I still think the strike playlist and strike specific loot was a massive reason D1 didn't get as tiresome as D2 does
I can return to D1 constantly and get far less burned out than with D2
also leveling up and grinding engrams actually feels like a grind with progress(rewarding) doesn't really become a slog till the legendary grind near max level

D1 was an actual “video game”. Destiny 2 is essentially a well done mobile game now. It’s soulless

The issue is that Bungie let us play D1 however we wanted. So when you got bored of one part of the game, you could hop to another part that still felt fresh
But with D2 Bungie has always tried to micromanage our play. Forcing you to play the parts of the game they wanted us to play…whether we enjoyed it or not.
“Play our game, our way or we won’t reward you!” After years of this players are so tired that they just don’t care anymore.

I think I’ve actually had a lot of issues with the core sandbox recently. I will preface this by saying that I like to dabble a lot in every subclass.
I think one of my main issue with how pve is balanced is really the focus on healing and survivability. If you are playing a class without access to consistent healing a lot of modern content is miserable. If you play a class with healing you genuinely don’t notice anything.
This was highlighted to me most recently with the vespers host boss. That damage phase is strait torture if you don’t have a healer or a build that allows you to heal easily. The amount of nearly unavoidable damage during dps is insane.
I think it really comes down to how enemies are designed. We have good examples like the witness or Rhulk, where if you are skilled enough you can do those fight basically hitless, which imo is a really good thing, I want more skill expression in destiny’s combat.
However when nearly every enemy in the game has attacks that auto track, are hitscan or have large aoe’s (which make it so you can’t even hide behind cover), avoiding taking damage is nearly impossible. This basically forces you onto a build that gives you healing or some form or damage reduction. Destiny’s survivability isn’t really any form of dodging, it’s really just how much can you face tank attacks and heal it back. This detracts from the skill expression in this game imo. It really feels like building into survivability has become a non-choice at this point.
I personally would want to see a lot of enemies attacks be reworked. I’m tired of the auto tracking, hitscan snipers, massive aoe projectiles where it feels like the only thing you can do it build into more healing. I want enemy attacks to stay powerful but I also want them to be more telegraphed and dodgeable.
I want destiny’s skill expression to be how well can I weave through my enemies attacks while also dealing as much damage as possible, not how can I build to just ignore all these enemies and tank through everything.

We need armor set bonuses that matter. If you wear a full set, its effect should be equal to if not better than an exotic, you wouldn't be able to wear an exotic, it must be a 5/5 to get the bonus and it must be all or nothing. They should probably be specific to the activity they're from, for example, if you wear a full set of vespers host armor you are immune to the radiation from the both the cores and the irradiated enemies (not the wipe mechanic in the lower rooms, that would be broken). A full PvP set might let you revive faster and/or spawn with additional special ammo. keep in mind, you can't wear an exotic to get these bonuses, even if you wear 4 items, you should either get a massively reduced benefit or none at all.

I feel like the buffs you thought of for vesper host is kinda bad, if you want it to be better or equal to a exotic, it shouldn't be dungeon specific, something relating to buildcrafting and not a mechanic cause there is no point in having immunity to radiation if most content doesn't have it. Or faster revives in PVP, if you want to be better or equal it should be something with more impact than that because in what world am I going to use like faster revive or more ammo over lets say thruster with alpha lupi or ophidian aspects which have major impact on pvp. Also they are planning on implementing having over 100 strength or discipline gives a chance of getting your nade or melee back in frontiers, it was in one of their articles a lil while back.

I'll keep saying tiis until they fix it - the new player experience is one of the worst in all of gaming.
My own personal experience - I had several IRL friends join in Witchqueen because of the buzz. They loved it but didnt stick around because it's just too overwhelming.
It doesnt matter how many new guardians join in Witchqueen or the Final Shape if we cant get them to stick around because of the huge wall that is the new player experience.

