I am a dedicated Pocket gun enthusiast. Have belonged to a Club that specializes in them since the LCP first came out. I own many. The Beretta Pico is my number one choice. A extremely under rated, under appreciated firearm. Extremely well built. Will go thousands of rounds when other's bite the dust with cracks, split rails etc. Modular design which makes is so easy to work on, few parts. Stainless steel throughout the gun. Top quality magazines with metal follower. Easy to add night sights. Ounce for ounce, one of the best firearms every made.
I carried a Kel-Tec P3AT until last month when I bought a Ruger LCP Max. I really like the LCP Max and it has become my new pocket pistol especially since I got a J&J leather holster and it has a flap on the front so it prints like a wallet, you need to check them out.
Taurus spectrum. Amazingly accurate. Carried mine every day in very rough work conditions for 4 years . Only 200 rounds through it scattered periodically . No failures and is extremely accurate when you stay behind the trigger
My pocket carry choice is my LCP Max with 12+1 .380 Underwood Extreme Defender ammo and a spare 12 round mag in my other pocket. The pistol is accurate, very low recoil, and I forget it's in my pocket because it's small & light.
The Max is the one I think I'm going to get. After alot of research, I think it's the best pic, though I think I would like a dif rear sight so it would have the three dot for low light, though I also like the way the Max's rear is rounded, so not to grab or wear on your pocket.
@@putteslaintxtbks5166 I have it it’s absolute beast. It’s the right way to go. My only complaint is there gonna try to sell you the rear green sites for a stupid amount on Rugers site
I've been thinking about the same gun with same ammo choice because of short barrel and the power 380 has you don't gotta worry about a bullet expanding or not was just checking one out at my lgs
My 642 pro is so easy to throw into a coat pocket for a quick run to A store or something. With the long hard DA trigger pull it’s extremely safe to carry even without a holster in a coat pocket as long as the pocket is empty. 👍🏻
With that trigger pull, you certainly are not going to shoot it accidentally. And, if your hands are as weak as my 83 year old hands, you are not likely to shoot it on purpose either.
The P938 has an extended 7 rnd mag, I have three plus the original 6 rnd. I also have the DeSantis pocket holster which I use to keep the P938 at nigh and available. My preferred carry are custom OWB pancake holsters, one snap on the belt like a normal pancake and one paddle pancake for easy on/off. The DeSantis also works well with jackets.
It's nice that you are presenting this personally without a tight script and without a computer voice. Accordingly, I have subscribed. The Glock 42 is probably the only Glock I would buy. I think it stands apart from the other "pocket" pistols as a better behaved gun. And I recognise it as more manageable than the 43. Frankly, I wouldn't buy a micro 9mm. While the 42 is large for a micro/pocket pistol, its thinness is an advantage. Among larger guns there are so many more exciting models than Glocks, which are equally well-behaved.
My backup pocket carry pistols are the S&W M&P Bodyguard and the Taurus PT738 TCP in 380ACP. Both are accurate, reliable and eats everything I feed them. Thanks for the video and have a great Easter weekend.
My deep concealment is the .380 Bodyguard, also. Lots of people find the trigger too heavy, but I never did. I have always thought it to be smooth but not too light.
My first civilian firearm was a Bodyguard 380. I never liked lugging around a Colt 45 service pistol and wanted something that was small, lightweight, and easy to conceal. It's a hammer fired semi auto with a long trigger pull like a revolver. The Bodyguard fits in a front pocket and no one knows I carry it. I know that 380 ACP defensive ammo is an adequate so I have no regrets with my choice for 7 years now.
The LCP Max is hands down the best pocket-carry gun. I'm retired and wear sweat pants most of the time and I can carry the Max in the pants pocket or shirt pocket easily. And with the 12 rd mag you get 13 rounds to defend yourself.
I carry a j frame every day in a Sticky. Super light and disappears in my front pocket. I have other options but none more convenient so it's always with me.
Thanks so much. I bought a 9mm S&W M&P EZ and thought it would be good for carrying but I think it's a little too much for that. All I care about is that it won't fail when I need it to work, and that it's light, small, accurate and safe.
Check out the Ruger LCP Max. Great trigger, never felled to fire or eject. Good sights and I carry a Ruger 12 round magazine and spare in my pocket. I carry it in my Kydex IWB holster and don’t even know it on my hip. Carry good hollow points and you will be good to go.
Kel-Tec P32 is the king of pocket carry. 10 ounces fully loaded. The 42 is too large and nobody wants a cocked and locked single action in a pocket. The Airweight is a good choice too.
