This is one dish really close to my heart, I was 7 years old when my father first introduced me to Chicken Rezala and tandoori Roti at a restaurant in Lalbazar, Shahi Darbar (now closed). This one dish is my all time favourite and truly emotional for me. Thank you for bringing those memories back. Honestly there really quite few places in Kolkata that gets this dish right.

Amazing dish. Many restaurants near my home in Kolkata also add makhane at the very end. Also the consistency of the gravy is much thinner. It's supposed to be a thin light but flavoured soup-gravy which you dip and eat with roomali rooti.
It is my son's favourite dish. Once in a week I have to cook. I generally add black pepper whole as a phoron and fry whole red chilli and take them out and keep aside for garnish. We prefer to eat rezala with tandoori roti. I often eat only gravy of rezala with biriyani. It's my personal choice. Thank you chef sharing this recipe. We are bengali...khub bhalo laglo.🙏

Your rezala recipe reminded me of my childhood. My mom made beautiful rezala witn some twists. She used to cut potato in roundells, fry them and add them.on top after the rezala was made. Also she used to give an extra tadka of black pepper and cardamom at the end!!

I was looking for a good chicken rezala recipe for a long time but was not convinced with the ones available in UA-cam.i had even typed chicken rezala Ranveer Brar... finally i got what i was looking for after so many days.. thankyou Chef
I made this on a weekend. I used chicken leg and bone pieces. Except saffron, I used every ingredient chef mentions. Brownie points for the addition of Kewra essence. it just elevates the dish. This tasted just like what you would get in a restaurant. My gravy came out thicker than what a normal Rezala would have in Bengal.

I tried this dish today..to take care of the raw (kachha) taste of posto, i light roasted posto, dessicated coconut and cashews before wet grinding them..this gives a subtle nutty taste which blends well with the kewra..the final result was awesome 👌👌

Rezala is a curry which I could never master. I have tried this preparation from the hands of my aunt, some elder sisters as well but I could never copy them. Thanks for this recipe. It's going to be there on my dinner table this weekend.

We'll, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, rezala would be close to the korma you cooked, red in colour and rich, birista, laal mirch paste and all, and this recipe would be the chicken korma, white in colour and lighter. My dadi would do without most of the aromatics, but put in some pandan leaves (polao patta) and the smell would be incredible. The whole muhall would know there is polao and korma in the menu. Both my mother and my dadi would finish it with some milk at the end. With saada polao, this chicken korma would be heaven.
I don't cook Non Vegetarian food... (Though I eat... As my husband cooks it for me 😜...)
