- How to install an aftermarket steering wheel and quick release on a 1993 Lexus SC300. The hub adapter, quick release and steering wheel are all NRG products. The install was relatively easy aside from fabrication of my own contact pin to transfer the connection for the horn. The online installation suggests using a hairpin but my garage was fresh out of those so I had to do some digging. I chopped up a paint can, cleaned it up and it worked great! I've done a bit of research online if NRG steering wheels were any good. Many of the forums shunned the idea and quickly advised to spend quadruple the amount for a Nardi or Momo wheel. Even though reading so, I had doubts that an american company would sell such shameful products. So I took the risk and bought one anyway and I'm happy I did. The wheel is super sturdy and has the looks to go with it!

loving the build man keep it up
Yo man the Laxus is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see the finished product. Pretty sick decal design too. That gold is killer.
mrshawn16 Thanks dude, I can't either!
really enjoying the series. im saving for an sc300 here soon myself and taking it to the track. Keep up the build!!
Hell yea dude! You wont be saving long, these cars are dirt cheap.
did you get one????
i was trying to install nrg hub on my is250 and it wouldn't fit with the clock spring on and i thought that it couldn't be removed but after watching this video i'm sure it will work fine doing it the same way you did 👍🏽
holy shit man you steering wheel look awesome!
Sloww Thanks! I've been waiting awhile to buy this. It was either between this one or the gold Nardi, but I didn't like the wood-grain on it.
Don't suppose you have the link for the ngr hub do you?
If you remove the clock spring wouldn't that mean that you have to turn your blinkers off yourself after each turn ?
Nice
so did you steering wheel come off?? i also have the NRG hub and want to remove that safety .. :D
love the GOLD!!!!
Thanks man, its quite flashy
+M. Skoops BRUH I'm going for the same gold touch on a lot of things lol in my accord.
Dooooooopeeeeee!
Thats the first thing i did when i got my steering wheel set up, remove that string from the quick release
Heya thanks for a new update! I liked your page on facebook and follow you on twitter! I would love to rep one of those!
Filthy Media Check your email :)
Hi, I have a question with my hub. What if my hub doesn't have the two wires for the horn? How would I hook that up ?
Sorry for the late reply, I didnt see the notification. Anyhow, is it an nrg hub? The only option I can think of is to install a momentary switch somewhere not on the wheel. Hope you get it workin!
That's sweet man. Let me get one of those decals when is see you soon. Please
For sure!
When you installed your harness bar you said it must be a universal one because of all the included hardware., do many cars share the same width? Thinking about buying one for my celica, but they don't make one specific for the 91., and I saw a universal just like yours.
xRam yes' many cars do share similar width's. So best bet for you is to measure the distance from each seat belt mount on the b-pillars to find what size you need to look for.
M. Skoops Thanks!, that's what I figured, just wanted to make sure.
did you dye your interior? i have the old man tan interior i would love to get rid of
yea they are dyed, check my crappy earlier episodes.
Good video.
Do you have any videos on doing your brakes or wheel hubs?
+Damon Basaraba Thanks! Nothing on brakes yet but they're definitely on the to-do list.
+M. Skoops I'm doing the front wheel hubs and brakes all around on my '91 soarer 1jzgte lol lots of things I come here to see how it's done.
+Damon Basaraba Nice! Did you choose an aftermarket setup?
+M. Skoops no just oem for now. I want to redo bodywork and interior before mods.
Does anybody know what happened to him?
will the horn work without saudering that wire??
you don't have to solder but the connection from the wire to the metal surface on the back of the hub has to be made. An alternative way is to install a momentary switch off that wire with an added ground and install it elsewhere.
Does your automatic tilt still work? Also it looks as if you have a cover on top of your ashtray where can i buy that?
yes, the auto tilt is still funtional. As for the ash tray, it was stock so i guess try ebay or junk yards
+M. Skoops not the ashtray. i see that where the stereo goes you have a cover there instead. is that covering a double din stereo? I have one and that looks perfect to put to hide my double din when i leave my car parked somewhere.
+julio cruz oh that is a radio delete panel i made out of a double din mounting kit
+M. Skoops would you happen to anywhere i can get one?
+julio cruz i bought the mantra double din kit off ebay then used fiberglass and bondo to fill the void
Yo man do you have any decals left? those are sick??
Hit me up on the facebook page and I can hook you up in a few weeks, out of town atm^^
Yeah man that's tight, what's your facebook page link yo?

Messaged you bro, thanks again for the reply. Sick guy
0:57...AKA, You're playing with death. No steering wheel airbag... I can do without this mod.
Kiimmel Sirrah lol imagine growing up before 95 I mean every single day just playing with death...it was like the god damn plague
this is supposed to be done along side a harness and harness bar, which would in turn mitigate the need of a front airbag, however some people don't do this and that's on them
I need to get someone to do this for me but don't know anyone
Try craigslist, some performance accessories shops post there and sometimes offer installation services.
Should I buy a sc300
Have you driven one yet?
M. Skoops Yea my best friend had one with a 1jz like yours but his was a single turbo making 650hp on e85 it was built in another friends shop it was alot of fun but he had to sell it because he got in alot of trouble with it I miss spining out at 120 mph.
M. Skoops We are thinking miatas or more sc300s
Thats a tough one, the miata community is pretty large and well recognized on the track. I'd like to see more people tuning sc300's to influence more demand for aftermarket support. I think it's a great car but that's only mine and other sc owner's opinion.
Well thanks for responding and I love your videos keep up the great work.
