  • The @WHOOP Strap 4.0 has been the answer to what I’ve wanted for a while: a robust fitness and health tracker with tons of data but NOT a smartwatch. That means I don’t have to worry about a screen scratching or breaking, it doesn’t demand my attention, and it has long battery life so that I can use it for sleep tracking.
    I’ve already implemented it into my everyday life for the past month, but here’s my unboxing and overview!

    I would buy a whoop in a heartbeat if I could buy it outright I hate that it's a subscription service.

    • @ThisIsTechToday
      @ThisIsTechToday  4 місяці тому +17

      Normally, I hate subscriptions, but. this one makes sense.
      - You get free upgrades, so when Whoop 5.0 comes out, you get it sent out to you.
      - You get free replacements. If you break it or it stops working, they send a new one. They even sent me another battery when I lost mine.
      - Not only do you not have to worry about breaking it, it also doesn't have fragile parts that can scratch or crack like a screen.
      - They have major upgrades and updates nearly every month or every other month, and they're actually useful and awesome. More than what other fitness bands offer.
      - Other fitness bands like fitbit or apple watch require a subscription if you want to use all of the health tracking or fitness/workout features anyways.
      - The amount you'd pay is less than what you'd pay if you had to buy a smartwatch outright every 2 years. If you do buy a smartwatch, you're likely paying for warranty and repair like AppleCare+, and you have a subscription anyways for all the features.
      So all that to say, I actually feel like I'm paying LESS and getting MORE than if I went with other options where I buy it outright.

      @@ThisIsTechTodayThat is pretty cool and I didn’t know that so I might just buy it but I do want to let you know that the Apple Watch doesn’t have a subscription to use it’s health features the only subscription is for Fitness+ which has nothing to do with accessing your data.

    I got tired of updating my Apple Watch, and paying the monthly added fee for the extra phone on my account. Plus, I prefer wearing traditional watches during the work day (go with my attire better than a smartwatch). I’ve worn the Oura ring for about a year now. It fits my needs better, but for fitness it’s not meeting my needs. Plus, it’s uncomfortable rowing wearing the ring. I’m going to try the Whoop hoping it meets my needs.

      @ThisIsTechToday  Рік тому +28

      I paid $17 a month. The monthly fee is actually worth it because they have added new features every month, if they come out with a new model they'll send that one out to you, if you break yours, they'll send a new one out, and the value of taking care of your health is worth the cost. A lot of people who were hesitant to get it end up seeing how its worth it after using it for a few months. I hate subscriptions and fees. This is one that I'm on board for.

It has no screen and is very simple, and has a long battery life of 5 days compared to about 1 days for other watches. Premium isn’t a must, and its 10 dollars a month instead of 30.

      You don't pay for the strap. That's what people don't understand. You break it, it stops working, they put out a new one and they send you one for free. It's ONLY the subscription you pay and any new bands you want to get. If you replace a smart watch every one or two years this ends up being cheaper than that.