For a couple years I carried a Kahr cm9, this is smaller than all 3 of the guns shown here, and chambered in 9mm. 6+1 capacity, striker fired with a long tuned revolver type trigger. Throw it in any pocket holster and you are good to go. Even in jeans. Since then however, I prefer belt carry, people don’t care what’s under your shirt anyway, it’s a quick draw and I can carry up to a 17 round capacity, with as light as a tshirt. I prefer an undershirt with a Hawaiian type shirt un-tucked.
Great video. I have now gained confidence in my 2013-vintage P938 to where I trust it even with the 7-round magazine. Being fundamentally a 1911 person I like this particular Sig because my 1911 training is somewhat transferrable. I never had an issue with the 6-round magazine but the earlier 7-rounders were terrible. Very recently I noticed some physical differences between my legacy 7-round magazines and the newest iteration. I switched to the gen 2 mag release and the new 7-round magazine and the gun is now truly trust-worthy. The P938 is very accurate and I rank it as my best pocket-carry gun. My number two would be my Ruger LCP Max followed by my Walther PPS M2. But as you point out it’s a highly, personal-preference decision. For the up close and personal PD scenarios most civilians may face, the .380 ACP is more than adequate in my opinion. And, since I’m not in the counter-insurgency business any longer I don’t place high capacity on my priority list. I do put high priority on reliability.
I daily pocket carry the Sig P-938 in an Alien Gear Shapeshifter holster that’s designed for pocket carry. The pistol is reliable and accurate. The holster is designed to remain in the pocket upon draw, and its design obscures printing very well. I’m very pleased with this setup. I have been a 1911 carrier for a couple decades so this was a simple addition to my carry choices.
My three pocket carry guns: 1. S&W Model 37 Airweight revolver in .38 Spl (full power Buffalo Bore ammo) 2. Kahr PM9 semiauto in 9mm (0.9 inch thick, disappears in pocket) 3. Beretta 950 Jetfire in .25 ACP (very tiny pistol for deep cover)
I agree with your take on pocket carry. My picks would be different but there are still a lot of good choices out there although affordable SA/DA are getting harder to find.
I was lucky and fortunate enough to find a used in excellent condition 11oz Smith 342 air light Ti centennial 38sp titanium cylinder.. I added full size rubber hogue monogrips.. it rides in my right front pocket in a DeSantis Superfly pocket holster
A very good video. I have a variety of pocket carry handguns such as the Kel-Tec P32, Ruger LCP, S&W 642, Kahr PM9, and a Ruger LC9S. Of these I find the J frame works least best for pant pocket concealment due to its length. What ends up happening is the butt is peaking out of my pocket unless the pockets are deep. But it is ultra-reliable and smooth as a cue ball on the draw. And, strangely enough, that grip that seems to constantly wants to peak out is also the easiest of all these mentioned holstered handguns for me to draw from a pant pocket. The P32 and LCP are hands down the lightest and thinnest, thus most concealable with never a weight issue at all tugging your pant or shorts down. The LCP's drawback is they take a lot of practice to master. The P32 is actually far easier to shoot over the LCP and does not have that stinging snap. In the 9mm camp the Kahr is my number one choice. Thin, light, extremely reliable and very concealable and easy to shoot. The LC9S is a bit bulkier but the price is right for the budget limited. I prefer well-made leather pocket holsters but also own the Desantis Nemesis as well for each of those guns too.
I love my Model 36. What a great option for carry. I don’t pocket carry, but both my carry guns can be worn in pocket: Glock 19 and Ruger LCP Max. Great video, thank you
Well, close!... :>0 My top 3 pocket carry guns are: The Seecamp LWS .32"ACP; The Glock 42 .380"ACP and The S&W 642 ProSeries .38"Spl. And each brings a specific functionality to the table that I find important, aside from all of them been totally reliable and easy to conceal/carry in a pocket. I find the LWS really easy to conceal under ANY circumstance, probably even if I'm only wearing my boxer shorts, but it's NOT the easiest/pleasant pistol to shoot. The G42 is a sweet pistol to shoot well, even at distance. The 642 can fire 5 times through a coat pocket, or at contact distance (and I mean shoved-into the perp through the coat pocket...) without any reliability issues. I'am also particular to Kramer pocket holsters and that's what I carry these in my pants pockets. Great information...
I agree with your carry choices, pretty well rounded group. A pistol I am considering now is the Ruger LCP Maxx .380, small size and comes in at about 10 ounces so easy to carry.
