Thank you thank you so so much! I can’t even express my thankfulness. I have online classes and I tried every single video on UA-cam and nothing worked until I found your easy to follow videos. You saved me. I love you.
YOU ARE THE ONLY REASON I HAVEN'T THROWN THIS LAPTOP AT THE WALL!!! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN??!?! IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YOUR GREATNESS! you are clear and easy to understand and follow! I wish i could shake your hand i am so happy currently!
Thank you so much for this video, I tried so many different solutions for my laptop and none worked, but this one worked out great, you the real MVP, thanks!
@@PC_Monkey Hello, I have the boot not found problem and it says to install an operating system. I tried to install a new windows 10 by media tool but it doesn't show up in the boot manager. Do I need to completely replace the hard drive? Short DST failed btw.
@@PC_Monkey Doing all of it exactly, after it supposedly finishes the install it throws me back to the first windows setup menu where you choose language, time and currency format and keyboard and it basically makes me start over. What should I do?
@@juanky5555 After the install is complete, are you removing the USB? If not, the computer could restart and access it again to start the install process over.
You helped me from point A to Z. I had to run the quick test and I failed the Short DST portion. I replaced the HDD with Samsung EVO SSD, just like you instructed. Then, I downloaded Microsoft 10 onto a Flash Drive and uploaded it to my computer. Instructions are incredibly easy to follow. 10/10 service. You’ve earned a subscription and I will be buying a PC Monkey hoodie with the money I saved. Thanks homie
Great to hear !! Always here to help :):) Nice job seeing that repair through !!!
Your videos saved me so much money! Thank you so much. One of the few channels that give such clear instructions that actually work
This helped me revive a brand new laptop I kept away because I gave up on it... I seriously can't thank you enough for how easy you made this entire process!!
You have no idea how much this has helped me. I have watched SO many of your videos and was able to learn that my hard drive was going bad, so I bought a new one (solid state) and got it all installed and set up without having to spend a load of money for tech support. THANK YOU! I will always check your channel first for any future computer work.
Great to hear !! Always here to help :):) Well done doing that all yourself :) It can be frustrating at first but is pretty rewarding to start fixing your own computer :)
Brilliant - thanks for the easy to follow videos and great commentary. Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning when we'll be attempting the fix!
Fantastic, Thank you so much! I thought I would have to buy a new laptop as my hard drive died. With your help and instruction I have been able to give it a new lease of life.
Sir, you are a godsend. I’ve had an HP sitting in my junk drawer for over a year and this is what finally fixed it. Thank you!
Just donated. Thank you so much for presenting this helpful solution in an easy to employ manner. Cheers!
Hey man, thank you so much for showing this in an easy step format. I sincerely appreciate you creating this video. Keep up the great work man!
Thank you very much! You are the best and your channel is really useful! I thought my laptop was broken but thanks to your videos I was able to get it back!
+1 like 👍 !!!
hi i have a question , if i delete all my drives and leave 1 , which drive should i leave it because i got both ssd and hdd drive?
dont delete them, keep them both but make sure both are empty, then select the SSD for the installation.
Thank you so much for this video bruh. I went from struggling with this whole "SMART hard disk error" "Boot device not found" two days ago to a functioning laptop. Sounds like all I needed was a working new hard drive, flash drive and a spare alternate PC to use in windows 10 installation process. I knew right away that if i replaced the bad drive with a new one, half of the problem would have been solved.
Great Video. I have a question though. What if you are unable to delete all the partitions? I started with 5 and was only able to delete 1 of the 5. I now have 4 showing. Help?
You're a godsend! A Wizard! A Living Legend! Thank you so much for helping us all who have been stuck with this issue.
Many many Thanks! Man it was really heplful and I did even Fixed my Blue screen Error. It really worked!! YOU ARE THE BEST!

You are the BEST!!! I just fixed my laptop that has been stuck on this blue recovery screen for a year or so. 😁😄
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm trying to sell my laptop and was at the end of my rope! Your instructions were amazing!

Thank you so much! I have tried so many videos and this actually worked! You are awesome!
