kyle rosen bake off famously was bought by channel 4 after being the BBC’s most popular show. There was much controversy over whether the BBC should’ve bidded higher, with them being funded by taxes basically. His joke is anyone can bid for bake-off, even a porn channel, if they have the money

At least it's better than Chris Addison, who never manages to button up *his* shirt before the show starts. :P
I just noticed that too. I'm not sure whether he was doing that deliberately for effect or not. It's like he usually buttons his jacket when he steps up to a make for a gig so he did it unconsciously here and then realised that it was pointless because he would be walking away in a few seconds. I'm going to have to watch some other episodes now, to see whether he does the same thing or not.

The "OMG those buildings are in the shape of a 4" joke is basically just Russel Howard's joke about "how did you get those hippos to swim in a circle" from many seasons ago.
Loads of jokes get repeated if you've watched the show long enough, usually by the less talented comedians 😂
Josh Widdecombe ended up using the hippo joke practically word-for-word.

So, the host, Dara presents a show called 'Go 8 Bit', a play on words of go ape s**t, it's about video games and is not romantic in any way as Ed is insinuating, hence it is unlikely a continuity announcer would say that.

Is a continuity announcer a strictly british thing or do other countries have them as well? Because in Germany we don't have anything like it (but I love it in Britain)
We have same type of comedy that is popular in Japan
He's talking about the guy that talks when a tv show ends to tell you whats coming next etc. never heard it outside UK
We used to have them in Swedish television too, but I haven't seen any in a few years now. Some channels still retain a voice though.

It’s practically entirely a British and Irish phenomenon nowadays - the few other countries that did have them, like ABC in the US, had dropped them by the mid 1990’s.
Ive studied the hugh species and seem to have discovered his pattern, walk to mike > false button attempt > joke > swing arms > walk away but look at topic sign > repeat.
