In my opinion the UK has the worst delinquent culture in the world. The ego and pride is way out there. People call these lads names but end of the day when this was filmed they’re were all young guys been in prison since 14 etc when should be getting their GCSES. Good question - I'd lay money that if you looked at these kids' backgrounds, there is a lot of personal and social dysfunction, their parents and all the adults around them are probably unemployerd or underemployed, not well educated and, in essense, their "normal" is an environment that's completely dysfunctional. Personally I think its a fool's hope to think they are going to start making better decisions themselves, and I don't think all the social workers in the world can gently nudge them hard enough back in the right direction. The problem isn't just that they are dysfucntional, its that they are actively hostile to the idea of changing. Ad the thing is, as far as I can tell, between social welfare and petty crime, they are able to afford a "good enough" lifestyle, I mean at 5:56 there are 3 of them sitting in a clean living room on a leather sofa and he's tellig us he owns 4 dogs, so its not Victorian slums or anything. I grew up on a area like this and it made me the person I am today. It taught me how to be man and also the difference between true right and wrongs. I havent been to jail but nearly all of my friends who I grew up with have. In most cases the people who have not been to jail have never been caught. I must say though having a "I don't care about anything" lifestyle can be very rewarding and everyday is an enjoyment although if you want to follow a mainstream lifestyle then living like this will prevent that, if it didn't I would still be out doing the same thing. Having a social circle of people around you who wont lie or bullshit you and will back you up no matter what. Who is to say that common societies life paths and choices are any better than theres which just entails eating, sleeping, working and repeating and doing the same shit day after day. We are a violent species with sadistic tendencies which show on the internet. When not on the internet violence becomes apparent, and nobody can lie and say that feeling is not good. Most of the people like that do have choices though, it's just harder to break out and succeed than it is for most people. The American version of these people usually have to either work really hard in school to get a scholarship or join the military. It's harder then it is for the average joe growing up in a shitty neighborehood or a broke city, but its doable. The problem is they fall in with gangs or they just give up without ever having tried to get out of their poor ass town.

Think of it in the sense that a unicycle is harder to use than a bike. Studies have shown time and time again that without a dad the risk of a child developing behavioral problems increases, much like choosing to take a unicycle to work increases the risk of you falling flat on the pavement. It's not a guarantee but an increased risk. The "prejudice" is statistically warranted.

I knew someone like that, And to be honest? They're better off on the inside. He became very dangerous person overtime, Unpredictable! Some people are beyond help.
I know someone like Coopz with similar anger problems and stuff, and the way he handles his anger is he takes it out on himself instead of others (punching walls etc..) and because he hurts himself he realizes what he is doing quicker and calms down quicker, he then just suffers from bruised and cut knuckles instead of prison sentences and injured peeps.

In my opinion the UK has the worst delinquent culture in the world. The ego and pride is way out there. The way some of the youth criminals kill people is sickening from the stories I heard of people living there. It starts with alcohol, weed and sex at a young age mixed in with peer pressure and they grow up only looking for instant gratification. So stealing comes natural to them. The idea of sitting down and preparing for a future becomes impossible for them.

I know Ali from Reading Youth Offenders back in 2006 and he was a good lad, always polite and personable never any trouble towards prisoners or staff. People call these lads names but end of the day when this was filmed they’re were all young guys been in prison since 14 etc when should be getting their GCSES. Even they admit on camera what they do is out of stupidity due to alcohol but without guidance it’s hard to break the cycle. Not much going for young ostracised men in the UK either, no leg ups or help. I hope they’ve all grown out of it now a decade on and that they’re of value to society.

I think it's easy to criticise these kids (and I completely understand why) but the harder question is what can we do to stop people living like this? You do not just turn out like these kids did for no reason.

Good question - I'd lay money that if you looked at these kids' backgrounds, there is a lot of personal and social dysfunction, their parents and all the adults around them are probably unemployerd or underemployed, not well educated and, in essense, their "normal" is an environment that's completely dysfunctional. Personally I think its a fool's hope to think they are going to start making better decisions themselves, and I don't think all the social workers in the world can gently nudge them hard enough back in the right direction. The problem isn't just that they are dysfucntional, its that they are actively hostile to the idea of changing.
Ad the thing is, as far as I can tell, between social welfare and petty crime, they are able to afford a "good enough" lifestyle, I mean at 5:56 there are 3 of them sitting in a clean living room on a leather sofa and he's tellig us he owns 4 dogs, so its not Victorian slums or anything. Strange as it may soud, this might just be the price you pay for the fact that overall, the quality of life for everyone has continually risen for many years, now even abject poverty in the UK has smartphones and netflix included.

I grew up on a area like this and it made me the person I am today. It taught me how to be man and also the difference between true right and wrongs. I havent been to jail but nearly all of my friends who I grew up with have. In most cases the people who have not been to jail have never been caught. I must say though having a "I don't care about anything" lifestyle can be very rewarding and everyday is an enjoyment although if you want to follow a mainstream lifestyle then living like this will prevent that, if it didn't I would still be out doing the same thing. Having a social circle of people around you who wont lie or bullshit you and will back you up no matter what. Who is to say that common societies life paths and choices are any better than theres which just entails eating, sleeping, working and repeating and doing the same shit day after day. I can also guarantee that every person who mocks these lads will never have the balls or gut to say it to there faces. Just as there is dogs of the internet there is dogs of the mainland. We are a violent species with sadistic tendencies which show on the internet. When not on the internet violence becomes apparent, and nobody can lie and say that feeling is not good.
Also these are not chav's. Thats very outdated as was just a fashion phase for the younger British generation in like 2005.
I grew up in an area like that too and I get the straight talking friends forever bit. The only thing that it back's though is you into a corner. I did the whole drinking, drugs and fighting bollocks and then one day I grew up.
The saddest things about growing up in estates like that is dying in estates like that. Never going anywhere or achieving anything. Its a crying shame.
My advice to people in places like that is get out as soon as. You can always visit, you don't have to forget where you come from and hopefully a bit of your positive experiences might rub off on someone...
