The big thing about The Veil, it was revealed in the season after light fall that its supposed to be The Travelers twin. The darkness version of it. Which would've been great to know in lightfall and not a season that'll go away when Final Shape drops. As Lore Daddy Byf would say multiple times, this makes it hard for new and returning players to understand what's going on. Bungie is good at making a story, but telling that story is another matter. Looking at you, Marathon.
Bungie also has a problem with retconning. They love to say one thing (pyramids are the actual darkness) and then come around with "Gotcha!!! They are only the black fleet and only ships, and many other examples of retconning (original d1 Story, the veil, nezarec etc..) So now we have the problem that we have this cookie cutter story presentation that has great deep lore behind it, but much of that lore got retconned or just left in the dust, and big questions like if unveiling is real (and bungie hinted multiple times that its just propaganda but also multiple times that it could be real), what is the traveler, what is the veil and so on ate either answered in final shape, or if not they are just left to be guessed wich would sadly be something typical for bungie
into the light(the new content update meant to hold us over until they finish the final shape) is pretty good they added in a wave defense mode and brought back a lot of old weapons gave us the "superblack" shader we've been asking for and outbreak perfected is now a craftable weapon meaning it can truly be perfected and in the final shape we would finally be getting the "prismatic" subclass(which allows us to mix and match abilities from the other existing subclasses) which is pretty hype considering Bungie seems to have had that idea since the alpha of Destiny 1 and the best part is THEY NOW HAVE A GROUP FINDER
I am jumping here to correct your misunderstanding of Prismatic. Prismatic only combines the subclasses of a class and you only get one thing from each subclass... You only get one grenade, melee and aspect from each subclass, its a 5 by 6 grid where you can choose one thing from every colum. There are going to be exotic Class items which combine 2 random perks from other exotics which don't necessarily have to be from your class, you could get a warlock class item with perks from hunter and titan for example. Where you might have gotten the Classes don't exist anymore idea is that the leaker who predicted Prismatic also claimed that Destiny 3 is in production and that it would have the ability to pick any ability on any character.
we got explanations in the seasons after lightfall though season of the wish is just the season before witch queen again but with Riven instead of Savathun and instead of Mara Sov screwing over someone she learns how to not be a manipulative sociopath
Also in the Campaign, it kinda overwrote your current Subclass when it switched to strand, that's why some Subclass specific Exotics still worked on it. It doesn't work when you select Strand yourself
Lord of The Rings is not a McGuffin story. The ring is explicitly told over and over and over exactly what it does to a person. Plus not everyone wants it. Sure, some people are drawn to it because they have desire; but people like Elrond, Gandalf, and Marry + Pippin do not want it.
I jumped back in a few months ago. I was out for so long, everything I knew was gone, what I still had wasn't usable, and a lot of the seasonal story was just gone, so I had no idea what happened. I do miss palling around, though. Playing with you and Doug was fun.
@@Airier yeah I can imagine how odd it would be jumping back on after a massive break because they just vaulted so much story, yeah was good ole days I was just thinking about it and the fact it was like 8 years ago now!! Makes me feel old and so much has changed since then, must admit though and don’t let it get to your head 😂 but you have definitely aged far less than I have other the years 😂😂
@@AirierThe Story is considerably better than LightFall. The Final Shape as a whole is an amazing expansion. As a Destiny 2 fan that plays for the story I hated LightFall’s campaign with a passion, but Final Shape was outstanding. A new enemy faction, combining all abilities into one subclass, an ACTUAL STORY, GREAT exotics, and the LARGEST location in destiny history. This with more QOL changes 100% recommend. At the very least it gave many long time players closure rather than continuing their addiction to the grind. Unfortunately, due to how bad LightFall did (plus upper management being absolutely horrible at their jobs) Bungie had MASSIVE layoffs due to their lack of funds. The community is in Shambles right now. (Sorry for typing so much; I’ve never had a content creator of any kind respond to me 😅)
Eh, Curse of Osiris was alright. But if you did stop playing after that, then that’s pretty bad luck for you. Basically all the expansions afterwards were quite good. Forsaken, the second expansion after Curse of Osiris, is near-universally considered one of the best.

Also they did add a wave defensr mode recently. And a raid boss encounter boss rush type game mode with changes to the encounters.

Yeah I play destiny 1 but I’ve never played destiny 2 . Though I do follow the lore of destiny 2
I still play D2 you could have ask me at any time and I would go raiding with you.
Until Lightfall dropped D2 was better than D1. Betyyond Light and Witch Queen were peak Destiny. Even the seasonal story was fantastic.
