I had been a remo player for years. Don't get me wrong they were good heads, but there always seemed to be a few of their heads that i couldn't get to tune up how i wanted. But about 10 years ago i bought a set of evans heads based on some recomendations and they all tuned up and sounded exactly how i wanted. I've been an evans player ever since and never had an issues. The players points system is cool too. Great work evans and steve weiss, keep it up.
It would've been nice to see how they manufacture the Calftone line of heads. They've been somewhat problematic for me the times I've used them as the "calf" laminate seems to separate from the substructure and eventually start to bubble in the strike zone. ☹ I used to have the same problem with Remo's Fiberskyn.
@SteveWeissMusic I just wanted the Onyx black bass drum head. Buy I have 2 bass drums so a whole on the right for the right side and left side for the left. Tama logo on both
I think Remo's secret is a great base film (DuPont Mylar) and a very thin coating. Evans on the other hand doesn't specify the source of their films, and tends to use a thicker coating that makes them last longer. So while the tonal quality might not be as great, the QC and customer service alone put Evans above the rest. I'm currently playing Aquarian but I've had so many QC issues that I'm going to put Evans heads next reskin.

Unfortunately none were in production at the time of our visit.
I emailed Evans about custom heads. Said they couldn't do it. I still use their products though
Give us a call and we can get a custom head ordered for you via Evans!
You can customize a head on the daddario website
Switch to Attack 🤙🏽😎
I literally just last night ordered a reso head with a custom band logo on it from D'Addario 😂

I’m an Evans guy. But imo the G1 doesn’t come close to the Ambassador. For some reason the Ambassador has a superior sound.
