And that was by putting distance and then ultimately ending himself to destroy the Hollow for good. That to me shows that Klaus redeemed himself in the end. Alaric has also killed many vampires and shoved plenty of them into a prison world and ruined lives just because he didn't want to deal with the fallout. Vampires who still had families, who still had friends, and who probably all didn't ask to be vampires in the first place. Alaric thinks he's saving the world, but he's only adding to it's suffering. He's the biggest hypocrite I've ever seen. Why? Because Damon changed and grew. Just like Klaus did. The only difference is that Alaric didn't get to see Klaus change and grow. Alaric has a good reason to hate Damon as well. Damon has literally killed him several times. Has used him, abused him, and hurt his family, yet Alaric still forgave him. Klaus ended his own life to save his daughters. He changed for his daughter.
