A Dinosaur riding on a larger dinosaur. What is not to like?
Not too dissimilar from us riding horses. A mammal riding another, bigger mammal
Truest words spoken
How bout a dinosaur riding a larger dinosaur with space lasers. Welcome to the Lizardmen
A dinosaur that's basically a giant tank, complete with lazy cannon.
xD I would be okay riding a silver back gorilla
I love how the lizardmen are exactly what the Emperor of mankind wishes Humans were. Extremely loyal servants that don't need chaos to live. The fact that no lizardman had ever fallen to chaos is truly astounding!!!
Astounding? No, it is just as expected warm blood.
Hehe@@MusMasi , guess you're right
Warhammer 40k fans try not to insert themselves/mention emperor of mankind IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGE
The main thing with Lizardmen is that they're basically biological androids, think clone troopers from Star Wars. They in essence don't have an ego to exploit, but are not devoid of personality for the most part.
@@oiaeyu I am a Warhammer Fantasy fan first, thank you very much.
And I wanted to say a very long time ago, and finally got the chance when the video came up.
The fools call them Lizardmen the wise call them Defenders of the World
until they flew away in their rocket pyramid and left everyone behind.
Lucky the Lizardmen don’t like to crusade or else they’d threaten all other civilizations. Such an OP and unique faction.
All it takes is one plaque that states that they must do it and it will happen
@@BarryAllen__1A23 And i would not be surprise for that
Skinks are heartbreakingly adorable. I always feel bad having to fight them playing as other races, and even sending them to battle playing as the Children of the Old Ones. If I were Marco Colombo I probably would get myself killed the second I entered the city because I'd pet the skinks like a pet gecko.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I can't play any other faction in Lustria except for the Lizardmen as I can't bring myself to do my favourites any harm
I only hire chameleon skinks for this reason. They rarely ever die and kick serious ass
gecko will kill you by latching on to your neck.
By far my favorite faction. Meso American culture fits them so well.
The end result of a madman turning people into dinosaurs instead of curing cancer.
But he doesn't want to cure cancer. He wants to turn people into dinosaurs.
Thank you for reminding me of this meme. But I think lizardmen were made from wild reptiles and not people lol
...I suddenly feel motivated to touch that box of Seraphon again.
Lizardmen FTW, easily the coolest thing about the Warhammer World.
I love the lizardmen. Fav factions since Warhammer 2.
My favorite faction are the dwarfs
My favorite is bretonia
One has to respect a race of dinosaur riding carnivore giant lizards. Because they are not giving much other option.
They also sound like the kind of people that would worship Godzilla as a god if they knew of him.
I'm thinking. This kind of races and factions would be a great way to introduce universes that have a lot of details in regards to a expansive lore, but not much to explore in regards to a linear narrative or story. Or at least, not yet. Like the world of Runeterra, for example.
I don't think they'd worship Godzilla, I think they'd ride him. But there is a creature called a Thunder Lizard in the lore that was said to be so large and deadly it was akin to a natural disaster and the Lizards would basically flee.
Also, for Kaiju fans;
"a Thunder Lizard was observed locked in deadly combat with some form of sea monster that had risen from the depths and come inland from the Tarantula Coast. The combat between the two creatures lasted an entire cycle of the moons, and destroyed vast swathes of the jungle"
Godzilla would probably be an avatar of the Old Ones.
Finally, a Warhammer fantasy video that isn't End Times crap!
😂
This is the kind of stuff I've been really wanting to see the K&G and W&W channels start doing again.
It may not be really in depth videos about their armies, but it's certainly better than nothing.
The in-depth roster-review video is in progress already. Stay tuned.
@@michaelmerc6057
Really? Awesome!
That and anything that isnt the End Times garbage is awesome.
Seriously there’s so much good stuff in Fantasy but covering the End Times was a mistake. Its one of the worst stories GW has ever shat out, and that’s saying something; Dont get me wrong, W&W did an amazing job covering the story and battles, but no matter how much you polish a pile of shit, shit is still shit
@@Lalasquad360
Yeah, I mostly agree with you.