You’re legit awesome. We thought we messed up the laptop bad but your very detailed steps helped us recover the unrecoverable. You my friend are amazing.
NOTE TO ALL: You’re a genius sir. Your desire and time dedicated to making our lives easier is beyond imagination. Thank you.
THANK GOD I found this video. Had a computer for several years that we weren't using since we both had work laptops but since we both quit our jobs recently we decided to wipe our home computer clean and start over. Of course for whatever reason windows didn't load correctly after the factory reset and it got stuck in this repair loop. So glad this video showed me how to fix this all!! Thanks!
Glad your all set :) Always here if needed !! Good luck with everything! No feeling like quitting a job LOL
I was stuck in blue screen saying inaccessible boot device, and I tried all tutorials found on UA-cam, till i bump to this. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Such a great help❤
What do u do if when u click on the usb on the boot menu then it loads but then it turns the whole screen black for a very long time
Honestly computer is done for. I cant do recovery, or factory reset or reinstall windows 10 from bios USB drive
Man, you saved me so much money. I had places that wanted to charge 200 just to look at, and then will 'fix' the problem if they can detect it. I looked one more time for a how-to and you the 1st I came across that told us to reinstall the system drive. Thank you so much. Almost threw this thing away.
Thanks Mr Monkey your videos are great. I was able to fix my laptop after watching your video really imprested. I had to formatt my harddrive as it was corrupt.
Thank you so much for the video. I just reinstall windows 10 in my hp pavillion 15 by fully following your instructions in the video and it work really well. No issues at all. I'm now installing the windows updates. Thank you :')
You saved me so much! This is one of 100 tutorials who actually works ! Thanks you !
I have clicked on usb on the boot menu, then the screen turns black with pc logo n loads for a long period of time? What do i do?
After trying about 15 other things I finally realized that I needed to reinstall windows. I used your other vid to download it and this one to load it. Thx so much man, I literally almost threw my laptop out. I thought it was fried for sure
Happy to help :) Always here if needed !! Nice job seeing it through a bunch of steps and finally fixing it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank u do much super easy to follow and u go at beginner level speed...thanks again brother :)
Dear Jamin, This hopefully is a simpler question to answer: Is there a way to covert songs on a cd or vhs/dvd/cd player to a mp3 file on your computer using a certain king of cable?
Thanks!!!
A very good, informative, detailed and helpful video.
Thank you so much for the making of all of your videos.
Your are very professional and awesome 👌
Thank you for the video! I will help me a lot to do a clean install on my new SSD when it arrives... Just one question, this is the first time I'll be doing this so my concern is, will the computer try to boot from the USB next time I turn it on (since it was changed on the BIOS settings) or will it boot automatically from the SSD ??
Thank you in advance!
If the USB with the install media is still in the computer, it may try to boot from it. Remove it and it should boot fine from your storage device. Also, put the HDD or SSD back as the first option in the boot menu when done should also help
Holy crap! Since this video was made over 2 years ago I didn’t know if it would still work. However I followed your steps and now I got my old laptop running windows 10 instead of windows 8.1. Thanks!
Great to hear !! Always here to help :):)
The process to install Windows 10 wont really every change :) This video should still apply 10 years from now ;)
Thank you for posting this video, it helped me a lot. I have Hp notebook. Laptop getting restart in repeated loops with PNP detected fatal error. I have tried to recover and reinstall windows locally but it didn't work.
Finally decided to install windows 10 freshly form usb.
This video helped me a lot from creating usb bootable drive to installing windows 10. Thanks a lot.
Hi there, thanks for the tutorial I'm gonna give it a try today. One question though, will I lost document I have stored on my laptop after the update?
If you reinstall Windows as shown in this video then yes, it would erase all data on your computer. You should back up any data you want to save first.
hey man, great video but I am having a bit of trouble, my pc use to boot and then it just stopped so now I am trying to reinstall windows 10 to fix it but when I go into custom install and look at the dropdown menu it doesn't show any partitions what so ever for me to delete and it says couldn't detect hard drive, I have the same laptop model as you and I was wondering if you could help me out with this problem.
