Easier transition on the design language towards electrification. They are trying to attract a younger audience since the regulations and rivals push them and since they know their purists will probably hold onto their cars and won’t upgrade. A 60yo had his chances to buy an M car from the past. The same goes on for a 50yo , a 40yo and even a 30yo. So they will probably sell more M cars to younger people, thus the revolution than an evolution on their designs. The worst part its NOT the design, but the driving dynamics and character. Cars nowadays lack character and soul usually due to weight-size increase and many tech and safety features. Sound insulation , steering feel , playfulness. Sure they’re fast beasts , but fast doesnt mean fun. And its not just BMW , even Porsche. The 992 GT3 is a very different car to the 996/997 even the 991 in terms of driving fun. So after all , BMW seemed to did its homework. They do really know how to attract new audience. The sales numbers speak !
I know I'm in the minority on these bmw fan pages but could they have put a great car in a blander design. It's really just a Toyota Carolla with a body kit. Really enjoy the sketch monkey but liking such a redundant, rinse and repeat design surprised me... this is just the same bmw design language that we've had to endure for like the last 20years. Thank goodness for the g series, atleast it's somewhat original.

they need to get hit by the low sales then they will know.