I have one and carry it a lot. It's accurate, reliable, and has great night sights. I carry it 12+1 and keep spare 12 round mag in my other pocket. Of course it's loaded with Underwood Extreme Defender ammo
@@granthenderson696 yesssss, I'm glad you like yours too. I have pushed mine out to 20 yards with nice hits on Target for fun. The underwood ammo I use is powerful and very accurate. Nobody is gonna be shooting in self defense from 60 feet away when most self defense cases are 9 feet or less. What ammo do you use in yours?
@@whatsup24_7 ….wow 20 yards is impressive! I’ll work up to that. I’m using Blazer 95grain brass on range and carrying Hornady Critical Defence 90grain as CC … I have 2 spare 12 round mags….. excessive I know!😆😆😆
After trying red out a few ruger and range time I carry a M&P bodyguard I only have 100 rounds through It was 380 is expensive right now and hard to find . Was carrying a ruger ec9 still have it but a bit heavier for pocket carry for me . Awesome video.
My every day carry is a Glock 42 with Trijicon HD XR Night Sights and a 9 round ETS magazine fitted with an XGRIP for a full three-finger grip. I load the magazine with 8 rounds maximum, plus one in the chamber, to ensure 100% reliability. Ammo of choice is Underwood Extreme Penetrator 380+P. This combination has very little recoil, is very controllable and EXTREMELY accurate! I carry it 24/7 in a DeSantis Nemesis Pocket Holster and honestly it's so light and compact that I forget it's there. The best self-defense pistol is the one you never leave home without!
What is a good choice for a newbie 1st time gun buyer to learn with? 380 or a 22LR. I was thinking the SW Body Guard or the Ruger LCP. Please let me know what you think. I would appreciate your opinion. Thank you in advance.
The first thing you should do is go to a reputable range that has guns you can try out. This is really the only way to find a gun that is a good fit for your hand size and to figure out which features you want on your gun.
All great guns here but still too big for my work day. I need micro in my pocket so I've got a Kel tec 3AT. It's just a get off me get away gun but it's one I will actually carry everyday.
I carry a Sig 938 Legion has a 7+1 capacity of 9mm Lugar in a Mika pocket holster. I think it is much better than the 6+1 .380 Glock 42 not to mention it's largely plastic. I like revolvers and, for a while carried a Ruger SP101 .357 but it was just too heavy and just five rounds.
Take it from me a street guy I've been in all kinds of dangerous situations over the years and pocket rockets was a staple. I've been up close with dangerous people under very shady conditions I reflect on pocket rockets of many different calibers the one that was a staple for me was the 38spl why because that's the one I had the most. At 54 I can only say he's right and that's from personal experience.
Good video. I live in the Florida panhandle. I usually wear nursing scrubs or shorts. Been carrying a little Beretta 22 in a pocket or a Sig 365 in a belly band. Seems to be the best I can do. I've moved away from the 38 snubs because, with age, my accuracy has fallen off. At 62, I need to practice more. My minimum is headshots at 10yds.
Always good to have a pocket carry gun for deep concealment. Would be nice to have something tiny just for that purpose of hiding nicely. Can’t remember if you’ve done a top 3 before, but would love to see your top 3 pick for other categories too like compacts and full size guns!
Kimber's Micro 9 factory 8 round magazines (got 2 from Midwayusa, available elsewhere also) work very well in my Sig P938 SAS! $11 cheaper than the Sig mags, too. Fine point is the extra length takes care of the short grip issue, & makes the pinky finger feel right at home. ;-]
Just recently picked up the Taurus 605 .357/.38 5 shot performance Polly with semi shrouded hammer. Main carry is a Glock 43x OEM. But Sunday gun and quick to the store gun is the Taurus 605 PP .357 snub
I have the P938, great gun, with the DeSantis pocket holster (great choice) as Newell as a custom pancake OWB. In CA, you can only get one pistol on your initial, and the second is a bitch, so it’s pretty much all I can carry. It does have an extended mag with 7 rounds that feels better than the six round mag.
I'm gonna say this! I had a Colt mustang and mustang government pocket lite. I don't understand why they can't put a handle safety like a regular 1911? But you wouldn't believe how many times that safety on the mustang would find itself in the firing position at the end of the day. That's why I would never carry a sig or anything like that until they put a grip safety on it
Diamondback just came out with an intriguing option in the SDR. It seems to be a well made 6 shot J frame sized 357 with good sights. I would likely carry 38 in it.
Any idea what kind of finish is on the P229 Dark Elite? It looks nice. It kind of looks like anodizing, but there are other finishes that look similar.
