Glad you got a membership @holonet1 You're really benefiting from that decision today! But last year wasn't equivalent, it was 30% off for non-members and Pulse Members got an additional 5% 😊 But it really seems like Hasbro wants people to buy memberships for this sale. But for fans outside of the US it just doesn't make sense as there is no free shipping, and import fees basically bring the price back up to retail for us in some cases and in over retail in others.
Hey Jay! IMO the Premium Pulse membership is completely worth it for just the free shipping & early access to figures. Things like this sales event makes it even more obviously worth it. Going back in time is unfortunate to see but is part of it. Hasbro is a business and has to make money and this will push more people to Premium memberships.
Well that may be true for US fans, But for fans outside of the US it just doesn't make sense as there is no free shipping, and import fees basically bring the price back to retail and in some cases over retail. But for fans in the US what a great sale!
Been a Pulse member for two years now. After the first year I ended up saving about $100 in shipping costs over the course of the year. Subtract the $50 membership fee it means I saved $50 in shipping. I don't order that much over the year but it was worth it so I did it again. But this year I have saved MUCH more, and today I saved $84 in total on the Omega Guardian figure. It is completely worth it if you think there is a chance you will order 5-10 items in the course of a year....and this Power Days sale really made it worth it.
For sure if you live in the US, but it might not be as attractive to fans outside of the US. We still get dinged for shipping, and the import fees bring those savings back up to retail and in some cases over retail. So it's more advantageous for US based fans.
Exactly. One saves $70 on the Guardian figure alone. Premium is so easily worth it for the reasons you've described. I also order most items individually making it easier to cancel anything and everything I want. Also, I bought the original Omega at $100, I was pissed that the Guardian was doubled, but the Power Sale puts the costy back into a fair range imo.
@@megajayretro I was completely unaware that the Pulse membership did not provide free shipping to Canada. I find it really odd that while they offer the membership to US and Canada residents they do not provide free shipping to Canada. If not for the free shipping I would have never signed up. I don't think early access to drops is enough for Canadian consumers to drop the $50. They should either lower the cost of membership for Canadian residents if they are not providing the biggest perk (free shipping) of the membership OR work with their logistics team to make free shipping happen.
15% is unreasonable. They shouldve mafe it 25% for non-premium members. I didnt bother with the sale. Its a waste of time if youre not a premium member.
When you get down to it, if you wanted the Omega Guardian, that one it's own more than makes up for the purchase of the membership, even if you don't get free shipping. I just spent more than I should have though. There are other figures I would like to get if they go on sale. At the same time, I wish I hadn't ordered some other ones previously after seeing this sale.
I bought the pulse membership today and it's basically a wash. I'll need to buy 3-4 more times and have discounts for those to make it really worth it. Don't forget you also have to buy 75$+ for the codes to work...
Yup, its all in what is worth the added value for your collecting. But with SDCC, PulseCon, Star Wars Celebration and NYCC exclusives the "Membership" Access is also a great incentive.
Not worth it for anyone in Hawaii, they always screw us out of free shipping. I guarantee that the legacy guardian will go for under $100 in the future.
Definitely only good if they have what you want at the time of a sale. Otherwise if just in US and you pay msrp on release or to collect a line than saving on the shipping is great. I haven't seen any payoff on a membership though because they never have what I want or I get it at release through another vendor sooner with no shipping anyway. I'm always on the end of reissue waves that sell out or they sell out of popular items inside 30 minutes. So you again, have to be on it and have it in the cart and paid out of the gate in many cases. And many "members" still cannot get certain figures because Hasbro refuses to maintain healthy stock, and that type of artificial scarcity leads simply to just more reselling and scalping.
European SWTVC collector here. I can save 15% on an overpriced carbonized Moff Gideon (€26.99), an overpriced Rescue set (€92.99) and an overpriced Fett Starship (€249.99)? Amazing, thank you so much Hasblow!
Sigh yeah... for fans outside of the US it just doesn't make sense as there is no free shipping, and import fees basically bring the price back to retail and in some cases over retail. But for fans in the US what a great sale!
Yup @jzachery that's true for US fans. But for fans outside of the US it just doesn't make sense as there is no free shipping, and import fees basically bring the price back to retail and in some cases over retail. But for fans in the US what a great sale!