I want to replace the hard drive to my Dell Inspiron 3583 laptop with a higher capacity one, however, I don't have Windows 10 installation software for it or the license key, for that matter. Dell has that stored in a partition inside the current hard drive. Is there a way to move the data from old to new HHDs, without having to re-install everthing, OS and all other software, it corrently have? I don't think i can upgade to a SSD because Dell is offering only PCIe NVME SSD as "Parts & Upgrades" for my laptop instead.
mine just shows boot option menu ans straight to the arrows like theres no option my usb doesnt show the only way i can boot is in legacy mode but then how do i install windows 8 on my main hddd while on legacy mode?
@2:35
I deleted all the partitions including system reserve. Then I try to create new partitions for system reserve and primary. But it shows as below
❎ We couldn't create a new partition. [Error: 0x8f4cbf40].
Please guide me boss.
This video is showing you how to install Windows fresh. Are you trying to install Windows? Why are you trying to create your own partitions?
I have to agree with Ms. Dominguez's comment thanking you. You are the King ha ha, I finally reinstalled Win 10 and I can use my laptop again. Thanks again. Oh, your directions and procedures are so easy to follow. Thanks again.
Yo thanks, this and the video on how to create installation media for Windows 10 you made helped me get back into a business laptop that I was locked out of and couldn't do a traditional factory reset on due to not knowing its BitLocker recovery key or having an existing business/enterprise login anymore.
Can Windows 10 pro be installed on most HP laps? I have an hp8540p. A few yrs old. Another question...I found there are many Windows 10 pro versions. Windows 10 pro x64, windows 10 pro Blue edition, Windows 10 pro permanent activator. What are these??
Thankyou so much for this video. I tried so many method to resolved issue but nothing works and this method really helpful for me
Thank so much Sir... everytime I got ds problem. I always looked your videos... it such angel fix my problem...
Hi Jamin, I wanted to see if you can help me again with my HP ENVY Laptop? You helped be 2 years ago but I wasn't successful. I wanted to ask is there a way for me to upload pictures of what I see on my computer screen? When I turn on the computer it says "Preparing Automatic Repair" then "Diagnosing Your PC", then Automatic Repair … Thanks for any assistance in advanced!
When it’s on the instillation where the green checks are , why does my laptop turn off can you help me . ?
Hi! If i want to keep my file and not remove it, can i use this method? My HP DK0127AU got problem (just show hp logo) and bluescreen and then shutdown. I have try all of your method in other video and all of them not work, even though diagnostic all passed, and the conclusion bring me to the video, so i think this is really last method that bring me hope.
But, i dont want to lose my data. Is there any solution without erasing my data, or maybe backup it? The data is within SSD onboard, so i can remove them to put in other laptop to backup it.
Thank you so much! You have saved me some major cash. No new computer quite yet!
Hi there, how I can partion my hard because at this point you will only have C, not D or F... E,
Cheers
I am only showing one partition and it's saying that it's 0.0mb free space and 0.0mb total size, what should I do? I scanned my HD and it passed
I’ve done exactly what you’ve done but every time I do it comes up with a screen asking for the language. Then it has options like troubleshoot and turn off pc. It has recover from drive and advanced options. Every time I try to recover it stops at 50% and says “could not reset pc, no changes were made.” I’ve tried this with a drive in and out of the pc multiple times and system restore, system image recovery, and startup repair don’t work either. I don’t know if my pc is just dead at this point but I really need any help I could get, please. And also every time I try to use command prompt, most commands won’t work. And I can’t even go back to use the pc! Every time on turn it on it’s the same blue screen asking for a language! Please please please help bro I really need it.🙏🙏🙏
Recover is Reset. This video is not showing a reset. Its showing a new install. If your using install media but selecting the recovery options then this wont work.
My computers hard drive crashed and I installed a new one then I was lost as to what to do. Thank you sooooooo much for this video it saved me! Now my son can resume classes online! Thank you!!
Happy to help :) Always here if needed !! Great job seeing the repair through !!
Thank you very much I did all the process in one device and using phone.Thank you again..
hi! i have this problem where my computer cant find the hard disk when in the windows download screen. do you have any idea on how to fix this? thanks!