Exotic weapons don’t even feel exotic anymore at all. It’s mind boggling how a Mobile game has more creativity for weapons and exotics than the actual main game

I think the long abandonment of core modes like strikes and PvP really hurt my care for the game, I’ll even throw Gambit in there as well since I liked it even though Bungie never acknowledged its existence for years. To keep piling on seasons and DLCs onto playlists and maps that are years and years old and adding nothing to go for for them for a long time it just feels like crap. My time is over with Destiny and I of course had the highs but the feeling of the potential it could’ve had, especially in the PvP side, will always leave me wondering “what if”

@@zyphreiumv4529whether you like it or not, destiny was at it’s peak when both modes pve and pvp backed each other up, whole of d1, forsaken era mostly. The moment you choose not to bring new core activity armor for gambit, crucible, strikes and give it to the store, i can already tell that bungie and whoever makes those decisions is just a greedy son of a bitch that deserves to either be fired or for the game to die. Choosing monetisation over core game features is a crime. We should have been getting 2-3 pvp maps per EPISODE, new game modes, and most importantly actually new weapon designs for both strikes and crucible, the feeling of getting a gun and being another veist smg is the biggest let down ever. But i do agree that the sandboxs should be different, pvp should not have strand, stasis or prismatic, and actually keep the subclass trees we had before only for light elements, make the movement slower and ammo economy better while handing out maps and cool rewards and pvp is back on top without affecting pve

Destiny has a lot of issues that just stop it from truly succeeding. From weapons to exploration, it’s just all half-baked.
There’s a glaring lack of QOL features that most MMOs have, like player housing. The game has no idea whether it wants to be a looter-shooter or not, just based on the back-and-forth between crafting and RNG. Builds are far too compact and rely too much on ability-spam to be truly unique. Enemy classes haven’t had actual, game-changing updates for a LONG time, the last truly notable addition was Brigs and Wyverns in BL. There’s too much recycled content, especially content that got removed and re-introduced while still costing money when we already paid for it (seasonal weapons come to mind). Finally, my biggest gripe is the microtransactions and how they are becoming priority for many parts of the game. Cosmetics should be earnable in-game if they are tied to a faction or location, not sold for silver for sometimes as high as $20. Transmog should be available for any armor after you unlock it, not require some stupid currency that you can only earn a certain amount of every season.

Destiny’s buildcrafting is just so outdated and feels paralyzed at this point. As long as you select a certain exotic armour and the aspect you want to use, there’s hardly any room for versatility.
For instance, I find that for most of the subclasses, there’s at least 2-3 fragments you wouldn’t be caught dead without, which leaves room for like 1 maaaybe 2 other ones, often which are mid, at best, and by themselves don’t contribute to any sort of gameplay loop, so they’re pretty much never worth using unless you’re going for some super niche role. It’s frustrating seeing those “options” that can’t really be implemented in practice due to the limits of the aspect/fragment system.
Plus the vast majority of exotic armors are tied specifically to a subclass so in reality you have like 4 or 5 armors to pick from for your “build”. Everything just feels very restrictive and 1 dimensional. Hardly any out-side-the-box thinking is permitted.
At this point it feels like all that build crafting has become is how can I get orbs to heal and reduce ability cooldown while wearing the same fragments for everything. You dont actually have to think any more, especially because Champions restrict our gun choices so stringently now too.
The skill tree needs a total and utter rework. Also Champions need to disappear or have more versatility in terms of counter play.

I didnt support destiny ever since they announced on bungie day of all things (celebrating their players) that PS would be getting exclusive content within every aspect of the game from pre orders of all things, to the main game, to the dlc, to FREE events.
Then ofc the game sucked anyways and was saved apparently by ttk.
When D2 came out and sucked I laughed. More little rats running around.
Then they started literally removing paid content and I laughed even harder at people who supported this game still.
Then through the outright lies about mechanics like exp, to farming, to recent lies about rolls,to every failure.
All I can think is, you deserve each other. Anyone who keeps playing such a game despite all that and more is a chump and has no right to be mad about the state of the game.