Sadly there's nothing I need on sale, which is good because a new Target Transformers 4 pack just leaked and I need to save up enough to buy two of them as it's a troop builder set.😅
It is free in the US. Shipping to my state is $17 each. I checked before signing up for the Premium Membership. Definitely worth it if ordering multiple Dragonflys.
Probably because the cost to ship things since Covid, on a global scale, keep getting more expensive. And I wouldn't doubt if they are trying to make Premium more enticing than just the savings on shipping. It works out really well for me and those like me because where I live its very hard to find any of the adult collectibles in the wild. My local Walmart doesn't carry much besides kids toys, Jurassic Park, Transformers, and WWE figures. And the closest Target is 45 minutes away (more depending on the time of day you go there). So, my only option is to order online and free shipping is a great perk for me. Seriously, I signed up when Serpentor was released and its paid for itself 5x over since, if not more. But there are a lot of people that live in areas where in-store finds are not such a rarity and the free shipping perk is not so great. And there has been a lot of bitching lately about Pulse exclusives and having to pay extra for premium to get early access to them. So, offering the warehouse sales at a higher discount with premium just adds more incentive to get it besides just saving on shipping and early access to new releases. Basically, people scoffed at premium so they had to create better reasons to get it. And since it doesn't cover international shipping, maybe international shoppers will see it as being more beneficial to sign up for it now, too.
For US residence it is absolutely a great incentive, but it might not be as attractive to fans outside of the US. The US dollar exchange is brutal right now for 1 Dollar Canadian is 0.74 Cents US 😰 . Not to mention we still get dinged for shipping, and the import fees which bring those would be savings back up to retail and in some cases over retail depending on where you live in the world (Australia as an extreme example). So it's more advantageous for US based fans, but outside of that... Speaking from Experience living in Canada... not so much.
For fans outside of the US it just doesn't make sense as there is no free shipping, and import fees basically bring the price back to retail or in some cases over retail. Yeah its a tough call indeed.
`Wow, that's my incentive not to get Premium plus. I hate feeling pressured into such kind of deals. I've only bought twice from Pulse and both times were not very good experiences, mostly very, very slow shipping.
Marvel legends has been quiet recently..slowed down actually.. Looks like ppl are not buying them. Atleast in my country, tons of figures are rotting on shelves all the way back to the tri-sentinel wave.. Its just too expensive and it's either same characters being repeated, reissued, remolds, repaints.. Collectors have had enough.
For sure if you live in the US, but it might not be as attractive to fans outside of the US. We still get dinged for shipping, and the import fees bring those savings back up to retail and in some cases over retail. So it's more advantageous for US based fans.
Why boycott? Because they give pulse members the same price they sell to Walmart? Sorry I hate Hasbro as much as a normal person hates corporations, but have not seen any reason to boycott
I wouldn't boycott Hasbro, they're just making products that we love, and although they've been doing some strange pricing and decisions on their packaging, I don't feel there's any need to boycott that. If your example holds true... If you don't agree with it... Then Don't Buy it...
I'm going to renew mine so I can get the 3 pack, dark Phoenix, avalanche and that villains pack it's too good to pass up plus it's yo joe June, may get early preorder access.
So your mad that your not a member and not getting what the members are getting? Simple solution is to become a member. Problem solved. You understand that membership perks are not a new concept? Memberships at spa’s, gyms, baseball games these folks get rewards and access that other non members don’t get. Last year that sale was called a warehouse sale. This sale is not a warehouse sale it’s called the power days sale, that means that they are different sales which means that they are not the same.
As a matter of fact I'm not upset @Pensive_Melancholy_ . If you are a member you get benefits, and if you're not you loose out on 15% compared to last year. Of course I understand the whole concept of Membership, in fact my last statement reenforced the idea that "It Pays To Be A Member In This Case". I also present the fact that I live in Canada and since we don't get Free shipping regardless of the Membership and import fees outside of the US are outrageous these days. Therefore the membership doesn't make sense to purchase for ME as the only benefit is the ability to purchase earlier than non members, and on that measure the extra $50 doesn't make sense to anyone living outside of the USA. @Pensive_Melancholy_ I hope that gives you a different perspective on fans outside of the US who just don't benefit from the membership in terms of added value.
I'm a member. Non-members should have never got an equivalent sales offer.

I bet they have an increase in memberships now, since you can buy the product at the price they sell to Wal Mart now through this sale
