Hats off to your tech for the amazing restoration.
So. Cool. I am jealous! Like you said, perfect marriage of vintage and modern. And Black Les Paul Customs with chrome/nickel hardware always look awesome.
Awesome. There’s a lot to be said for beat up vintage guitars missing original parts. A while back I picked up a ‘66 P-bass that had been badly refinished with latex house paint, had two tuners replaced, replacement pick guard, etc, which meant I got it for a great price. I stripped off the latex paint and refinished it with nitro lacquer, put on a reissue pick guard, and now I have an awesome-playing vintage P-bass that looks like it should and sounds beautiful. And it cost me a small fraction of what a “correct” one would have. Here’s to bringing a beat up vintage back from the dead!

And then the fun begun! Just watching all this luthier work was worth spending every second of time on this. Especially in this video when he was doing the electric work it looked like an open heart surgery (I missed the beeping from the heart-lung machine 😁). I'm also not a big fan of aging, but in this case the treatment with vinegar fume was pretty cool, matching and inspiring. Hey, that axe is from 1974! Maybe some more "vintagy" knobs would match it even better. Watching and listening to the result is stunning! I think at projects like this the price aspect should be a secondary thing. Beautiful job, well done. Original project, with music efficiency in mind above all other considerations. And the tones are so broootal, beautiful cleans too. It's so gratifying to bring a guitar back from the grave. You saved a guitar man. Now it can continue to inspire. Isn't that the reason we all play. So if you think about it, restoring it benefits you and the guitar.
Love this build man. I did a very similar thing with a 1970s Dean flying V ages ago. Gave it Duncan Invaders, push-push coil taps, hipshot tuners, and a killswitch. Had that guitar for years till I shipped it to a friend as a gift for graduating music school and UPS 'lost' it.

Really great videos on this project! Since you mentioned wiring options check out freeway switches! They mount in the standard switch locations but give you twice the positions and you can’t tell by looking at it.
Nickel on black is a great look. Nice job on that. My Norlin’s were both under $400 back in the early 90’s. Mind you, that was about the same as $600 to $700 back then, but it was still a steal. Life was so much better when no one wanted a ‘70’s Gibson.

This tech is such a legend!! 🙌 respect
Thanks for the props!
Awesome job on this !!! Looks & sounds great Hunter !!
Stoked for you, bro! I'm waiting and saving for the day I get my '60s Standard Iced Tea. Seeing you and Wendell get excited makes me happy. Fuck yeah dudes! If I ever travel to Atlanta, definitely stopping in that store!
Such a dope restoration man, looks and sounds awesome!
Well done!! Way to breathe life back into her
Really great videos on this project!
