I was wondering why the celebrities were already seated and didn't walk out during their introductions as per usual. Then I remembered: Bill Cullen's disability.

Of all the great game show hosts over the year, Bill Cullen was my favorite.

I would have called her crazy for not letting Bill be the clue giver, but she did a great job. So close, a few more seconds they'd have gotten it.
that was painful and i listened to it without watching it and assuming bathroom chest was ok it was JUST out of time.
I actually think "Chest" beat the buzzer, I guess they didn't accept bathroom.

A "chest" could refer to your chest, a pirate chest, or even a cedar chest. If Bill Cullen said "medicine chest", and I emphasize the word "medicine," he would have won.

I think the key word was Medicine Chest and I don't think they would have given it to him even if he had beaten the buzzer

gameshowfreak2007 yes it would be. This would be between 1984-1986. Bill's final appearance was on $25,000 pyramid in June or July 1987 along with Betty White
My mom didn’t like him. She was on the original TPIR when he hosted it. He said something to her she didn’t like.

Well, no. He was introduced at the top of the show as host of The Joker’s Wild, so he was still working at the time.

I cant believe they didn't check the audio during the commercial break. I think he beat it or at least tied with the buzzer, and a tie would go to the contestant.

The category was medicine chest and in this case both words would have been needed. If he would have started with medicine and the buzzer sounded, then she would have won.

I think the issue was the judge considered ‘bathroom’ and ‘chest’ as two separate answers. It’s called a medicine chest, not a bathroom chest.
His answer of things in the bathroom by itself could be and probably was considered an answer by itself. His noticeable pause between bathroom and chest didn’t help the argument.

Nope, acceptable clue. You could get away with that kind of clue if a category reads “what you do to/on ..”. If the category read “Things you/that ..” and she gave a similar clue, then yeah it would be a buzz

Prescription in the Merriam Websters dictionary has multiple definitions of prescription. One of which is a prescribed medicine. In guessing she didn't want to say prescription in fear of it being buzzed. As for Bill, I'm thinking the judge heard the chest before the buzzer, but a bathroom chest may not contain medicine. More like towels, wash cloths, toiletries in a bathroom chest. Medicine chest contains medicine. There are many types of chests. So if Bill said medicine BUZZ chest, I believe they would have won.

Couple of thoughts here... Would they have accepted bathroom chest for medicine chest... That was not clear... Is the key word "chest" or "medicine chest"?? If they would have accepted bathroom chest for medicine chest... Then they should have given her the money... Because she did say bathroom before the buzzer... and to be honest... the word chest was on the buzzer, so she should have gotten it anyway... Tie goes to the runner... or in this case, the contestant... I think the judges usually got it right... Here I think they messed up....
March 24-28, 1986 here. DIck won at least two Winner's Circles on the Cullen era of nighttime $25K Pyramid, giving away $25K both times. He won $10K for a player on 11/25/2002 on Donnymid in the give chair.
