Thanks for this video. I’ve been using one of these laptops to host VST instruments for live performances. The I7 dual core that it came with was struggling a little. I just upgraded to the quad and so far the improvement has been worth it. CPU utilization is much better. I also have a 2560p. Maybe look into upgrading that as well.
Wow. I need a techie in my world LOL. I bought a Windows 10 with Cortana and haven't been able to do much but watch movies. It's like pulling teeth to cut and paste links. I've been doing everything from my phone for UA-cam and it's causing my eyes to be crossed and sleepy because the screen so small. I need to take a separate lesson on how to use this laptop. well this was helpful too but what am after is installing my fingerprint on the 2570p. i tried many process but nun work the installation will be done but the biometric will not show in the device manager and by that it will not work in the main settings panel so i don't know if you can help with that ill be very great full if so

You the first one I've seen on UA-cam that does put enough paste for 10 laptops --- getting all over. Good way to kill a mbd. GOOD WORK. Miss the days when almost everything could be upgraded. Now everything is glued and soldered -- mostly junk.
I love this laptop, Mine came with an i5 but still, minecraft runs over 100fps, and the good side. I bought mine from the FaceBook Marketplace from some dude in Canada and i got the adobe master collection with it! So i got a great deal on mine lol
I am waiting for a i7 3740qm to come in the mail. Going to put that in my Hp 8470p which is similar to your 2570p. I am going to be using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste and I also bought a OEM fan v5 so I can update my fan since I accidentally snapped one of the screw parts off. It still works but I just want to make sure everything is aligned properly so I can push as much hot air out as possible. I know that the i7 3740qm runs hotter since it's a 45 watt cpu. The OEM fan might have to have some of the dust cleaned off it which I use q-tips just like I normally do to clean laptop cpu fans. I ended up buying it used because the price was cheaper than paying more for the OEM fan. The other brands are chinese knock offs. One of the sellers I dealt with lately showed a picture of a Foxcon v5 cpu fan and he sent me an entirely different cpu fan. I had to send that fan back to the scammer. I hate when people false advertise. Not only did they send a cheap chinese fan but it didn't even have the screws that were in the Foxcon v5 cpu fan.
Finally I know this processor is not an exact match as your proposed upgrade but I would like to use the Core i7-3820QM because vPro, Trusted execution etc. Because it is 45W instead of 35W, do you think that using liquid metal instead of thermal grease/paste maybe a better heat skin, would be a viable upgrade?
Liquid metal won't do that much better than regular thermal paste with a stock cooler. The limit here is how quickly the stock cooler dissipates heat from the system. I've put 45w cpus in before and been fine, I just really wanted a 35w system. for heat and battery life.
these machines are awesome, i have mine since last week and have gotten the 3610qm. So far temps are not even worse as the i5 was with old thermalpaste :) I tried GTA 5 and BF 3, with some tweaking its bearable, but productivity is killer! What are your plans for the machine besides the quad?
My daughter wants to start to do videos for her own youtube channel. So I'm going to use it to show her how to edit video, and manage her account. We'll see how that goes.

Hi Have you check if the DP is multi streaming ? that is to say, if can hold three external monitors without the one of the laptop or two externals and the laptop one
I don't have a doc to test, but from my experience with other laptops, It will probably support 3 total monitors, the laptop monitor and 2 external IF you have a doc. Otherwise it just supports 1 other monitor from the HDMI on the side. you can get USB 3.0 adapters for another monitor if you don't want to use a doc, but in my experience they are pretty low quality, and don't support very high refresh rates, or high resolutions.

Hey man. Totally unrelated to this. I have the same laptop, but, for some reason, the integrated audio just refuses to make any sound. I've tried everything from drivers to testing the actual speakers in another laptop to make sure they were working and nada. Test on windows and Linux, and no luck. I read on a tread in tom's hardware that the problem lays in the bios, and a bios revert should fix it. Do you have any information on this? I saw your bios version is f.31. I'm running latest F.73

After changing the cpu and turning on the notebook, the lights come on for 5 seconds but the screen stays off and then turns off, can you help me with this error? There are a lot of people who set these up to run an eGPU, I'm not planning on it, but there are a lot of forum posts in that regard. You have to buy one of these: amzn.to/2SdbIcb + a power supply + a GPU, unless you already had the other two laying around, you're getting dangerously close to just a laptop upgrade cost wise.
I have a Lenovo G400s with i3-3110m, 8gb ram and ssd. I'm thinking of upgrading to i7 3632QM. Do you think this will make a big diference? I use the laptop to work, a lot of tabs on chrome, and other programs at the same time, my current cpu is not handling this well anymore.
it would be a HUGE difference in performance. When you have that many windows open, how much ram are you consuming. I might see if bumping up to 12 or 16 gigs of ram (depending on what config you have in there now) would do. I set up a desktop for my kids with a ryzen 3, 3200g and it ran like poo, it only had 8 gigs, I bumped it up to 12, and it ran a ton better. A Core i7-3632QM is $83 (cheapest buy it now on ebay), ram would be a lot cheaper.