I select the usb option in boot option but it doesn’t happen my computer again start the repairing loop
OMG!!! FINALLY SOMETHING IS GOING AS PLANNED. I THINK THIS IS GONNA WORK. THANK YOU SO MUCH. NO ONE ELSE EXPLAINED IT AND SHOWED IT TO WHERE A DUMMY LIKE ME COULD FOLLOW. YOU ARE AWESOME
@@PC_Monkey Do you have a video for getting both hard drives back. after reinstalling windows 10, my 1TB hard drive isn't showing . its only showing one hard drive. Thanks
So, i have some data on my ssd and hard Drive, i bought another hard Drive and i want to install Windows on that one so i do not delet any data but how do i do that?
Hello,
I did the same thing on my lenovo laptop . It showed the window 10 logo for a few seconds then the screen went blank and doesn’t do anything.
You have a video on using the media tool to so I can recover my data and reset my computer I downloaded the Windows media tool and I've tried everything and it won't let me get to the hard drive
Hey so my friend have installed a new windows 10 but this windows doesn't have a nightlight and brightness option
I have tried what the Video says but it will not let me delete partition am I doing something wrong?
Brilliant video..one question please..my 2yr old HP windows 10 hard drive failed so just replaced with new SSD..have not turned machine on yet but have windows 10 new install ready on usb flash drive..do I turn on laptop first and format new ssd and allocate it a drive letter first and then afterwards flash the new windows 10 to laptop..unsure as have just been picking things up from you tube videos..thank you..
Most likely, you souldnt have to do that. Try just inserting the USB, turning on the computer, and trying to access the startup options as seen here :)
what if i get to install windows and theres no partitions no nothing?.. ( i have 2 ssd drives i bought.. been trying both but hp still doesnt see any of them.. thanks wutcha tink? oh!!!! by the way i formatted both with my other pc which has windows 10 pro.. and my bad hp pc DID HAVE A REGULAR copy of factory winodws 10
Was your HP computer booting up and working well before this attempted install? If not, what was wrong with it?
Hey so I’ve followed your instructions. One thing, after the installing files part, it’ll say it needs to restart. When it does that, it goes back to the start of the process..am I supposed to take the USB flash drive before it restarts or? Note I also did change the order in bios prior to this to let it launch off the usb flash drive first. Please let me know as soon as you can, i’ve been tackling this for a few hours before I went to buy a flash drive
Yes, you should remove the USB before the restart or it may start the install process over if it tries to boot from the USB again.
I hope one day I can figure this out on my own lol. Thank you! I appreciate it!
question....you need to do this only if you have windows 10 and you see a message that a newer of windows 10 needs to be installed right? i wonder why they dont have those service packs on windows update anymore?
This video is showing how to install Win10 onto a computer that does not have it. If you have a computer thats working, you can just go to the Microsoft website and select 'Update' instead of creating an Install Media USB as seen here
How long does it take to get to the windows setup screen (at 2:00 in the video)? My computer popped up the HP and spinning circle, and then went black but is still on.
It can take a while sometimes. But it should not go black for very long. If it wont progress, try running this scan; ua-cam.com/video/o06Iv3Fc9Vw/v-deo.html. Let me know how that goes:)
How do we know what partitions to delete. I have a few labeled windows re tools, system, window, recovery image, and a few empty ones. And will doing this delete all my files, or how can i keep my old files and photos and pdfs.
If you're going to do a clean install, everything will be erased from your computer. You should make a backup of anything important before doing this. Can't stress this enough.
Does this process auto clean the previous windows? Do we need to do sth about the previous windows like factory data reset or deleting windows(Actually, I don't know you can delete windows or not)? Or make Installation media, power off the device, and insert drive and power on and proceed?
Installing Windows the way that is shown here will erase everything else from your Drive including any previous versions of Windows :)
1:23 after that it showed me an empty screen with a few lines here and there and when I press anything it starts all over 😕 I'm using HP Pavilion G6
Thanks for the respond but is it normal getting stuck on just a moment on network
Hello, I have an HP computer that won’t go passed the HP first black screen. With circle on white dots. I was told to down load onto a flash drive from another computer and install on this laptop. However nothing is working. Please let me know if you have a video for this or can help me. Thank you
Are you able to try the steps seen here? ua-cam.com/video/_qF-oqPrn7M/v-deo.html
Hi there, all is good with my laptop except now it's asking me to activate Windows and that no product key was found on my device. So I have to spend money now?
