If you buy this mower .. make sure you use bag .. if you use mulch mode it will bog down badly with anything over 4"-5"of grass.. thats why i mention using bag in this vid . That being said if you maintain your lawn regularly and only taking a 2" off .. you should be ok mulching . .. In final as far as budget mowers both the Hart and Ryobi blow this mower away .
@@toolboss8410 where I live the Ryobi is currently 350, the hart is 328, and the Skil is 250. All newest model push, 40v 20 inch. Seems like the big advantage of the Ryobi/Hart is that they have a side chute. The big advantage of the Skil, besides price, is that it's backed by the company that makes Ego. I don't know if that side chute is worth $78-100.
@@fragmentalstew they might be different or newer versions . This video 3 years old .. the nodels i have of the hart was actually cheaper then the skil .. but not sure about now ..
Idk why Skil didn't add an option to add a rear chute the way the Egos do. Maybe they did it so there wouldn't be as much overlap with the Egos, or to save costs. Maybe the next model will have a side chute. I've heard that the ego rear side chute attachment doesn't work that great, though.
I was indifferent about buying a battery operated mower because, like most of us, we are so accustom to gas mowers. But I bit the bullet, I got the most basic skil mower and there were a few things I loved about it immediately. 1) It comes already assembled. 2) It is soooo light. Super easy to move around. Kind of felt like I was vacuuming my yard lol. 3) Bags perfectly. 4) My grass was about 6-7 inches and the mower handled it well! (Our mowers ghosted me after 4 years) and my grass was almost 3 weeks high. So I had to buy something quick. Im on about .5 acres. I do believe I will need a second battery. Totally worth since i'll be saving a couple hundred a month. So Ill just get the second battery and Ill be set. I highly recommend getting a second battery to alternate between the two (just in case). Also, don't mow on the lowest one. I would always stay above 1-2 notches above the lowest setting. I think it stresses the mower & the battery. Be safe and mow on a higher setting.
Depending on what you are mowing, I use the lowest, even on bumpy ground. The only thing that stops the mower has been tall, wet grass. I love this mower.
I do like the small ish 19 in cordless mowers... good for cutting in and around... if you have a small yard or if you have a lot of Shrubbery and Landscaping and you need to maneuver this would be the type of cordless mower that you would want
Just bought one. The only unopened one on the shelf. Looks awesome but the battery came leaking, that can't be good? Also 15 mins charging is minimal, full charging takes over an hour
Man...I’ve been considering a li-ion Mower but I just got too good of a deal on a returned Honda HRN 217 for $200. Also is it just me or do none of these battery mowers sound as satisfying as the makita motor revving up and down with the heavier loads?
@@boosted2.4_sky They manufacture these Skil mowers as well. Same company makes all three brands, which is why they're all on virtually identical 40v platforms now.

Hart 40v is best for price.. i just got 20v testing this week . .the makita is 399 right now steel deck built great but i believe hart is $249 and a great mower as well
Does the bag have to be put onto the machine even if you’ve got the mulch block inserted in order to start the machine? I could not get the thing going today and it is brand new
Skil is like copying Milwaukee and vice versa. Lol. I have all of the 12volt tools and they are all somewhat a copy of either a m12 or m18 designs. Lol. Just cheaper matetial and a lil bulkier, bit pretty giid fir the price.
@@toolboss8410 They say it has a governor to kick in higher power under a load but all mine does is turn off. It's designed so people don't overheat the motor and burn it up. what ive heard , the plastic shaft that turns the blade and other stuff underneath will wear out quickly, .and most brands dont offer any replacement parts.
Maybe but with Skil you have it a 5 year warranty so that would be the minimum..and I Kno people that have the first generation ego mower from 2012-2013..so not sure who you heard that from ..but not educated on the technology I reckon 👍
Funny how you say you got a lot of questions about attaching the bag, which is an important part of assembly, yet you sped through it with NO sound.. like WTF bro man?
Putting a bag on ? Important part of assembly.. if you cant do that , you should hire someone to cut your lawn .. i dont think you should be doing any kind of labor with a spinning blade

This is one of the best reviews I’ve seen. Thank you so much for being thorough with your review. It helps others make clear decision.

Does a great job mowing ...great video 👍👊

Great job Boss! You broke in that mower nicely with that tall grass 👍

Thank you. I appreciate the previous comments as well. I will give it a try today. I am the lawn care girl now. Wish me luck. #exercise101🤣😂
Great review. I just bought one!
As soon as I buy this mower Milwaukee would come out with theirs lol
Just repaint Milwaukee on it lol
Lol right
Just saw one of these today at the local hardware. Have to check it out closer tomorrow.
Pretty solid mower .

Deciding between this and a Ryobi 20” at HD. Ryobi is cheaper by 50
And maybe a tad smaller. Any ideas?

Yes these are diy mowers .. couple hundred bucks .. have to remember the price point of Makita
With Ego exclusively at Lowe's will Kobalt OPE be discontinued?

It has a hard time with stringy tall grass. Go slow and keep the blade sharp or it'll stall under the heavy load.
