If you are a Brit you can .but you have to know the rules.Greece has the same rules. A 180 day visa can be applied for ,you need private health insurance plus an income of 2000 euros per month
Short and sweet, yet it covered everything I needed! Thanks! I want to move to Spain next year from the USA, so I am trying to do as much research as possible!
I'm American living in the UK. I've been to 9 countries. Spain always has been my favourite. I would like to know what the rules are now, after BREXIT?

Hey! Got a few questions about registering as autonomo as an online tutor (I have a PhD in physics/biomterials): I'm Polish, trying to register in Valenica. I have already: NIE (just the number on a paper stamped by the immigration office) Padron in Valencia Private health insurance that covers me in Spain with no co-pays Spanish bank account (with upwards of 12k eur on it) EU passport/ID card I read that I have to go to the tax office, fill out a 037 form, and then bring documents from the tax office to register with social security. Then I can register as autonomo. After have all of the documents I listed above plus the registration as an autonomo, will that be enough to become resident here in Valencia, even before I have acquired any income or clients? Or do I need to show that I have already earned money as an autonomo and show that I have a certain lump sum/regular income from my self-employed work? Not sure what financial situation is expected of me. Thank you in advance!
Hi Katherina, Yes, last time we checked, with the docuements you listed above plus a proof of you being registered as self-employed, should be sufficient. If you take this route, you don´t need to have a private health insurance as you will be paying in the Social Security. The best of luck!
Quite un do-able now for non EU residents.. we wanted a static caravan weve got approx €250,000 but with application fees, ground rent for the van and then the frightening cost of health insurance its a no no - we're both 55
This was very helpful, thank you! I arrived in Spain (Alicante) only a few days ago and I plan to reside here permanently. Right now I do not have sufficient funds to live here for more than 2-3 months but in this time I hope to find a job which will allow me to live here permanently. Should I apply for my NIE number first in order to start working and then apply for my residency permit/green card once I am employed? Thanks again!
Hi, I am leaving Spain permanently, and therefore need to return my residency card. I have been informed to complete the EX-18 form and take it to the required office. The issue is when reading and completing the form it does not mention anything about leaving Spain and surrendering the NIE, more about applying for an NIE?
Maam thanks for the useful vid. Can you please help me understand how the teaching situation exactly is in south Spain? I'm not an English native speaker or EU citizen. But I'm a certified Iranian English teacher with master's degree, TESOL and CPE certidicates. currently working in Turkish school in Istanbul. Wanna move to Spain for teaching. does it work for me? can I find full time teaching job? please SOS... thanks a lot
Just a question - is there a tax incentive for pensioner moving to Spain like it is in Tenerife - flat tax for first ten years ? Thanks for your answer
I’m still al ittle confused. 3:21 Can you help please? I hold british passport but my children under 18 have EU passport. Can I stay in Spain and easily apply for residency without proving my income or anything else? Thanks
Good little video thanks, can you answer a question. I am UK passport holder, meet all req for an NLV however I contract work in many places (not Spain) I need to be able to travel, when I am asked to work, most certainly over the 10month in 5 year....
I have one question. I am visiting the Costa del Sol from the US for the month of November to search for property. Do I need to get my NIE before I come, or should I wait till I make a deposit on a property?
Hi, you can make a deposit on a property and even sign Earnest Money Contract without NIE, but you will need one for closing. It is probably easier to obtain NIE number while being in Spain.
Hi.great videos. If I move to spain on non lucrative visa and gain residency after 5 years, can i work once im a resident? or do i have to be a spanish citizen to work and bow long until i gain citizenship.many thanks.jason
Hi, after 5 years of holding NLV, you can become permanent resident and will have the rights to work here. No need to become a Spanish citizen. To become a citizen- if not under different circumstances, most commonly you need to be a resident for 10 years.
Are visas for retirees over 65 easier than everyone else in Spain, and why are residencies harder than in Portugal? Not to mention taxes etc. Especially now with all the economic and political effects of the war with Russia?
Before deciding to move there, do they require the NIE number to be placed on a chip that is them placed under my skin on my hand and forehead so that it can easily be scanned to identify me? lol
Hi, I am British citizen and got a student visa that allows me to stay 6 months in Spain. Can I still use my 180 days a year allowance so I can stay in Spain longer after my visa expires?
Hi, I have a property in Spain that I plan to retire to in around 3 years. I read an article from the BBC the other day that said because of Brexit to obtain residency I will now need to have an income of €2000 a month and private health insurance. Can you please confirm that this true. Gracias.

Well, no difference between UK or US citizens anymore. "Third country" rules apply.
