The eye is associated with mourning. It usually was a representation of your true love's. One of England's King carried a brooch with a painting of his mistresses eye. He could discreetly gaze upon his true love's eye and none would be the wiser of his actions or thoughts. This pre photography.

@@ashleycole97 Yes, that whole collection seems more victoriana or dark academia tbh, but a couple of those items were really nice. The wall cubbys were quite lovely.