I don't care for single action 1911 type semi automatic pistols for pocket carry..DOA .. is the only way to go for pocket pistol... My favorite is to discontinued Taurus TCP 380.. it has decent sites which I have painted Orange.. last shot slide locks open.. no external safety or mag disconnect.. really nice DOA trigger... Accurate out to 50 ft..6+1=7
For me pocket carry means pocket carry. Two thoughts follow. (well 3 counting affordability) The very first thoughts for best pocket carry is WEIGHT. Specific attention to weight, which is often generically referenced in these reviews but far to often never specifically stated. This has always baffled me in these reviews. The reason specific weight should be noted and of primary consideration is because along with that will most often be size. The lighter the gun most often the smaller it would be. Considering available options over 14oz is definitely too heavy for "pocket carry". The gun you throw in your pocket and go. Next would be the physical traits of the gun i.e. things on the gun that might catch on clothes which could lead to fumbling and inadvertently grabbing the trigger. IMPO that Sig would fail miserably in both counts. If someone asked me which guns make for the best lint catching "pocket carry" guns I instantly think of a few. In this order of thought, Kel Tec P32, and P3AT, Taurus Spectrum and similar, the LCPs, then the heavier S&W Bodyguard ( which in my view is a bit on the heavy side considering available choices. For EDC holstered guns, I'd be looking at guns under 19oz. Plenty available in full 9mm. SCCY, Ruger, and the Taurus GX4 and for me, never a gun with external safety.
Thank you for the information but after reading all the comments I am really leaning towards the Rugar LCP max and it comes with a pocket holster. The only thing I really don’t like about it is that it has no safety-
One user of various ammo commented that the .380 round is a 'vicious little round'. A good choice for your 642 is the DeSantis 'Superfly' holster, which can conceal the butt of the revolver.
Maybe the PD 360 has to take the honour as the definitive pocket gun. 11 ounces of reliable, 357 magnum dispensing gob stoppers.. Hard to beat though no doubt a bit hard to shoot.
You should consider kydex pocket holsters with a thumb release for semi auto pistols. I use a vedder pocket locket with curve for my P238. It works great.
Pocket carry is the anytime option you don't have to dress around the gun. A single action carried hammer down is my choice. I can thumb the hammer as easily as the safety. That's why God put it there.
@@rpbajb a lot of times with 1911 type pistols the safety comes off even though the trigger is covered they can still go off. If you feel safe with it good luck.
@@rpbajb I guess I had a flashback to vietnam most of the 1911 we had were wore out a soldier had one on when he was exiting a jeep the muzzle bumped the steering wheel and it went off going thru hills lower leg did not hit bone but he was hurting the new guns have some sort of firing pin safety they are probably safe. I went out around the jeep and found the cartridge the primer wasn't hit very hard but it went off.

Thank you. That’s good advice.
Appreciate it.
Titan 25acp, Taurus G3c and Ruger SP-101 edc
All great guns here but still too big for my work day. I need micro in my pocket so I've got a Kel tec 3AT. It's just a get off me get away gun but it's one I will actually carry everyday.
Depends on the size of the pocket.
Ruger LCP
S&W 638
Sig P365
Two of my most favorites, 638 and LCP Max.
I carry an air weight in the pocket with or without a holster. Either way is fine for me.
Just get a Kel-Tec .32.
Easy to carry.
Easy to shoot.
Fiocchi 73 grain makes FBI test approved
Excellent comparison 🎉
Great video! Love the small semi with pocket jframe combo. It’s my preferred configuration when going into the city.
It would be nice to see more types of 32 H&R mag ammo.
Very informative, Sir. Be safe.
Always sir, always.
Seacamp 32, S&W 442, and Ruger LCP ll Just my opinion. I have all three, Ruger is my main carry. I do like your 3 best carry. Can't beat 642 Smith. 👍👍
Ruger redhawk.454 cassul was #4 right?
Mine....1) Ruger Sp 101 .357mag 2" revolver 2) AMT .45 back up 3) Ruger Super Red Hawk .44 mag. 2 1/4" barrel
But none of those are pocket carry.
Always good to have a pocket carry gun for deep concealment. Would be nice to have something tiny just for that purpose of hiding nicely. Can’t remember if you’ve done a top 3 before, but would love to see your top 3 pick for other categories too like compacts and full size guns!
The "top 3" certainly evolves over time. I bet I can do a compact and full size top 3 in the near future, Thanks for the input!
@@TheConcealedCarryChannel and that’s why we can’t have just 3 🤣.
