32-bit is not worth it, not today, since most software only supports 64-bit. This laptop with 4 GB of ram will do just fine despite its age. It's pretty close to a first-generation i3 370m in laptops. Just think that it is the equivalent of the thinkpad t400 and the dell latitude e6400, since they competed at the time.
Sadly the trackpoint of the 6930p is very bad compared to the t400. Furthermore, its main disadvantage is the hinges, which, being made of lead, will end up breaking, but you can continue using it normally, except that it will not close properly and the screen can also wobble a little.

They kept the design ethos from the old NC/6xxx series which were great laptops, I still have an NC6400 with the ATI GPU in semi regular use.

Are you running XP? You have to update it to SP3, I did that by running updates from legacyupdate.net after plugging in an Ethernet cable.
