I am surprised it did all that damage, but one will survive... I protect mine so it last as long as possible. I have a 94 and i get 60 miles plus, The 3 cylinder even peels tires, with the 5 speed, it really moves through the tight gears, but the best thing this car has its the ability to roll. I drive whenever possible in the 5th gear, up the hills with and roll the hills in neutral.
Sweet! i drove a Hungary -made swift like that with 1.0l / 3 cyl. at 155kmph (top speed) it felt very controllable , but my legs are shaking after this clip.
We had one (well not Geo Metro, but the Suzuki Swift version; the sedan one) when I was a kid. One day we had TWO crashes: a Mini Morris slammed the brakes in front of as, and we hit that small piece of car with ~15km/h maximum, and the Swift got shorter by a good 15 centimeters :D :D Half an hour later, somebody slammed into us while we were waiting at the red light. Luckily my father has foreseen it, so he put the car in neutral. As a result of this, there was barely any damage on the back of the car. Oh, fun days
Not as bad as you think. THis is the first(worst) series, and they're still not breaking bones. Newer (after 1997) models have "bazooka bars" that stabilize the instrument panel, plus you got airbags, which is also a plus. Geo Metros were the first subcompact cars to pass side impact too.
we (as in my family of four) used to drive one as the family car, would drive it from oregon to cali over the mountain passes the gas mileage made it worth it
There Great cars, just watch for the EGR, (Exhaust gas recirculation valve) keep it cleaned so it doesn't build up with carbon and burn out the exhaust valve, take it off and clean it with a wire brush and carb clean every once and a while and it will be fine.
Used to own one just like this. Damn glad i sold it now that I saw a video like this. I mean it looks like the entire frame bent. How were car that were this dangerous even sold in america?
@VgAce135 these little cars don't have a frame, it's a unibody. even if it did have a frame, it probably wouldn't have helped much haha. everybody gave me crap for driving one. i have a 92 metro convertible now, and it is kinda scary to think about getting in an accident :/
@Toni7859 I hate to hear that man... I used to own a 1992 Geo Metro. It scared me to drive it especially on highways. I got rid of it back in 2007 and got a 2002 Focus ZX3. Still a small car but much safer.
I hope my 1999 Civic Coupe can fare better! It has strong front crash ratings but only a 2 or 3 star side crash rating, and that's with the old crash standards. The new crash standards are tougher, like what happens if the car hits a telephone pole.. female occupants..
My father drove us around in these for years as children between five and twelve. Needless to say he's an idiot as we could have died very easily. I know all of you in the comments say " well still great gas mileage." You won't be saying that when your dead. Was that fuel mileage really worth it in the end.
This has to be the worst result in a full frontal crash test I've ever seen. And an offset test it would fold like a tin can no doubt. That front passenger seat collapsed!
a good race car builder could construct a nice cage system for this car. it still gets better mpg than any hybrid on the market.

It's a 67km/h full-width crash test... Imagine the same with 40% overlap.
I bet it would be a death trap in an off-center crash!
It would crush like a beer can
I have one, love this little car but man I would not want to get in a accident with it.
I have one too, makes me want to wear a motorcycle helmet when I drive lol
Ian Above better off installing a roll cage
Same as my golf Mk2 xD

Bracci that sounds like a really bad day.
I actually expected worse
Imagine it in an offset crash, which is more common (and why they test them that way, now). 😬
the 1989-2004 Suzuki Swift was assembled in
Hamamatsu, Japan
Kosai, Japan
Esztergom, Hungary

Drive a geo? Make it look like a rally car so you don't feel stupid wearing your helmet.
lynsie83 my dad calls his his 'hot rod geo car'
blew up the engine passing a semi a few years ago though
@@mothra__13 Yeah they don't like 5000rpm for more than a minute or two
the 1989-1994 Geo Metro was assembled in
Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada
dang... thats going to leave a mark..

the gas mileage made it worth it
Put your seats as far back as possible, also consider getting the seat belt mount being put farther back so it has less slack.
Mr.Dummy is gonna feel that in the morning
Just don't get into an accident and you'll be alright
what do the femur numbers above mean?
airbags?

holy shit...
I have the 92 Holden Barina version of this
Those cars are way better quality, so don't worry

Dammit will never race my GTi again :(
id like to see the offset...
@otacon451
10,000 means there is a break in the bone.

danwat1234 obviously the civic you have got a good rating at this speed in an offset which us more challenging
FirstWorldProblem!
Whiplash! Really not that bad.
If it had airbags this would be reasonably safe
here's a tip guys, don't crash if you drive this lol.

my dad is trying to get me and my 15 yr old brother to drive these as our first car, I think it's a horrible idea considering how unsafe they are.
LoserPunkQueen your dad is smart - will save tons of $$$ on gas
also gives you incentive to drive not like a maniac
I hope you made it through ok?
how many stars? :)
None.
Newgenerationisbg :)
Rip car parts
this is like 42 mph not 30

Louis Reed wasn't that an offset not a full width
67,2 kmh.
Old way of thinking, old car, old protection systems...
Not bad 🤣
I have the same(hungarian Suzuki Swift 1998,5 doors).
dead...
No air bag lol
Desi Lee This car is from 1993 and non other cars from 1993 doesn’t have airbags
@@roadykim1603 A rather stupid comment. Look up 1993 then get back to us🤡
the test result: fail
ha my sister has that car. oh she dead
This car is very bad just like the Dodge Magnum in Rigs of Rods (RoR)
