    I went to the Toyota Automobile Museum. I also recommend visiting the Toyota Auto Showroom next to Nagoya station. I got to see the new Alphard! I hope to go to the Kaikan museum next time!

    I am a Toyota fan for sure I own a 2010 4 Runner 4 wdr has only 156,000 miles never repair issues, a 2017 Sienna, and in the past a 1985- 1992 - 1996 Landcruiser with under 200,000 miles,
    no high repair issues and sold them after years of use for what I paid for them. A great investment and quality that American cars cannot compare, thanks Toyota

    I used to think of Toyotas as boring junk for people 3 days away from the grave. Then along came Akio Toyoda with one mission: "No more boring cars". I now own a GR Yaris and GR Morizo Corolla (with the licence plate AKIO), and a Hilux Pick up. I also bought a second GR Yaris. One man's passion changed my motoring life. Thank you Akio from the bottom of my heart.

    Kaizen is usually translated as “continuous improvement”. Most other auto companies still have the traditional coercive command-and-control mechanistic managers focused on career advancement and customer matters occasionally intrude on their important activities. They always meet the production numbers. The Toyota Production System and associated systems for Management and Product Development focus on three things: Quality, Scientific Method, Lean Living Systems. The lean, living systems manager knows that his employees have the most domain knowledge. They are best suited to fixing problems. The manger coaches his workers on the scientific method of problem solving (Observation, Classification, Hypothesis, Testing in a nutshell). He does not issue orders to solve problems. When a problem arises, genchi genbutsu (go to the gemba (place where work is performed)) and investigate the actual thing. Written reports, read at his desk, are indirect evidence that is far less valuable. Responsibility implies authority. His workers directly deliver customer value. His job is to give them everything they need to do their job. Quality is conformance to specification (low variation) and customer value (satisfaction). Since tasks are done repetitively, you should get better at them over time. Correct, high customer value products should be produced as the normal way of business. Temporary fixes to problems are valuable, however problems should be diagnosed to the root cause and fixed forever. Standard work, A3 reports and extensive written documentation ensure institutional knowledge. The environment is a living, changing system and you need to adapt to it or go extinct. The Toyota employee continually asks “Does this add customer value?”

    Thank you David. Out of interest, I'd be interested in your comments regarding other Japanese car manufacturers (made in Japan). Is it a Toyota thing or is this common across Subaru, Mazda etc?

    The dealers have one value; profits. Last year my dealer was adding $11,000 to Tacoma MSRP. No thanks.

    David, I have a question. Toyota and Honda have made large-scale investments in hybrid vehicle technology for many years. A Chinese automaker called LiXiang has developed so-called extended-range vehicles, which use mediocre, cheap engines to generate electricity for the batteries inside the vehicles, and drive the vehicles on electric motors. The car can be refueled and charged, bypassing the hybrid patents of Toyota and Honda, what do you think of this kind of product? If this kind of product can perfectly bypass the patent barriers of hybrid and high-efficiency engines, and meet the needs of environmental protection, why would Toyota And Honda didn't carry out large-scale promotion at the beginning?     You guys talk a big game, but Toyota can’t supply us with a second key for our new vehicle after six months of ownership. A simple second key that I’m sure we’ve paid for. What the hell?

    Unfortunately my quest for a 2023 Solar Octane Tacoma Pro has resulted in having to settle MGM….MSRP in Canada is 60k, so that equates to about 45.5kUS$. What may be a little known fact is that the Canadian compared to US market trucks are not exact. Toyota adds or leaves things off certain models. In the case of the 2023 Canadian Pro, the map decal & rear parking sensor not incl. Not sure what else. Also can’t get an OffRoad manual transmission double cab in Canada. You can however get an Access Cab manual but not with the Premium package features such as a moon roof. Goofy, frustrating and both Toyota Canada/Toyota USA should get their poop in a group regarding these limitations…..but they seem to have their heads in the sand with regards to this. Toyota Canada cry’s…but the US trucks aren’t up to Canadian/Transport Canada’s Safety Specs…..when in fact any US truck is welcome to be imported into Canada as long as it has Daytime Running Lights. Fact. The trucks are pretty much exactly the same except how “those people”(Toyota) are flossing the respective countries customers.

    Can you do a video on the new Buick Envista and do the same quality tests you did in the Encore GX video (paint measuring device, etc.)? It would be interesting to see how Buick cut costs for the Envista vs Encore GX.
