby - it's a strange choice, I know, but I recognised a lot of aspects of my life in the characters and the fates that befall them showed me how much of a change was necessary for me to not suffer the same

    Omggggg I just finished the book thief because we read it in class but I was planning to read it anyways because I had heard it was so great but it was so good and made me an emotional wreck and I was sitting in class trying so hard not to cry it was so good but so sad but honestly it wouldn't have been believable if it wasn't sad I mean it was WWII in Nazi Germany and the narrator is death so I mean...but I still loved it and it had such a powerful message but it just hit me in the feels so hard.

    It makes me so happy that you love John Green. He's always been my favorite author and when I started watching booktube I found that nobody has anything good to say about him and his work on here and it's disappointing to me! Great video :) I'm reading an ARC of I Have Lost My Way now and it's great so far. I read half of it yesterday and hopefully can finish today.

    A book that reminds me of my childhood is Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree. I think it really helped build the imagination I have today. I still remember reading it with my mother.

    Mine are definitely Harry Potter and pride and prejudice. I grew up reading the Harry Potter books as they were coming out, with midnight releases and waiting years for a new book and constantly rereading the last ones to try and tide me over.there will never be a series or a book that will mean quite as much to me as that. And pride and prejudice I first read early in high school (when I was waiting for Deathly Hallows which was published the summer I graduated) and fell in love. It was the first adult book I'd ever read, I fell in love with the characters and the story and the only book I've reread more is Harry. This was an awesome video!

    For me it would be the Percy Jackson series, the Puzzle Ring by Kate Forsyth, the Trickster duology by Tamora Pierce and Venom by Fiona Paul. And odd mix, but that’s what’s so great about them!

    What a fabulous video. Your love of books is definitely contagious. :D A Wrinkle in Time gives me that coming home feeling, even though I just recently read it for the first time. So does The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. Books are amazing!

  • @calibaby6913

    I really liked this video concept I hope more people do videos like this as its more about what the book meant to you personally and you are able to go into that more deeply. For me, my number one book is Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix. I have dyslexia and I honestly was not able to read well unless it was a very simple and short book and even then I struggled. That is until I turned 13 and was in some store and my mom asked me if I wanted the new Harry Potter book, it had just come out, and I was like okay sure why not? It was almost a moment of fate because again I couldn’t read well nor had I read books 1-4 so why I said yes is still beyond me. Yet when I started reading it I couldn't stop and fully understanding everything and wasn’t struggling in any way with it. It was like a switch had turned on in my brain and I have not been without a book in my hand ever since...to the point that its becomes a problem of how many I own. Also reminds me of how determined I am as I decided that the first book I was going to read without help was almost 900! fing pages! Go big or go home right?

    Great video ! For me it's definitely Harry Potter, cliché I know but it's just so comforting to me (especially the first one). I know it'll bring me joy no matter what. In a weird way it also helps me put things into perspective, because if you think about it Harry's life was pretty sad and it kind of makes me feel grateful that I didn't have to go through all the things he went through (I wouldn't mind the magic but you know, loosing his parents, his life with the Dursleys, Voldemort etc) xD

    As a Belgian, it's really weird to me when non-Europeans say "imagine your family going through a world war". We all grew up with our (great)grandparents telling us stories about the rationing of food, losing people you love, the fear etc. School trips to concentration camps are mandatory because it's part of our history. And even though we all go quiet when standing in front of the execution wall or inside of the torture chamber, I feel like we're so used to it we kind of become desensitized to the horror

    • @elizewyn
      @elizewyn 6 років тому

      i'm french and i've never been to school trip to a concentration camp. I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing. I must be interesting but i fear i might fall apart just by going there. (too sensitive i guess) and my grands parents never talked about that time of their lives either...

    • @Aever1988
      @Aever1988 6 років тому

      I'm sure there's lots of people who never talk about the war(s). Depends on the person and what you've been through I guess. I'm not sure why it's mandatory here (or at least in my province) to go visit at least one concentration camp. But there are always a few people who get nauseous and have to leave, myself included. It's just that for us, the world wars aren't just a far away story because our ancestors lived it. Which in turn kind of takes of the sharp edges it has in others' minds

    Hey, this video really is a good idea :D Unlike majority of people (well I guess because I feel lonely to have that advice haha) I don't appreciate Alice in wonderland, wether it's a book or movie or anything, I just find it very disturbing haha
    I really need to read the book theif as well ! I've been wanting to for years and I even had bought the book but my dad borrowed it and since then I can't find it anywhere anymore :(
    Wow your fairy tales and folklore book is so beautiful ! Stalking Jack the ripper seems to be cool :)
    I'm french and I'm always interested in books talking about world war II and I must admit I always get angry when some people of my country pretend that we never did anything wrong and that all of the german people were nazis because that is so untrue. I don't know a lot about Netherlands though, I'm curious !
    I'm currently healing from depression so I'm interested in the subject but I don't feel ready yet to read fictions about it because I'm too scared to recognize myself too much or on the contrary afraid of feeling guilty because "there is worse". But I really like reading articles or books that are written by psychologists or people who know what they're talking about, without any judgement and explanations and everything. It helps me to understand and lessens the tendency to be mean to myself.
    I have 3 brothers and no sister and I've always wondered what it feels like but I will never know haha The nightingale seems to be very intersting though, I agree we women need to know we can be strong and I'm both reassured and scared with everything that happened lately.
    My very big wishlist does NOT thank you haha But thanks ! Bye xoxo
