Great video! Very Can you troll with just a lure and a leader? Seems like you guys are not using any down riggers or divers. Something like straight braid to leader to lure (spoon, crankbaits) thanks!
Nice just found your channel. Subscribed :) I'm in learning mode when it comes to the river. How do you adjust speed going into current vs with current? Im used to lake trolling at 2.5 but seems into current would have to go slower and with current a little faster? Great videos
You can slow down a bit going into current as it imparts more action on the baits at less speeds. We have caught several fish anchored in fast current with the boat not even moving. We usually don't troll downstream.
In fast current you can get away with slower boat speeds. Me and Adam can both confirm catching fish while spot-locked trolling. Crankbaits were literally stationary in the river but the current kept them down and shaking. Fish ate them while we were casting at a damn face not moving.
@@squealingreels2503 yeah i have done that before especially in shallow water coming off deep drops. The current is wild. I am starting to figure these fish out on the river. Do you ever use planer boards? I havent used them much.
I'm a new subscriber. I'm from Jackson-Vinton county area in Ohio about 45 minutes away from Gallipolis. I'm buying a boat real soon and plan on doing most of my fishing on the Ohio river and its tributaries. Where you guys from? Maybe we can link up sometime when I get my boat. What kind of boat are you guys in?
We are both from Gallipolis, born and raised in gallia county. We are both going to have new boats here pretty soon, and yeah we love meeting up and going fishing!

Yeah definitely trolling at its simplest. The water is only 5-7 foot in that area so it makes it very simple.
Awesome video guys!!! at 8:38 that was a nice sauger!
Appreciate that! Means a lot!
Ego s2 nets.. well worth the price!!
I have thought about doing trolling on the kanawha river like this , will have to give it a try, good video
It would be killer below Winfield dam! Sand bars and gravel patches would hold fish I'm sure!
@@squealingreels2503 I'll give it a shot , watch for videos
I'm going to have to try the Kanawha as well, Winfield and East of Charleston

I'm fast current we usually shoot for 1-1.5mph but sometimes a little quicker is the ticket
Thank you. Good information. Appreciate it for sure.
When you are trolling the banks how fast upstream do you troll? I hear the faster the better aroun 1 mph to 2? Any advice