The really nice thing about the glock 42 it shoots as good and as accurate as the big glocks thank you for your video good work
Kimber's Micro 9 factory 8 round magazines (got 2 from Midwayusa, available elsewhere also) work very well in my Sig P938 SAS! $11 cheaper than the Sig mags, too. Fine point is the extra length takes care of the short grip issue, & makes the pinky finger feel right at home. ;-]
Sig p238, Ruger LCP Max, S&W 442 and sometimes a Sig P365 with the 10 round magazine.
A Ruger LC9 Pro and a S&W 642 is all I came up with when considering this question.
Just recently picked up the Taurus 605 .357/.38 5 shot performance Polly with semi shrouded hammer. Main carry is a Glock 43x OEM. But Sunday gun and quick to the store gun is the Taurus 605 PP .357 snub
The PUG .22 magnum & the BLACKWIDOW .22 mag both have a second .22 LR cylinder for fun.
I 100% agree with everything in this video
I have the P938, great gun, with the DeSantis pocket holster (great choice) as Newell as a custom pancake OWB. In CA, you can only get one pistol on your initial, and the second is a bitch, so it’s pretty much all I can carry. It does have an extended mag with 7 rounds that feels better than the six round mag.
I'm gonna say this! I had a Colt mustang and mustang government pocket lite. I don't understand why they can't put a handle safety like a regular 1911? But you wouldn't believe how many times that safety on the mustang would find itself in the firing position at the end of the day. That's why I would never carry a sig or anything like that until they put a grip safety on it
The air weight is punishing to shoot
Diamondback just came out with an intriguing option in the SDR. It seems to be a well made 6 shot J frame sized 357 with good sights. I would likely carry 38 in it.
Springfield 911. Basically exactly a P238 but I don’t get slide bite with the 911
S&W 43C was my choice. Always in my pocket and you barely know it. 8 shots of .22lr. I'm good
My P238 is scary accurate and has yet to malfunction, but even my PT22 is in a holster Not in my pocket
reasonable and logical approach
I think the best pocket carry guns is the ruger lcr and the sig p365
A 642 in a blue force gear pocket holster is very hard to beat.
I carry a Beretta. 25 but am considering the LCP
(well 3 counting affordability)
The very first thoughts for best pocket carry is WEIGHT.
I carry a Taurus 605 .357 magnum snub nose a lot in my leather DeSantis holster!! Very comfortable
Love my Glock 42. Its rides in my pocket every day.
L.W. Seacamp, the Rolex of pocket pistols. IF you can afford it and IF you can find it, buy one
LCR with a shrouded hammer chambered in 38special plus p
Thank you for the information but after reading all the comments I am really leaning towards the Rugar LCP max and it comes with a pocket holster. The only thing I really don’t like about it is that it has no safety-
Beretta Tomcat 32-acp for the lady who can avoid racking given the flip up barrel design. A true pocket gun!
I have a S&W 640 Centennial. Old reliable 💪🏽
I actually prefer.380 for pocket carry. All the 9’s I’ve tried are too heavy to be comfortable all day.
I honestly would carry anyone of these good video 👍
Lcp max hands down or kahr cm9 9mm maybe lcrx 357 have all 3 great summer carry options these are my picks.
One user of various ammo commented that the .380 round is a 'vicious little round'.
A good choice for your 642 is the DeSantis 'Superfly' holster, which can conceal the butt of the revolver.
OK, my 3 then would be (no warranties!): Smith & Wesson 43c, Kel-Tec PF-9, Beretta Pico. 🤔 `Oh, and only a Ninja can defeat a Ninja!´ 🤣
I carry two .22 mag NAA revolvers. 10 rounds of a capable caliber
Glock for me!
Always a great choice. Thanks for stopping by!
Three primary (solid) pocket carries, with three different cartridges. Why?
Thank you !
Maybe the PD 360 has to take the honour as the definitive pocket gun. 11 ounces of reliable, 357 magnum dispensing gob stoppers.. Hard to beat though no doubt a bit hard to shoot.
Change the S&W grips to Pachmayr and load 38+p instead of .357…That tames the recoil a lot.
I would love a p938... But man they aren't cheap....
Of the three, only the S&W 642 can actually be fired from inside the pocket...
Taurus 856
The problem with carrying a single action pistol cooked and locked even in a pocket holster is DANGEROUS!
Why? The trigger and hammer are covered by the holster. Seems safe to me.
@@rpbajb a lot of times with 1911 type pistols the safety comes off even though the trigger is covered they can still go off. If you feel safe with it good luck.
@@tonycolca2241 Should the thumb safety come off, the 1911 also has a grip safety. It's the safest pistol there is.
M206. affordable but it cooks
Hellcat all day only modification is the m carbo striker sleeve
LCP & PM9 for me.
