The reason for the 62gb, from what I’ve found isn’t malware. It’s that when upscaling the textures they decided for some dumb reason not to compress them, thus bloating file size unnecessarily. It would still have taken up more space than the original games but not this much. It’s possibly some weird form of anti-piracy as that has been the reason some companies (I.e. rockstar) have chosen to do this in the past, but I doubt it.
Either they didn't care or Disney just dropped it on them and told to have it working by the weekend. And they either wanted to tell how cool they are on stock holder meeting or a cash crab.
There's, like, a million ways to do that _without_ making a game that's 8x the size of itself. ;/

@Airier yea theres 2 ways at it one way is sos beecken search or once you start a mission randos can enter your game ( if you have the setup to do so )
there should be a law that if you win a lawsuit the other party have to pay for lawyer and court fee for both of them. especially where they start the lawsuit.
Pretty sure that was a law in the UK legal system, but I could easily be wrong.
They honestly should have continued with the modern battlefronts instead of cutting support.

Don't forget; the devs took a mod from Moddb to add in the DLC characters and maps, and it was the outdated version of the mod, and then lied about it (and then people checked the game files and code)
Edit: Also, speaking of the ports - the original PC versions were actually different from the Xbox and PlayStation versions - had their own UI and Menus and even extended options for game options (Unit/Player count, win conditions, Hero conditions, etc). The Classic Collection - for some reason - is a "drag and drop" port of the Xbox version, with the old Xbox UI and Menus that were made to be navigated with a controller. And doesn't seem to have the same game options that I mentioned, or at least a much much smaller list of options because 2000s Xbox Hardware limitations.
10:40 : Considering how they appear to have done the 'remastering' I.E. AI Upscaled to 1080p textures from the original, the size is more likely due to incompetence rather than malice. Uncompressed texture files galore, they probably literally took the raw post-upscale files and dropped them in.
16:00 my only complaint with the older Star Wars Battlefront games on gog is the controller support is a pain to setup and i can't play most fps games on a pc with a mouse and keyboard do to a wrist injury i can't move the mouse like you would need to do. and full controller support was the only thing this game did right
13:40 So for those who wonder why disney did this: US copyright law is a stand-your-ground type law where if you know someone is using your IP and you do nothing about it, it goes into the public domain for free use. Ignorance is a legit excuse, but if someone tells you that someone else is using your IP, you either act upon it, or its considered willfully given up for other people to make use of and make a profit on. It also allows any interpretation of that IP to be done in anyway they want, thereby distorting or outright ruining the reputation of that IP. This is why disney has an army barracks of lawyers ready to sue anyone using the mouse, as mickey and the rest of all the things disney owns are extremely iconic and widespread in the public.
I want to thank Aspyr and the Battlefront Classic Collection for finally getting me to decide to revisit Battlefront 2 by Remastering the original instead of getting their garbage port.

Yah, while legally it isnt a scam, it isnt, in the same way that legally gacha and lootboxes arent gambling.
Ethically and psychologically it basically is.
i still have the PS2 Battlefront 1 and 2 and can confirm all this game is, is a port..... i can say the controller support works and that is the only thing good about it. with all the updates it gets around to 69-72 Gigs to install it for me and i could play it offline. if i did not get it for free i would have refunded it 😞
The two characters that was added are just someone's mod that added them to PC version from the console version complete with the wrong animations also Max0r posted the Helldivers 2 it a bit out of date because Malevelon Creek was freed and the Automatons came back from being beaten at Malevelon Creek

I would call it a re-release. It's taking a product that was already on PC and releasing it again, just in this case both games in one.
tbf I heard that aspyr made a pretty good tomb raider collection with updated graphics and such

Yeah, apparently the old games’ rights were not part of the sale disney was part of (plus they were already on steam), instead only the Name and storyline were actually bought out, so they cant take them down apparently
That makes no sense, they were published by LucasArts (which Disney acquired as part of the buyout, only to immediately dismantle because they didn't see the value of an already-successful video game publisher when they were busy building up Disney Interactive, which... oops) like all pre-Disney Star Wars games outside of a few console adaptations early-on.

But 90% of the the time remakes suck we now have 10 different FF7 and they all suck, the Resi 4 remake is somehow wors the the original one it just looks better in the last of us remake they dint even change anything its the same graphics

The hell are you on about, the RE4 remake was a strong candidate for GotY last year and FF7 Remake is a strong candidate for JRPG of All Time.