I mean, there were some awesome moments in it here and there, but most of it was stupidly rushed nonsense which was a terrible transition to AoS.
I mean, if the End Times was handled better, people might've loved AoS right off the bat.
@@chubbyninja89 yeah Im hoping they cover the actual good stuff like the Elf Civil war, with Malekith vs Tyrion and Telics,
Or even Mortkin’s chaos invasion of Ostland and Nordlan which almost spiraled into him becoming Everchosen.
Hell if you wanna get really meaty, the War of Vengeance between the Dwarves and Elves.
Fun facts. Dragons, dragon ogres, sky titans, fimir, and many other animal races predate Old Ones’ arrival to the Warhammer world in -10 000 IC (before Sigmar became emperor). Be’lakor and count Drakenheft were both human-ish men of their tribes that either became first daemon prince or necromancer/ghosts.
Other than that, it’s hinted that the Old Ones did not create elves, dwarves or even humans, only took primitive proto sapients races of the world and gave them magic, technology, and evolved them quickly.
First were supposedly the elves, who Old Ones made beautiful, long lived, not immortal, average elf in Warhammer fantasy lives for 1-2 thousand years, and they supposedly already had their gods/pantheon but GW doesn’t tell much. The elves got spellcasting from the old ones as well but no other forms of magic.
The government made by Old Ones for the elves was based on Everqueen ruling their entire race, with position of king being created after the Great Catastrophy.
But elves were weak and easy to corrupt, so Old Ones then gave technology and magic to dwarves, making them tougher, less corruptible, but not as long lived, as its rare for a dwarf to live past 1000 years. The oldest dwarf ever I believe was 1200 years old. Dwarf leaders possibly became the 3 wisest/best dwarves that later became dwarf 3 main gods Grimnir, Grungni, and their shared wife Shallaya whose children started their own kingdoms, with Snorri Whitebeard becoming high king of all dwarves after the Great Catastrophy and departure of dwarf gods.
Dwarfs got rune magic from the old ones but no spellcasting for some reason.
For some reason later on Old Ones also gave humans on Albion knowledge of oghm stones and magical symbols used by Druids but little is known beside that, and also no knowledge of rune or spell magic.
Somewhere between all that they also apparently had fingers in evolving ogres, fighting war with, dragons, giants, other native monsters like fregata spiders, and orks whose spores they carried on their ships and failed to destroy before the Polar Gates broke.
Chaos/raw warp also causes them pain and also hurt Slann but not as much. The gates, vortex, temple and oghm stones create winds of magic, sorta cleaning the raw magic into different, clean winds or energy that magicians use.
Ahh nice to see my favourite race getting covered honestly I wish the Lizardmen got adapted into 40K feels like such a waste now same with the Skaven, great video hope you have a great day
I prefer the settings having very varied rosters, in terms of races. It gives them their charming uniqueness, even though they are overall quite similar
Calling the Lizadmen the “oldest race in existence” is a bit controversial.
There were many intelligent races to inhabit the Warhammer World, long before the arrival of the Old Ones.
The Dragons, the Dragon Ogres, the Fimir, the Skytitans, the Tregara…
I was under the impression that the Sky Titans were a post-Lizardman product of the Old Ones
From the Warhammer Fantasy Wiki:
“Long before the Old Ones came to the Known World, the Skytitans lived in the mountain ranges, alongside the Dragon Ogres who inhabited the caves.”
You might be confusing them with the Ogres…
Giants are essentially de evolved sky titans
BRISTOL ORIENTED KLUB
Marco Colombo. LOL
An interesting combination of the two greatest explorers in history.
My thoughts exactly, much creativity many wows
@@tobago3679 This is a relic of the time when Warhammer was made as a joke and for fun, and not for a cult of bloodthirsty followers. Inquisitor Obiwan Sherlock Clousseau confirms.