1) not that I'm aware of. 2) you can do 2x8 gig dimms to have a total of 16gb. 8gb is the largest supported DDR3 dimm. there are 16 ones out there, but they are $$$$$$ and not all systems support them so I don't test them.

I notice you have rockstar on your pc. I am assuming you have gta v running on your laptop? I know from personal experience the i5 3320m is pretty bad with gta v. Did updating to the quadcore improve the experience? I know that the only way to get gta v to run with acceptable frame-rates but with some dips depending on the environment with a i5 3320m is to have 16 gigs of ram and resolution at 800x and with graphics on every lowest setting. Does gta v take advantage of the quad core?

anything CPU intensive will see a marked improvement going to a 4 core i7 vs the dual core i5. I personally am not familiar with those two applications, but yes, you'll see a big improvement. But making that decision will come down to price. Getting a i7 3632QM will run you around $80 on ebay, but for starting around $250, you can get an 8th gen core i5 that is also a 4 core processor, ebay.us/gDQBHm, and it will significantly out perform the 3rd gen i7, not only in CPU performance but graphics as well, you'll have faster memory, and possibly even nvme storage, which is faster as well. so Its worth the consideration.
@@ghostyanimationz2276 not for gaming. if you haven't already you can upgrade your ram, or go from a hard drive to an SSD, but the impact on gaming performance will be minimal. It will run better in general though.

put the old CPU back in, if it works, then it's the new CPU. you might be able to update bios if it hasn't been, other than that, you might have a dead CPU.

I have a 2560p and it’s the fastest computer I’ve ever owned. Boots up in 7 seconds with the ssd I put in it. Stock cpu ain’t bad.

the only 35w 4 core is Core i7-3632QM. I personally wouldn't go to a 45w, because I don't think the cooling system can manage it.

Most likely you need to update the BIOS first

I have the same laptop, after I upgraded the OS to WIN10, the webcam isnt working. Does your working ok? Seems like drivers issue.
probably, you should be able to find the windows 8 drivers and those work fine, on HP's website.

I think I picked up a frame or two, The graphics processor doesn't change, so the overall gaming performance doesn't change much.

probably not. you may have anything from a bad system board, to a bad CPU.

bigger problems if you damaged a 2nd cpu. you probably have a short on the board.

How was your thermal paste application? Did you plug in your fan? Did you secure the heatsink correctly? Without seeing it, cannot say much more.

Getting a i7 3632QM will run you around $80 on ebay, but for starting around $250, you can get an 8th gen core i5 that is also a 4 core processor, ebay.us/gDQBHm, and it will significantly out perform the 3rd gen i7, not only in CPU performance but graphics as well, you'll have faster memory, and possibly even nvme storage, which is faster as well. so Its worth the consideration.

... Get a new laptop. that laptop has just integrated graphics, and you cannot magically change that.

@@ghostyanimationz2276 not for gaming. if you haven't already you can upgrade your ram, or go from a hard drive to an SSD, but the impact on gaming performance will be minimal. It will run better in general though.

Neither? I wouldn't recommend anything older than a gen 2 core i5. core 2's are just too slow now, unless you are running older software.

No. just buy a lager SSD, they have come down in price so far, you can get a 1tb SSD for as little as $75USD.

3632qm is a 35w cpu, anything faster is either 45, or even 55w, and The cooling system is not up to the task of keep that much cpu cool.

I don’t know if it is required, but I did do a bios update prior to the upgrade, just because I like my systems to be up to date.

Hello! I still need help! I tried putting this CPU in my laptop and it powers on, the fans dont spin fast so its detecting it I think, but i just get a blank screen, please help!
put the old CPU back in, if it works, then it's the new CPU. you might be able to update bios if it hasn't been, other than that, you might have a dead CPU.