Before this whole mess happened to my laptop, I was running windows 7 for free. Old OS but free nonetheless. I don't really want to spend money on this old laptop since it's only a back-up. Any suggestions?
Do you have an old Windows 7 product sticker on the bottom of your laptop? If so, you can try using that code. Most often it still works :)
@@PC_Monkey Your the best. Thank you so much for all your instructions. You wouldn't believe how many videos and articles I went through to fix my laptop until I found your channel with all that great info and instructions that actually works.
Keep up the good work and thanks for replying to comments.
God Bless!
@@rivieracar1992 Great to hear it worked :) Happy to help :) Always here if needed !!
Hi, I had already installed thee winddows 10 and activated it with a product key. However recently, my hdd went bad and so i guess it affected my OS too.
If i were to use a flash disk to start a fresh install of windows by following the steps in this video, will I have to activate the windows again with a product key?
Or will it already be activated since my old OS was on this drive and i dont need to buy a product key?
Pls confirm
Its hard to say. It could go either way. But yes, if your HDD is bad then you should replace it. After replacing it, you would need to install Windows again new as seen here
How long did all of it take? I’m not really a patient person.
Thank you for being a resource. I got to the custom install and even went as far as to realize I would need a wired keyboard to complete this. I navigated my way through but when I reached the "Where do you want to install Windows?", my keyboard no longer works. As I was wanting to save my data if possible, I tried Alt + N to continue with the Drive 0 Unallocated Space but it did not recognize the keystrokes. I then tried Alt + R to Refresh to be sure it was the keyboard. It did not recognize that either.
Do I have an option?
The computer isnt seeing your keyboard or the external keyboard? Was your HP computer working well before this attempted install? If not, what was wrong with it?
HP Pro book 4730s, I removed the disk with Windows 7 and installed a new SSD and trying to install full version of Win 10 . When I get to the section where it is asking where to install Windows 10, there is no disk shown. When I look in bios, there is no section showing the drives. What do I need to do to allow the SSD to be seen by bios?
It could be loose. Try reseating it and look again. If that fails, try to run the diagnostic scan as seen here; ua-cam.com/video/o06Iv3Fc9Vw/v-deo.html
I tried this, but couldn't get it to go on a USB, so I put it on a disk and tried that, but it sat on the windows screen for over 8 hours, and I couldn't hear the disk being read or anything. Do I have to change any settings or anything for that to work? I have a dell insperon 15 3000 series.
Was your dell computer working well before this attempted install?
Also (This video is for an HP computer. Your Dell would use different Function keys)
Try running this scan on your Dell; ua-cam.com/video/IsqINCxx_Ik/v-deo.html
Hi, thanks for the detailed video. one thing I would like check here is, doesn't it ask for windows serial key to enter!!
It does, but I usually skip that part by clicking on 'I dont have it'. It usually pulls it later automatically. If not, you can enter it later.
I have a question. My laptop is hp also. My laptop has its own driver such as hp coolsense and so on. If I reinstall the system like what you said. Then, click the check update which automatically install the driver. Will this driver still the same as the old one? Furthermore, if it's not same, will it still function like the cooling system (fan)?
Windows 10 is usually pretty good at locating and downloading the correct drivers for your computer. If you prefer a particular driver or have upgraded components, you may have to locate and download those drivers yourself if Win10 does not automatically get them
I am having problems with a boot loop issue. I cannot boot from my USB install drive. When I go into the boot device options with F9 and select the USB, it takes me to the HP boot logo, but then gets sucked back into the boot loop issue. This then leads to a Blue Screen, followed by a restart, and then resets again. I have my boot priority set in BIOS to boot from the USB drive. Any help to figure out how to reinstall Windows 10 from the USB install media would be great!!
Try the other USB ports. Sometimes, computers will only use one of them for this. Also, where did you get the install media? Did you download it yourself as shown here?