*"we were the first, and we will be the last"*
When i first opened warhammer 2 i saw the opening for the lizard men faction and was sold instantly. They're awesome and im glad ive gotten to know more about them lorewise. Cant wait to see more videos on this universe!
lizardmen seem extremely loyal , i remember in a episode when capt juan luc picard of the star ship enterprise landed in the old world to mingle with the natives
hrmm...unless they changed the lore at some point, saurus warriors used to be utterly disciplined and cold blooded, and never suffered from any kind of predatory rage or frenzy in combat. In fact, they had the best leadership rolls in the game.
They did, where before the saurus were essentially fleshy automatons who either fought absolutely disciplined with leadership in place or essentially shut down and idled aimlessly without it they are now portrayed as, well dinosaurs, with their primal reptile brains reigned in by their officers.
One notable detail ommited here is Sotek not being an old one but a new deity (arriving basically simultaneously with sjgmar).
Ah, a fellow Dinosaur of culture.
MOAR faction exploration like this please!
The descriptions says it's gonna be a season of factions explorations.👍
@@n0n4me77
What fraction do you want to see?
@@Ace-cr9qt All of them.
This was great! Could your next video be about which lizardmen care for the which specific beasts, lizardmen culture (If they have any), also perhaps their age cycles or something to that effect. If their isn't that much material, that's okay. I just like to learn more about these guys is all.
Thanks for keeping this series going! Warhammer has some of the richest lore of any RPG.
Favorite race. Happy I found this video.
What's not to like they are dinosaurs that can use magic and ride other dinos 🦖😮
Awesome vid! cant wait to see you cover more of the warhammer fantasy races! Would love to see you do a series covering the 18 primarchs and their legions in detail as they have alot of depth and lore to discuss.
The Aztec dinosaurs, lizards, frogs, and reptile people like.
NOW WE NEED MORE! More lore on the other races like the mummies and the vamps
Hey, my boy Parathiax!!! A chameleon skink who survived and escaped the warp. AoS Lizardmen are also pretty damn cool. Basically the only race to survive by flying off in their pyramids, lol. It’s hinting that AoS was the plan all along, somehow.
Yes. This is even hinted at in the new Old World rulebook.
@@Vasily_Kotickovitch Oh ok, how so?
It wasn't, GW is just using new lore to try and justify how badly they handled the setting instead of accepting they messed up.
My most loved race. Thank you for video.
Just as I felt you will post, yesterday morning I started a Gor Rok campaign.
Guys try making a video about the kingdoms of Ind, the idea of a mixture of beastmen and humans living together is kinda intriguing.
Looking forward to the rest of this series. Starting with the end times was a baffling choice even though the series its self was quite well done.
Wait, teleporting? Oh wow, man, if only the geomantic web mechanic in total warhammer gave us that besides boosting commandments, you know those things that don't really save or break a battle/short local campaign?
The Lizardman however are still my favorite, good durability, good roster, Temple guards a top favorite, Artillery are nasty no matter the range, sure the faction lacks some dedicated range infantry (The skinks with javelins do not count since they last a whole 2 seconds.)
Their roster is good even if I want like skinks with spears and ground skink cavalry.
Also in total warhammer, they are hilarious, so after every battle, their replenish option is them eating teh enemy, or their own, or both, however, this specific detail means some of their beasts do not benefit because the beasts are herbivores.
But their ranged options are still insane like the salamanders and chameleon skinks
Your script, sound, arts, editing all is perfect on its own. Also skinks are quite cute
Love you continuing ur coverage of Warhammer Fantasy! I loved the End Times series so keep up the great work!
Appreciated, special props for old ones design. For their 40k counterpart, their true appearance was never shown. There were 2 old theories about who they ended up "devolving" into, at least those who supposedly survived the war in heaven - the slann(not sure if they are still canon at this point), and the snotlings(they are still canon afaik, as they are vital part of ork society still).
Please do the High Elves next!
Basically the Old Ones were playing Spore.
