  • After the originally scheduled match is postponed with the Town's supporters club coaches having reached Keele services, Swindon take a 2-1 lead for the rearranged fixture, but with a patched up defence missing Paul Bodin, Ian Culverhouse and the suspended Mark Robinson, the relegation threatened side expect an onslaught from promotion chasing Bolton.
After a surprisingly tame first half, Swindon surprisingly add to their lead through Jan Fjortoft - but the goal triggers the home side to spring into action, and goals from Jason McAteer, Mixu Paatelainen and, inevitably, John McGinlay (the villain from the first leg) in the last half hour end the Town's Wembley dream.
After the game, the Town fans are locked in on the away terrace, and are forced to watch the home side's celebrations, as the tannoy announcer does his best to incite a riot - thanking the Swindon team and fans for playing their part in such a great day. Until Brighton in 2004, my worst experience as a Swindon fan.

What an advert for the true face of English football. A packed, WORKING-CLASS ground, 2 teams fighting tooth and nail for a rare trip to Wembley, and no sign of sheiks, billionaires, or the Sky 4 anywhere. These were the best days football could offer. No amount of money could buy the passion these two sets of fans created that night.

I was there that night and what a night! What a season it was. Went to all the home games and to the League Cup Final against Liverpool. Unfortunately was unable to go for the play off final against Reading. 1994/95 what a season. We are the one and only Wanderers, BRUCE!

Useful at the time were Swindon.as were we
They came to us a couple of seasons after and got pasted 7 0. After they'd drawn the game at their place 2 each.
Never knew which team would turn up.
    Burnden was brilliant
