It still amazes me how many people have yet to hear of Lovebites since they are, in my opinion and that of many others, one of the premier metal bands on the planet right now... male or female. At the same time as being amazed, I am also slightly envious. I can still recall the thrill of excitement I experienced when encountering this band for the first time. Great reaction, really positive and enjoyable to watch. I’m a keen follower of the band and pay particular attention to a reaction from someone who is totally new to Lovebites. It’s fun watching the reaction because it’s always the same… open mouthed, wide eyed and, 99 times out of 100, a broad smile (plus gratuitous use of words like “holy shit”, “amazing” “WTF” and “badass”. You’re spot on in sussing that they’re good live. We have news for you, they’re BETTER live … yes, I know, sounds far fetched but in Lovebites case it’s actually true. And the best thing about Lovebites is they sing their song with English. I know music is a universal language, but being able to know and understand right away what they are singing is much much better experience imho.
There is loads with all female hard/rock bands from Japan. One of the first one is Show-Ya and they had 35 years anniversary last year.. their song Lovers is awesome! .Next with Lovebiets: When Destinies Align MV for epic guitar solos, Glory to the World MV for awesome voice and drumming, a song from the band to their fans in this dark times of pandemic. After discovering them and listening to their entire discography, which encompasses several styles of metal, heavy, power, and thrash metal, I have deduced that there is no band on earth male or female playing in this musical sphere that surpasses their talent, either past or present. The discovery at your level has only just begun. You want to see a live track, start with "Holy war", a classic in their discography. And live there are many tracks that will turn your brain. To name a few "The hammer of wrath", "Scream for me", "Thunder vengeance" the opening track of their 2020 concert. I wish you a good trip and I am sure that according to your musical vibration you will join "the wolfpack" those who have been musically bitten, the fans of this band.
The cool thing about Japan is that women have been kicking ass in every heavy genre since the late 70s, and in metal specifically since the early 80s. Lovebites are one of the latest (and quite possibly the best), but there were many before them. There were a good two dozen all-female heavy metal bands in Japan just in the 80s alone. Mary's Blood are another one of the best, but unfortunately their best material's not on youtube. The newer bands have figured out how to use social media to promote themselves, so they're getting most of the attention. About time someone is.

Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They have themselves said in interviews that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background: They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuke”); they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They have only been around for just shy of 5 years. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") You spoke of hearing only one singer. Asami is the primary vocalist, especially in their studio stuff, but Midori, Miyako, and Miho all sing backing vocals during certain songs. One of the best examples of that is the live version of "Empty Daydream," a somewhat slower song for them where Miho, the bass guitarist, and Miyako, the brunette guitarist, both sing significant and lovely backing vocals. Congratulation on finding the world great rock/metal band on the planet, these beautiful five ladies can and will put any other bands then and now to shame and make them look and feel like amateurs. 4 EP's and 3 albums and several live DVD's all freaking amazing every song is a hit and they never disappoint or fall short of who they are as do many bands veering from the rock scene into pop to gain an audience, not Lovebites they are true to what they put out rock and metal in its true form. It’s fun watching the reaction because it’s always the same… open mouthed, wide eyed and, 99 times out of 100, a broad smile (plus gratuitous use of words like “holy shit”, “amazing” “WTF” and “badass”. You’re spot on in sussing that they’re good live. We have news for you, they’re BETTER live … yes, I know, sounds far fetched but in Lovebites case it’s actually true. Holy war is already overplayed try suggesting so many of their other songs first, I have noticed many reactors only follow the stupid algorithm for popularity and it is up to us to strain the fake reactors out of the way.

And don't forget the subtitles in English if You want. Then go to live videos from Zepp Diver Tokyo. Start with Holy war, Raise some Hell and the the Swan song with the etude.... and so on....

After discovering them and listening to their entire discography, which encompasses several styles of metal, heavy, power, and thrash metal, I have deduced that there is no band on earth male or female playing in this musical sphere that surpasses their talent, either past or present. The discovery at your level has only just begun. You want to see a live track, start with "Holy war", a classic in their discography. And live there are many tracks that will turn your brain. To name a few "The hammer of wrath", "Scream for me", "Thunder vengeance" the opening track of their 2020 concert. The cool thing about Japan is that women have been kicking ass in every heavy genre since the late 70s, and in metal specifically since the early 80s. Lovebites are one of the latest (and quite possibly the best), but there were many before them. There were a good two dozen all-female heavy metal bands in Japan just in the 80s alone. Mary's Blood are another one of the best, but unfortunately their best material's not on youtube. The newer bands have figured out how to use social media to promote themselves, so they're getting most of the attention. About time someone is.

Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They have themselves said in interviews that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background:
They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuke”); they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics.
They have only been around for just shy of 5 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level.
This is one of their most recent posts, and their first Anime track. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist, and some of their songs feature her on the piano.

You spoke of hearing only one singer. Asami is the primary vocalist, especially in their studio stuff, but Midori, Miyako, and Miho all sing backing vocals during certain songs. One of the best examples of that is the live version of "Empty Daydream," a somewhat slower song for them where Miho, the bass guitarist, and Miyako, the brunette guitarist, both sing significant and lovely backing vocals. Congratulation on finding the world great rock/metal band on the planet, these beautiful five ladies can and will put any other bands then and now to shame and make them look and feel like amateurs. 4 EP's and 3 albums and several live DVD's all freaking amazing every song is a hit and they never disappoint or fall short of who they are as do many bands veering from the rock scene into pop to gain an audience, not Lovebites they are true to what they put out rock and metal in its true form. Many will try to get to check out Holy War, but I think it is already overplayed and if you want to the extent of the talent I strongly suggest three songs Break The Wall, Hammer of Wrath, and Edge of the World.

The intro and then the transitions should just be something as a composer you truly enjoy. LIVE is truly the only way to experience these amazing musicians and truly see just how flawless and into perfection they are. All female bands in Japan have been around since the 1980's with Show-Ya but this band is one of the best ever to perform and be assembled and when you look at the talent in many of those other bands it is amazing.

Saw your reaction yesterday for Nightwish which I loved. Then I saw you were doing Lovebites today and I was hoping you would like them too. At the moment they are probably my two favourite bands so as far as I'm concerned you have impeccable musical taste. For Lovebites I would recommend Holy War next.

The metal community seems to be very embracing of women in bands, I think. Not everyone, of course, there are always "those people", but... Anyway, great bands such as this and Band-Maid, Crypt, Nervosa, Burning Witches, Nemophila (brand new!) and many others kick some serious ass.