Excellent illustrations and animations, great job. Lizardmen are the best!
Hell yeah, brother.
I'm down for this series
Fantastic work in animation and narration.
Very good Video, love listening to these while playing Total War. When is the next 40K video?
Lustria and all the Lizardman lore makes me remember some of the first descriptions of the Amazonas by Portuguese explorers. Like I was reading a book of History when I was younger in Portuguese schools. Great day this Sunday is. Enjoy it.
The first recordings of American jungles are Spanish not portuguese.
@Alejojojo6 Hm, I said the first description by the Portuguese. I didn't said the first European description. What is your point here?
@Alejojojo6 Neither I said the first description ever of the Amazonia. I believe there were some done by the native Americans before the Portuguese or spanish. I trully don't get your point.
@Alejojojo6 But, to clarify you, the first description of the Amazonia was made by an Italian priest that worked for the spanish that sold the descriptions to Portugal. Is common knowledge, at least where I came from. Not being nationalist here, just facts.
Good thing it's not the End Times. Seriously, when they said that Maleketh was really the Phoenix King, he just wasn't roasted enough....I flipped a table.
Spared no expense!
Amazing video on my favorite faction :)
Interesting civilization
red sonja....kull......more conan
Mesoamerican Lizardmen had me sold on warhammer fantasy.
But boy have they butchered them in Age of Sigma.
Miss the old Lizardman from the OG fantasy.
This video was informative as hell
Dinosaurs with culture? Sounds like the Senate.
Great video!
This is beauties presented thank you so much ♥️
Malazan please ❤❤
Kroxigors from Age of Sigmar (Seraphon) are much more cunning and honored.
(Even in the Old World, judging by the drawings that show them with great intelligence as well as great strength, just like Nakai)
MORE LIZARDMEN LORE, I BEG THY
Hell yeah!! more warhammer fantasy!!
Confirmed: the Slann helped create the Chaos Penguins and the Drop Bears!
I hope this race gets included in the next update of the Old Realms Warhammer mod
The next update will add the Woods Elves. And while they might add a weapon or some reference to the lizardmen, there will only be factions from the old world.
@@n0n4me77 I guess that makes sense the map can only be so big and there's a limit to the number of scenes troop roster and combat animations
Yes please more warhammer but no end times
What are your thoughts on doing Narnia in the possible future?
Gods, I absolutely LOATHE the fat toads.
God I love this channel
Do the old ones look like they do here because of that one eldar exodite stone slab carvings?
Head looks quite similar. Way better than frogpeople
Old Ones look great!
Awesome!
commenting for malazan again ill never stop
The title made me thibk this was a pancreasnowork vid
No mention of the actual dinosaurs in lustria?
Just 959 years until I get promoted to an Oldblood!
Lizardmen are the best race, I’ll die on that hill
It's a bit weird to come out with this, since Lizardmen aren't in the new TOW release for Warhammer.
However, I don't mind one bit...
The Redguards of Hammerfell
Do you use Wonderdraft to make your maps, if so what symbol packs do you use for trees mountains etc?
Great
Cool!
My favourite race !
Isn’t lord krok a first span slann?
Glad that the end times didn't end looking at the lore of Warhammer much like it dose for everything else great video
Best faction by far
I cant see why you wouldnt draw the old ones as toadlike similar to the slann, thats what they looked like according to lore
Also the Slann arent reptiles they are amphibians like toads.
Quite liked the artwork myself. Never seen old ones portrayed that way
can we get a "skink" counter? no idea how you got devon to say it so often and so soberly.
The funny reality of these creatures, would be that with scales so tough, there would be a lot of money and incentive to hunt and kill them to make armor out of them lol
The thing is, the danger and cost of getting to where they live, surviving long enough to find them, actually maneging to kill enough of them, and surviving the way back to sell the armor is so high the incentive to do so would be basically null. Specially when there's dwarven made armors that can be more powerful and are generally more accessicible.
Goodluck exploring deeper in lustria tho.
